So I ran out of dog food and picked it up after work (she had her Breakfast that morning and then eats again at dinner). I picked up a few other items and got checked out and then came home. I looked for my dogs food in the bags and her food wasn't there. I checked my bags three times and looked through my car twice and it wasn't there. I looked at my receipt and sure enough I had paid for her dog food.I called the store as soon as I realized this when I got home (which was about 6 minutes till closing. I told the man I spoke with on the phone my disgusting about my dogs food and I was told to come in the next morning. I asked to speak with the ma aver and he said he was the manager. I said I couldn't wait because my dog needed fed. He didn't care, he said the store was closed and he wanted to go home and said he wasn't going to do the run around and he hung up on me. I had to drive to gahanna from Johnstown and buy her foo at meijers. I called back the next day and spoke with the head manager and he said the man I spoke with is in produce and not even a manager. He apologized and said it was out of character for him (well how lucky of me to experience that side of him). I got a redound for my dog food and a gift card. I will use the gift card at another location. I have heard to many horrible stories of this stores treatment towards its customer and have now experienced it myself to EVER want to shop here again. They had to fire a manger a couple of months ago because she flipped of a customer and the customer sent a pic all over the town face book page(I've seen it). I'll drive out of my way to experience better treatment. Shame on you Johnstown Kroger, do better

December 2022 by Geoff C.
Stopped by the Johnstown Kroger this evening, December 27th, 2022 while passing through town. My oldest son (over 21) decided to buy beer while I was checking out with my wife in another checkout line. A cashier with a partially shaved head of purple hair, Nicole decided to card my son as well as my youngest son (age 19) who was just standing around waiting on him. She and another cashier, Justin (who I can only assume was about 18 years old) decided that my oldest son was up to some illegal activities (even after checking his ID) and went off on him like he was stealing her favorite hair dye. She refused to sell the alcohol and said he was "guilty by association" because she, what I can only assume decided he was buying alcohol for his brother? While my wife and I were checking out, also buying beer of a different brand along with a pack of cigarettes, decided that she was going to start screaming in the store at both my wife, myself and my cashier to not let me purchase alcohol or cigarettes and said we were "guilty by association" too. While she stormed and screamed over to my checkout lane with her young lad Justin in tow, she informed us that we had to return the alcohol and cigarettes that were seconds away from being paid for. The lovely purple haired Nicole decided to scream at us that "we were part of the problem" and we could shop somewhere else if we didn't like her decision that we were "guilty by association" of our 22 year old son purchasing beer. In the mean time, her trusty "Karen" in training, Justin informed us that we were once again "guilty by association".... After a couple more go arounds of trying to figure out what happened, the boisterous Nicole told us that if we had a problem that she could call the police for us and that we were not allowed back in the store that evening as her young Justin continued to run his mouth and talk down to my wife. Eventually, the evening assistant manager came over after he was requested by wife and the situation was explained. He apologized for the scene that the purple headed lady and her fierce young groupie had caused and that they would be spoken with. He did explain that the purple haired dragon also known as Nicole and her trusty sidekick Justin believed we were going to give alcohol to MY underage son who was currently with me? Reluctantly, after everything was said and done, I did purchase the items I initially needed, minus the beer and cigarettes. However, the customer service shown by Nicole and Justin have completely tarnished the way I have viewed this store. Fortunately, I was able to go to one of the many gas stations in Johnstown and purchase the beer that I was looking for. I honestly hope all the managers at this store read this review (and watch the security video) as well as maybe a few individuals at Kroger's Corp. office and realize that they have some training that needs to be done on customer service with a couple of their evening cashiers.

Refuse to hire enough people! Two lanes open! And let’s not blame on COVID, they were giving shoddy service before. Boycott self checkout. Force them into hiring people at a decent wage.

I can not stand this place anymore. At 9 am they only had 1 lane open and for some reason they never open the old self check out. Out of the last 10 times I have been there, I have not once seen the old self checkout open. So what is the point of putting the new set if they aren't going to use both sets?

Service was quick and I like the pre-bagged meat for grab and go.

The slowest deli ever . 5 10 minutes every time I try to get meat here. Sucks. Please value people's time . I dont care about friendliness if I have to stand there for 10 minutes waiting.

Milk is always over priced. All other Krogers in licking county and mount vernon have milk for $1.19 or $1.29. Milk in johnstown is always $2.99. Even their employees say it's high.

Last nights experience has turned this location into milk run. I arrived at 21:00 with a list. It took an hour and 15 minutes to find the items due to employees removing items from the shelves and filling carts. The kicker was I filled my cart and got to the checkout; I was expected to run a full cart through self checkout. I found the nearest employee gave her my cart and grabbed my milk and checked out. I'm sorry my life doesn't match up with the employee schedule of the store.
