Staff was great, but a car I bought for 14 gand lasted about a little over a year is now in the shop getting a engine. Buy new if you can. Otherwise it might not last you long.

Sales team was very good. Your vehicle transfer team was awful. It took 9 days to move my reserved vehicle from Ft. Wayne, Indiana to Cincinnati, Ohio. Even then, the sales team in Cincinnati had to schedule one of their on-site teams to go pick the vehicle up near Cleveland. Cincinnati team was thoughtful enough to reimburse my $99 transfer fee and offer a free dinner and an oil change to offset the time and frustration of waiting for the vehicle. I seriously considered canceling the whole deal.

I bought my car from this company three years ago, and dealing with them has been nothing short of a nightmare. After wasting over 100 hours on phone calls, enduring some of the rudest, most incompetent customer service I’ve ever encountered, and being treated like my time and money meant nothing, they finally ‘found’ my title—after three years of excuses, runarounds, and outright negligence. But guess what? Now that I finally have the title, it’s completely useless. Because of their endless incompetence and failure to handle their own paperwork correctly, I still can’t even get my car properly registered under my name. And of course, instead of fixing their mistake, they’re useless and unhelpful as always.
So now, because of their failure, I have to spend over $1,000 out of my own pocket to clean up their mess and finally make things right—when this should have been handled correctly from day one. This company operates with zero accountability, zero professionalism, and zero care for its customers. Their employees either don’t know what they’re doing or just don’t care, and either way, they have no problem making their customers suffer for it.
If you value your sanity, your time, or your hard-earned money, stay as far away from this company as possible. Absolute disaster. NEVER AGAIN. NEVER!!!!!

Told us a high quote then kinda low balled us when we got here. Had damage to a door that we told them about beforehand.
We was told the entire process would take an hour but we sat here for over 2 hours. The final off was still respectable so that's why I'm giving it 3 stars. But they really don't value you or your time here

When I bought my Nissan Leaf with 20k miles on it, I was sold an “extended warranty”, for $1400. Before I agreed to purchase, I asked specifically and was assured by the salesman that the high voltage battery was covered. With an all electric car, that was my only concern for coverage with the warranty. At 56k miles the car stopped working and the dealer tested the HV battery and said it had “failed”. After contacting the warranty company and CarMax manager, I am dumbfounded to find out that the HV battery is not covered because the contract excludes “batteries” which is mentioned under excluded coverage as “regular maintenance services”, along side wipers and brake pads. Obviously the HV battery is not a “regular maintenance” item. All efforts to discuss the issue were met with denial. The estimate is 8,000+ to replace the main battery. The manufacturer warranty was for 100,000 miles or 8 years, which was unfortunately 7 months prior to the death of the battery. So much for extending the warranty.

I found a used Tacoma here and test drove it and LOVED it. It drove amazing. The windshield seal did need to be fixed but other than that I wanted that truck. I wanted to see what the monthly payments would look like and they told me that my APR% was going to be 14%!!!!! My fiance was even co-signing with me with perfect credit and the best they could do was the 14% APR. They didnt even offer other options, like financing with another institution/credit union. I walked out and I will never recommend Carmax to anyone.

Customer service was nice, The salesman was very nice. But I was not impressed with the condition of the vehicles and the quality of the product. Vehicle interiors smelled, scratches inside and out of vehicles and just other diverse issues. It made the product feel overpriced and inferior to other places we have test drove SUV's.

I have a car with them but my car now need a catalytic converter I’ve only had the car 4 so they made it like it wasn’t nothing wrong with the car but months later it’s needs a catalytic converter there is no way this happened within 4 months I’m very upset

Went in for a appraisal on our 2015 Toyota Corolla S. Easy and quick process and employees were nice. However, I left feeling lowballed. Our vehicle has no sigHad another appraisal done with another local dealer and they offered $3500 more. I also searched for a similiar model with the same amount of mileage that carmax is selling for more than double what they had offered. I could understand if our vehicle had any sort of damage/work to be done but it does not. ALWAYS get a second opinion

This was our first purchase from CarMax. The process was very fast, convenient and the service provided was excellent. It’s a no pressure buying experience which allowed us plenty of time to choose the right car! The car we purchased I had found on their website and had it shipped to the location near our home. That process was quick and seamless!
They were also very accommodating and helpful when the car we chose needed some work to repair a couple things we noticed after we left the lot.
Overall a great experience!
