If I could leave less than a 1 star I would. First, customer support was absolutely awful. Second, my bill was randomly estimated from September-November after not having been all year. No one can tell me why. Received my December bill today and to my surprise is was an actual. 4x the cost of my normal bill! When an electric meter was put in my house back in the summer! Still no one can explain why estimates were done causing this extremely high bill. I am on auto pay, so a paper bill doesn't come to my house and I didn't review the online bill. Won't do that again. SUPER Disappointed.

I have calling them from yesterday and nobody pick up if someone does take my information and hang up it has been happening continuously. I hope you guys do better with your customer service.

They installed a new meter at my house in july then try to give me estimated usage from last yr that i wasnt living at. They reread my meter again in October (3 months after fight over phone) and they trying to say now i use 800 in that month. Its November and i just hit 1000 on the new meter they put in last week of july but customer service keep trying to make me over pay again. They just got hit with lawsuit so prolly this how they scamming customers now.

Only get Toledo Edison if you plan on waiting 7+hours or more for service. With potential live wire fallen down across your driveway and no rush or service to your area. We have been without power since before 8 am with nothing but text updates saying service will be restored first at 11am (no one showed) then at 1 pm (still nothing) and now at 3PM… we have no power no heat and are not able to leave the house at all since the live wire is down across our driveway. Would love for someone to come out and at least move the potential treating wire out of the way of harm instead of just leaving it and waiting helplessly for service to arrive for 7 hours.

Horrible experience with trying ALL day to transfer a service. Said by the voice prompt they would call back when it was my turn. Never heard back after many attempts. Poor, awful, disgusting, not enough space to write about this dispicible service.

I’ve been waiting almost 6 hours for a call back from the queue. I was told I would have a call back in 1.5 hours or less. They double charge. They refuse to answer calls. They refuse to return calls from the queue. Altogether unprofessional and predatory. Absolutely wish there was an alternative company to choose. This is the worst service I’ve ever had.

I manage properties in all 50 states and have dealt with nearly every major utility company you can imagine — and I can confidently say Toledo Edison / FirstEnergy is by far the most incompetent utility company I have ever worked with.
We have several commercial accounts with FirstEnergy (including accounts that were absorbed into your system), and it has been an absolute nightmare. Service orders are routinely mishandled, accounts are disconnected or reconnected without notice, and every interaction requires hours of hold time with no resolution.
What’s worse is there seems to be no clear escalation path or account management team for commercial customers. This is not just a one-off issue — this has been an ongoing problem that has impacted residents, vendors, and business operations multiple times.
Other major utilities — Southern Company, Georgia Power, Duke Energy — may have long wait times, but at least they have escalation procedures, dedicated reps, and predictable service. FirstEnergy seems to operate with zero accountability and no urgency to fix systemic issues.
For a corporation of this size, this level of dysfunction is unheard of. If you are a business or property manager considering service with FirstEnergy, be warned: expect major headaches, endless calls, and very little help.

My apartment complex uses them as a third party for power, and the apartment covers utilities. Today my power was shut off and a notice was left under the past resident claiming they had overdue balance. This person is not me and they shut off my power bc they were too lazy to check the past resident moved out. My apartment complex then had to contact them and had insane wait times and shitty virtual assistants.
