Daughter loves going here because you can pet the animals and the cages are close for viewing. Good selection of pets and nice staff.

Terrible attitudes with worker.
She refused to sell me fish!
I am at a petstore!
That is your job.
Very rude.

The staff is less than friendly. The dogs looked unhappy and were extremely crammed into small cages. Prices are extremely high. Would not recommend.

I purchased a baby bearded dragon and the set up set all in all I paid around $400 took it home was very happy paying the 400 not a problem. It was packaged all pretty however when I slid the lid out, I didn’t notice that the driftwood was poking up into the Screen so when I pulled it a little it tore it I contacted the store. The girl said let me talk to my manager called me back and said this is what we can do because we check our stuff very nice and make sure there’s no problems with it… we can order you a screen n only charge you half price…. I don’t find that fair since I literally had just purchased it and packaging is why it was damaged. All I asked to do was exchange the screen? The girl said this is what we can do. That’s all we can do I said tell you what why don’t you have your manager contact me because you were very helpful today in the store and I feel like I’m about to get rude and I don’t think that I should get rude with you since you were so helpful….the girl then got very rude…. come on Petland You can do better than that now all my future purchases I will drive to Petco in Barboursville and Petland lost out on all my business.

All petlands should and need to be shut down and closed permanently for they use puppy mills to acquire the dogs and other animals they sell

Love to go into Petland and play with the dogs. We have been test driving dogs for about a year, but we are not sure exactly what we wanted.
I have played with lots of dogs, big dogs, and little dogs and finally found my soulmate.
This dog was so kind and gentle. He was just so happy to be with us and out of his cage.
He kissed my wife's nose and gently tugged at my hoodie. He was just full of puppy love.
The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable about my new dog.
They even recommend a vet close to my house and went above and beyond in making this an enjoyable experience.
Thank you for my new dog, Frankie the Maltese

Lack luster animal husbandry all around. The aquariums are severely over stocked, they are graveled with no live plants. Everytime I've been in the store you can see dead fish floating among the living ones or stuck to the filter. The bearded dragons are kept cramped togother on sand, with no temperature gauge. As for the frogs, particularly the pacman frogs, I've noticed that their enclosures are rarely kept at the correct humidity and the frog looks dried out in the substrate. The ferrets usually smell because of the feces in their cage. The birds have feces floating around in their water bowl, have clipped wings, and no tops on their cage. Leaving them susceptible to being terrorized by children with snotty noses all day long. Also, there's about 100 parakeets in one small box with nothing but a PVC pipe perch. The hermit crabs don't have deep enough substrate with the same humidity issue. Then the dogs are kept in small boxes on grated floors. The betta fish are kept in bowls with open tops and not provided water changes. (There are usually one or two dead at the bottom of the bowl on the shelf, all of them have yellowed water).
This location promotes inhumane husbandry, overprices everything, and I've noted many of the workers giving incorrect information regarding animal care be it aquatic, reptile, avian, or amphibian. I know you can't expect everyone to be an expert but the basic amount of reseach contradicts most of the information they'll tell you. The only reason I still come to this location is to buy feeder insects on occasion. I strongly recommend going anywhere else if you can, I've been to places with much better care, much better prices, and more trustworthy brands. This place is more of a petting zoo and cash grab than a pet store.

Loved the girls that work here. They were more than helpful when I came in looking for treats for my dog and some medicine for my cat. Will be returning!

Not a bad place but was ignored by a worker because someone she knew came in even though I was in line first.

The young lady that helped me was very friendly and kind, but they have the ick/whitespot in freshwater fish and failed to recognize that and failed let us know. I wasn't aware of what it was until I did my research. We caught it in time but did lose 1 fish and 5 shrimp. It was the Tiger Barbs in Fresh Water tanks. They had black stripes and were kinda silverish or grayish between. I'm not upset at anyone as I know it could potentially happen to anyone, even if they're a professional. Nobody is perfect, and that's okay. :)
