A small but worthwhile museum/archeological site. A roughly 10-15 minute video within the museum provides context about the site, which I recommend viewing before heading outside.

Delightful surpriseVisited during the Native-American month with a guide and for free! We happily gave a donation to this small but well maintained site.

It was super fascinating. I was told by the boonshoft cashiers that admission was covered by our boonshoft tickets which was not true but the price wasn't bad ($13 for an adult and child). It is a unique link to history which we enjoyed. I appreciated that everyone was kind and answered my inquisitive 4 year old's questions. I wish the signs were better kept outside as some we were not able to read. It's almost handicap/stroller accessible as most of the lower path is rocks.

Remember this place as a youngster. Pretty incredible reproduction of the Fort Ancient culture from the era.Authentic and very immersive.

This place is so cool. I went here today. It was a beautiful day to walk outside and see everything! The staff was nice and there was so much to learn. You can learn a lot inside the main building or go outside as well!

Informative indian village with reconstructed buildings that show how the Fort Ancient native Americans lived. There is a small museum that describes life in the village as well a display describing how archeologists excavated the site. I took my elementary age children. They liked the dioramas and being in the reconstructed houses where they were shocked that a family of 10 lived, ate and slept in such a small room. There is a neat gift shop with a variety of books, toys and native American art. It was a good visit, although we got through the museum and the grounds in a little over an hour, admission was a little pricey for the amount of time we were there. (There is a second floor with a small exhibit of local art and some placards talking about other native Americans in the US). Overall it was a good adventure, although not sure we got our money's worth for the admission.

Sunwatch Indian Village Summer Festival was pretty weak. I was expecting a cultural experience but found maybe a dozen booths an1 food truck. The food truck had smoked meat but no brisket. They did have people to show you the property but I was expecting more of an interactive cultural experience with native dancers, native food experiences, etc.

This is a really interesting museum and research center. It deals with a people group that are referred to as the Sunwatch people. At one point they just abandoned this site. They were an Indian tribe that pre-date the Indian tribes we all have heard of such as the Mohawk, Cherokee, etc. Being part Mohawk I was fascinated by this group and wonder if any of our ancestors were descendants of them. Next time I visit I intend on spending a lot more time there.

Will update our review. We happened upon this place, but didn't have the time to explore. 5 stars for having a Native Indian village in Dayton! So cool and I was oh so happy to see it and to have experienced finding it by accident! ❣️

We went to Sunwatch after purchasing a pass to Boonshoft and got in free due to the affiliation. The building was clean and the indoor museum area was very well put together. We walked out to the village itself and while most of the plaques were readable, there were definitely some that are in desperate need of replacement. I assume that Sunwatch doesn't get near the monetary equivalent that Boonshoft gets, and I understand that, and I know it's not as "cool" as other places, but it is a cool place overall and has a certain charm that I am drawn to.While the village was pretty cool, it only had 2 standing buildings, and some of the poles, which served a purpose. On the land you can see where other buildings stood and I'm assuming they are that way on purpose. Seeing the layout of the land and the elevated areas where the other buildings would have sat is pretty neat from an adult perspective, but the kiddos were a little bored outside of the 2 main buildings in the village. It would have been nice to have more buildings erected and/or more interactive things at the village itself. If anything it has me willing to maybe donate some time/energy. It's worth a visit to see in the normal hours, but probably better served to wait for an event if you have little ones.

Cool little museum and research site. Clerk was knowledgeable and friendly. Gift shop is small with small treasures, bathrooms open to public. There is a video introduction that you can watch if you want to. The indoor museum is informative, but it’s the outside part that’s really cool. Following the path you can see reconstructions of ancient indigenous huts and other small features. Grounds are cleanly kept. Unique recycled tire path is bouncy and fun, but you couldn’t take a wheelchair out on it so that sucks. Besides that, the only other negative is the cost for entry, it’s a little high in my opinion ($7 for adults, $6 for seniors and free for children under 5 I think.) Just think things like this should be on a sliding scale because not everyone has disposable income, but everyone deserves to go to a museum/historic site and learn.
