I was the only customer in the place and I asked for help with a product. I was told "No, I will not help you" (The guy had a beard). I do not plan on going back. I was going to spend around $15,000 I would give them a ZERO

Geneva gets ZERO stars. Andover gets FIVE stars. The 'manager'-Wayne- was absolutely horrible. He would not exchange a bad piece of wood for a remodel project we were doing. He said it was my fault "sending my wife" to pick the wood up! (Bigot) My wife knew what we needed for stair treads. She trusted that they would pick out the proper lumber as they did not offer to let her pick the wood out herself. Then he said it was my fault for not coming myself. He was completely rude, sarcastic & even hung up on me. The wood was completely unusable. He values one piece of wood over a customer. Luckily, when we called the Andover store, the Manager Scott went above & beyond to help correct the situation. This was an extra 2 hours out of our day to drive all the way down there but I would do it again just so I didn't have to deal with the Geneva store. Unfortunately though, we will not be going back.

The Geneva store is horrible. The manager was EXTREMELY rude to me. I mean very, very, very rude. They were more expensive but I expected that. I like to support local businesses over big box stores but I'm not going to pay more to be treated worse. I wish I could leave no stars.

Wife and I wanted to get a deck built. We talked to one builder and he quoted us around $6,800 for just the materials to build an all wood deck (We dont know from where). He was going to charge an outrageous amount just for labor, so we went with someone else. Our new builder said he was struggling to find lumber from the places he normally works with. We suggested Valley cause it was decently close to where we live. Prior, we have never done anything or shopped with Valley. We worked with Jim from Valley. He was great with our builder and myself. We ended up getting a quote for materials to build our deck with composite timbertech and a vinyl deck rails for $7,600. Wood prices and wood availability are crazy at the moment, so it was better to go with composite. Im just happy I wont have to stain the deck! Jim was great, anytime an issue came up he contacted us right away to make sure everything was fine. We had an issue come up with the gates we wanted for our deck. Jim couldnt find my cellphone number but had my address, so he drove to our house and wanted to get confirmation. Also we had an issue where we were given one to many 8ft rails and was shorted one 6ft stair rail. Well it worked out cause our builder had to use the extra 8ft rail cause of adjustments we made to the deck after the sub deck was done. When we noticed we were short the 6ft stair rail, Jim came out and delivered the rail himself and talked to our builder a little bit. He saw we had leftover items and knew I was going to need to return some extra wood and rails. He said he wouldnt charge me for the 8ft rail until I returned the extra material and just take the cost off that credit. It is a busy time for the lumber yards because everyone is staying home and putting that vacation money into the house. So I wasnt surprised by anything that popped up but Jim always made sure everything was great. Our builder is a finishing Carpenter by trade but does decks and whatnot as side work. He said the price we got for the material to build the deck was very reasonable. Jim was great and we had no issues with Valley. So Ill be a returning customer.

They are overpriced and rude and i would recommend raymond builders or carter lumber in madison both are better to deal with than valley and theyre lot is a mess and theyre yard is poorly maintained and the storage units are not safe or secure. I was completely un satisfied and recommend not wasting your money there. I heard they are in the red anyways so must be catching up with them and theyre poor business ethics. Sorry but its true.
