For many years the Michael Hild Agency handled my car insurance needs. During this time I'd been insured through Allstate for my auto only. In the last year alone my rates had increased 4 - 5 times and had gotten to the point I couldn't afford the rates any longer.
I am disabled and on a very limited income so I decided to shop around to get a more affordable rate for my auto insurance needs. Upon finding another agency that dealt with othe reputable companies they found one that would be nearly $30 less a month for the same exact coverage and also considerably lower deductibles.
I decided to switch from Allstate to the new insurance carrier, and then called the Hild agency to inform them that I'd be terminating my insurance.
The gentleman, ALEX that I spoke to who is normally very pleasant, began to try and offer different options to lower my current rates with Allstate, which none worked for my needs. He then inquired what company I was switching to and began giving me negative remarks about the company. I'm going with Progressive, who I believe is one of the top and most reputable companies.
As an Allstate policy holder I was on the Drivewise Program where you pay as you go and still had a balance of over $100. left in the program at the time I terminated my insurance.
ALEX then informs me that I had an unpaid balance of $298 still remaining and that if it isn't paid that I'd be sent to collections. I'm not sure to this day why I'd owe on a policy that is pay as you go.
Being confused I called back to speak to Michael Hild to get an explanation and either ALEX didn't forward the message that I needed to speak to him or that Mr Hild just doesn't care enough to offer an explanation. I also sent Mr Hild an email expressing my dissatisfaction for not returning my call and that I had submitted a complaint to the Ohio Department of Insurance to look into my concerns. The email also went unanswered.
I then called corporate Allstate and explained my situation and they informed me that I had no balance and that a refund was scheduled to be issued on August 3 for the remaining balance on my Drivewise account. They then gave me the number of a local Allstate supervisor to call to insure that what they were telling me was accurate and true. I then called the supervisor agent and they also reiterated what corporate had told me.
Now back to, ALEX. As I'd said he had always been very helpful, but when I terminated my policy he became extremely rude and conisending and the manor in which I was spoken to was not only unprofessional
but unacceptable as well.
I was in management for nearly 40 years and had this been an employee of mine speaking to a customer in the way he had, I'd have fired on the spot. There is no room forthis behavior in any business that treats their customers like he did.
I the event that I do still owe something on the policy, which I was insured that I don't, still doesn't excuse the extremely rude treatment I received.
I will also forward my connects to corperate Allstate about my experience and maybe then actions will be taken.
Allstate is an extremely reputable company and with employees like ALEX that represent them I'm quite sure they'll have something to say.

Do not recommend. After 5 years rates went from $890 to over $2200 with no explanation and no claims filed. When tried to cancel was unable to provide a date to cancel as to prevent a balance being due. With no authorization withdrew funds from our checking and again not able to provide date to cancel as requested. Very unprofessional, lazy and very bad customer service.

Mike and his whole agency have been wonderful. We recently had to add 2 policies and they steered us to the most cost effective plans. They did not try to oversell and answered all our questions.

My father was a loyal Allstate customer for many years. He passed away last January. I contacted the Mike Hild Agency to inquire about a prorated refund on my father's auto and renters policies. They sent the checks written out to my father. Unfortunately, the banks won't allow me to cash/deposit the checks. The checks have to be written out to me. I contacted the agency and they requested a Power of Attorney document in order to reissue the checks in my name. I promptly provided the Power of Attorney document. I contacted the agency 3 months later for a status. I was told they can not reissue the checks with no explanation. So I have two checks I can not cash/deposit and the agency apparently had no intention of contacting me.I contacted the Allstate corporate office. I explained to them the situation and provided the Power of Attorney document. I'm waiting to hear back from them. Up to this point, I have not been told by the corporate office that they can not reissue the checks to me.As far as the Mike Hild Agency is concerned, the service I received is either lazy or incompetent or both.UPDATE: The response below from Michael Hild is pathetic. I most certainly did provide all of the documents requested (Death Certificate, proof of executor, and Power of Attorney documents via emails). Your agency is my point of contact and to whom I'm providing information for the refund. Therefore, you are the conduit to corporate and responsible for communicating the information correctly. Likewise, I expect your agency to be providing updates on the refund when they become available. No one from your agency contacted me. I contacted your agency for an update. The update I received: we only issue checks to the name on the policy. That's ridiculous. In this case, you're attempting to blame me and corporate for your incompetence.

Very friendly,helpful,knowledgeable staff. Everyone who spoke with me or I seen were excellent representatives of this agency. It was hard to find it because there is no Street sign and residents said it's because West Milton,Ohio 45383 is actually a Township and that a street sign was not necessary since there is only one house and technically is a dead end street none was needed. This agency is located there. Google Maps just has it listed as North, no St., Ave., Rd., nothing just refers to it as North. The residents of West Milton,Ohio 45383 do what they can a lot of hard workers farmers, iron workers, you would be surprised how much they contribute to the Miami County, Ohio. With no help from Miami County, Ohio. I contacted Waste Management of Miami County, Ohio about a bulk pick-up and the woman who returned my call told me harshly that "I would have to contact FISH of West Milton,Ohio 45383 because West Milton, Ohio is a Township and Troy Ohio Waste Management even pick trash up there. I contacted FISH of West Milton, Ohio 45383 and was informed that the older gentleman retired and someone else bought it. West Milton, Ohio and Troy,Ohio and Tipp City, Ohio are only ten maybe fifteen minutes if that from each other but many residents have to rent dumpsters in the Township of West Milton,Ohio 45383 because Miami County Waste Management of Troy, Ohio won't pick it up ten fifteen minutes away, another thing is West Milton, Ohio residents don't even have sidewalks, or street lights for the residents.
