I had a pleasurable experience with the staff at LCHS. My adoption process went smoothly, too. Highly recommend!

Unfortunately this was a terrible experience. We asked to see a certain puppy. We had to fill out an application just to see him. She came back out after 20 minutes and wanted to go over our form. She said he was scheduled to be fixed Tuesday, could we pick him up then? I said we want to see him before we commit. She left, came back 5 minutes later.....Unfortunately unless you are committed to adopting today you can't see him. Really!?!?!?! You just told me he couldnt be picked up until Tuesday! I'm not committing to a puppy until I can hold him. No wonder people buy puppies from private Individuals. This was stupid and a waste of time! Humane societies want people to adopt, but make it ridiculous. We walked out! 1 star is more than you deserve!

Very busy Sunday and Sue and staff were extremely helpful and patient as I scrambled to reach my landlord. They answered all my questions and all were super nice. Thank you for helping me find my new adventure buddy Rachel now known as Freja

I really wish I would have read these reviews before I was humiliated going there. I think it's crazy that this older lady in this office can tell me in front of other peole "standing at the door of the office' what is good for me for an emotional support dog because i dont know what they are going to do or grow up like? Is she the dog whisperer? The last time I checked they are not therapists or Doctors. And then asked me for a landlord letter on a Sunday when I just filled out an application on Friday. It's sounds like even the "higher" up are just as rude.Their website should say they do not answer the phone and their staff have no people skills and they must all hate their jobs. And they feel like they can tell you whats best for you. The most horrific days of my life.

I found my little “sweetie” now named Ruby. I am so happy that I adopted her. The staff at LCHS are the kindest and friendliest people. They really care about their clients and animals.

This is where I got my wonderful cat, Wally Gator. We call him Wally or Fatman. He is the gray cat on the left. I got him as a gift for my lovely wife. He is very goofy sometimes, but he is an absolutely loving cat. This shelter seems to take very good care of their animals, and they ask you questions to see if you seem like a responsible owner. They have a room full of adult cats!

My husband and I came in to look at the dogs available for adoption. When we first arrived it was extremely busy and the lobby was full, which I assumed was normal for a Saturday. We talked to the lady working at the desk. She was very nice and guided us where to go to look at the dogs and told us to let her know when we’re ready to fill out the questionnaire. After filling out the questionnaire we started working with a lady who was rude. She immediately starts with asking us for our dogs records. I was not ready for this because on the website it said you bring your dog and their records to the meet and greet. When I explained to her I don’t have them with me she starts pestering me to call my vet to get the records. Based off the information on the website it said nothing about having your vet records available in order to meet the dog. She then explains to us that the one dog we are interested in is going to be too big for our apartments dog policy. We were fine with that because there was another dog we were interested in that was much smaller. She becomes even more rude and asks if we would still be interested in the other dog. The more we interacted with her the more condescending she became. She made us feel unworthy of being there. We came there just to see the dogs and potentially adopt one. We eventually told her we are no longer interested and left. The only reason why I am giving them 2 stars is because the women at the desk was very helpful. We were confident about coming there and potentially adopting a pet. This place has potential but they have employees who have terrible customer service skills and will turn away customers who have nothing but good intentions.

Completely miserable experience. First in at noon as the doors opened. Identified the dog we wanted and submitted our app within minutes. We then sat and sat as more families came in after us. We sat more and were told our app was going to be printed soon. Kept saying that but no movement on it. Another family came in and sat down. A different employee asked if they had been helped and then said they would print their application. We had been sitting for 45 minutes now and the new family got their app printed and dog identified before ours was printed. 10 minutes later our person came up and said the dog we wanted was taken. It was the family that just got helped. A waste of time and never want to go through that again. I told them we were here first but no one seemed to care. My wife went from super excited because the dog she wanted was still there after the weekend(we went Sunday morning). In fact the one she wanted was the only one left in that kennel out of 5 dogs. So it seemed like fate to her. She was worried as we waited but I told her to relax we were first and they are just getting everything ready. We were initially told right after the app was filled out we would meet him. So we though the whole time we were just waiting to meet him. We were wrong.

Came here today to adopt a puppy. We were the first ones there. They told us the puppy was available and to fill out a form and they would put us in a room to meet the puppy. We sat for at least ten minutes and they kept telling us they were going to print our form off and then we sat longer and watched more families be helped before us. Then 45 minutes go by and they tell us that another family who got there after us adopted the dog even though our form was filled out first and we had already said we wanted the dog. Never coming here again

All the staff and volunteers were absolutely wonderful. So caring and knowledgeable. Our new friend, family member, keeps us busy learning to live with each other. It has been many years since we have had a puppy. The challenges have and will be worth it. Keep up the good work LCHS and may God bless.

absolutely wonderful experience adopting our pup here. both times we looked at adoptable dogs here, it was clear the staff very much cared about them having success in the homes they are adopted to. The staff took their time with our current dog to make sure she was comfortable meeting the pup, watching her body language/etc. Now all of our dogs are thriving and we could not be happier! thank you <3
