Owen has repeatedly found rare books for me to gift to family members; he is always pleasant and courteous and the shop itself is an absolute delight - ! A local treasure.

First time ordering from Kubik Fine Book and books arrived last night in the mail. Fast delivery and books are in better condition than I expected for being as old as they are. I’ll be looking here next time I need an older book. Thanks!!!

Owen knows his wares exceptionally well, and gave me a fair price for the books I took to him for sale. He had reasonable prices on a number of books I had been looking for for some time. A great experience.

Was greeted by a young lady and that was the only thing that was pleasing. Other than that the next gentleman was very rude, didn't really explain how things worked and acted that I should have already known. Very unprofessional.

I almost didn’t go due to the past ratings but since there are very few used bookstores around I decided to give it a shot. I’m so glad I did. Just getting interesting in reading later in life and am a pure novice. I had a handful of titles a friend recommended to try and they had them all at reasonable prices. I mentioned this to the owner as I was paying and he gave me a little tour around the shop. Such a great experience and I will definitely be back on a regular basis.

Poor professionalism and etiquette are the best way I can describe my experience.I had come on hard times and needed to obtain a bit of cash to pay for my insulin needs. I walked into the store clutching my item and was immediately just waived off by the man behind his desk. Sure he was o. The phone, I understand, so I waited. He stopped his conversation and very rudely stated "we don't buy that" when I haven't even shown him what I had to sell. I just smiled and reassured him my First Edition of 'Le Cuisine Du Marché' signed by the Author 'Paul Bocuse' to the editor. And in the back signed by 'Julia Childs' herself. But I couldn't even explain to him the nature of this signature within. He dismissed me and my book, stating "nobody wants it" but that he would offer my "$5" for it. So either one of two things happend. He either knew the value of my book and didn't think I did, or he truly has no knowledge of rare books.

pro: vintage well kept book shopcon: Went in to sell 3 vintage books. Two young ladies proceeded to go through my fragile books as if they were interested, then said the store isn't interested in anything right now except one topic which clearly wasn't like the Thomas Paine 1878 leather bound book I had, nor the First Edition Edgar Rice Burroughs books I had; and, they pointed out that the owner wasn't in so they really had no authority to buy anything anyhow...so why did they waste my time and leaf through my antiquarian delicate books? What a waste of time and now my antiques have had one more unnecessary handling.

Interesting selection but high prices. Your mileage may vary, but my order cost an average of 33% more than it would have cost me to have nicer condition books shipped to my doorstep. Still, it was an interesting place to browse. Some books were fairly priced, but the fact that many others were priced up to double the online price means that this might not be the best place to populate a home library.

As a regular customer of Kubik Fine Books, I can say that this one of Dayton’s hidden gems. I discovered them actually by their booth in Antique Village - then came into the shop in Oakwood. I wouldn’t pay attention to the negative reviews here because I have always been treated well by the owner who is friendly and professional. I promise if you stop by, you’ll see books/magazines/newspapers/etc that are so old you wont believe you’re holding them in your hand. Understandably, they’re also priced according to their age and rarity. There’s a wide variety of genres available and the books themselves I know would be very very hard to find elsewhere. I highly recommend stopping by!!

I always love coming into this book store! Has a great selection of books! The cat is adorable! You should always support your local small business. I would also take the 1 star reviews with a grain of salt; since most of them are complaining about appraisals of books which is a service that cost extra. Just because a book is old doesn't mean it's worth money.

When purchasing books from this business only offer 1 percent of asking price as that is what they will offer when buying books. Rip off. Real ethical practice.

Surprised to see so many 1 star reviews (and most without an explanation). I've been to this store a few times and always had a good experience. The selection of books is good for our area.

I would take the negative reviews here with a large grain of salt. I have been to this location twice and have experienced nothing but courtesy and professionalism from the proprietor and his staff. The store has a fantastic collection that would satisfy a casual customer as well as an avid collector. I definitely plan on returning in future.

I went into Kubik Fine Books the other day for the first time and this book store is absolutely magical. Sure, book store owners can be dry, but Owen was gracious and searched his store high and low to find me the subjects I was searching for. Stores like this are becoming rare and we should be honored we have a wonderful place like this in Dayton.
