This review is for educational purposes. From the minute I moved in here, I have had nothing but issues that have caused a great deal of stress. The only plus is that the manager Brent and most of the RLC staff have been very kind and willing to help me (for the most part). However, there are some issues I would like to share.Firstly, they do not allow showings of the Studio apartments. My assumption for this is because they are extremely outdated, have no safety (windows are sidewalk level and you can't close the blinds due to the window AC unit), are very tiny for the amount you are paying and are very filthy.Secondly, maintenance. There were some issues with the carpets in my unit from the previous tenants so I was told that maintenance would be in contact within a few days to schedule a time to come fix the carpets. However, it took almost a month to get this issue fixed, despite submitting multiple requests and calling multiple times. The only reason the issue was fixed was because I kept pushing for it to be addressed. Otherwise, I would have been left with filthy and unsafe carpets. On a separate occasion, I had a problem with my bathroom sink. Maintenance showed up multiple times without warning because each time they forgot something or had to get someone else or accidently turned off my water and left me without running water in the bathroom. Overally, I spend from 9am to 7pm dealing with maintence to try to fix this issue. Additionally, the first two who came to look at the sink, used my private property in the bathroom and left the bathroom and my trash can (and it contents) soaking wet and covered with dirt. While Brent the manage did apologize for what happened and offered me a gift card to make up for it (which I appreciated), he told me that I would be hearing from the maintenance supervisor. However, I still have not heard from them to discuss the issue. It has been very frustrating trying to communicate with the maintenance staff and dealing with their unprofessional and disrespectful behavior. It is clear that the maintence does not care about the tenant at all, so I am just hoping that nothing else needed fixed so I do not have to deal with them again (although this is unliking considered all of the issues in the unit).Thirdly, almost every day I can hear the people living next to me and below me making noise and smell the scents from other units (cigarette smoke, marijuana, etc.) with no way to keep the smells out.Fourthly, you pay a lot of money to live here and are still required to pay for your laundry. There are always broken washers and dryers, which becomes a problem when three whole building are sharing 4 washers/dryers.It truly has been a terrible experience living here and I highly recommend students look for another place to live, and that the University Village staff learns how to be professional, respectful and communicative. Find a place that actually respects you and your belongings.

DO NOT LIVE HERE. wish i could give 0 stars. they do not care about their residents literally at all. they barely fix up your apartment before giving it to you, and when you call maintenance about these issues they half fix them and then get annoyed when you continuously make complaints trying to get your apartment fixed or they talk down to you about why you broke whatever it is they’re fixing. i’m to the point where i’d rather live with stuff broken than get my apartment trashed and get disrespected by maintenance.. also better not have any complaints about your neighbors because they won’t do anything about that either, just talk down to you like you’re a child. all they care about is money when the apartments are moldy, bug infested, and honestly just gross. i’d like to know how they’re rated #1 in student living because its very hard to believe from personal experience and other reviews and i would rather live in a dorm than give another penny to this awful, awful place.

If I could give zero stars I would. I lived with University village for 1 year. A complete disaster to say the least. STUDENTS if you are looking to live off campus DO NOT live here. They will take advantage of naïve renters looking to expose themselves to adult responsibilities; I unfortunately learned this the hard way.Upon arrival the apartment was a complete disaster. Nothing like the show room by any means. The tub was a crime scene of mold, peeling paint, rust, and loose caulking that left me standing on the ground as the tub ripped from the wall down to the floor. My roommate and I quickly put in maintenance requests but not before the lightbulb busted exposing the electrical wires. I then put in a request for this but also not before the shower head broke and started spraying water over the shower rod into the highly dangerous working lightbulb filling it with water. After calling several times in the first few weeks of living here to fix my requests, I was finally able to press someone enough to come fix the issue. Yet, the tub was overlooked and I was told someone would reach out to fix this issue. That never happened and by the end of my lease and 10 months later my roommate and I were given the option to have our bathroom completely remodeled. Despite moving out in less than a month. Although, this was nice we didn’t feel that we were compensated for our pain and suffering of living in a modern day Hooverville. And of course, when we went to the office all of the requests were gone conveniently said, TAMMY.Well that wasn’t good enough for me so we went back in. At which point that offered us a free month of rent which I’m sure was a bribe to not being doing what I’m doing now. But that was before they lied to me and moronically lost my security deposit after trying to send it electronically without my consent. That was also after they tried to charge us $541 for damages that were already there which we had proof via pictures and videos. But they coincidentally did not have any picture from the move in inspections because there was no inspection conducted by the property. There were several more concerns such as the fire alarms not working during a fire that could have been detrimental to residents, maintenance spraying chemicals in the tub the later lifted and clogged the drain, quarter sized spiders, a broken mail box (federal crime), broken cabinets, broken blinds, and uneven flooring that caused me to roll my ankle.I am no longer a resident here clearly. But I want to encourage others to come forward and do their research before living here. I have high hopes that my comment will not be deleted because I will continue to post again and again with pictures. Not to mention it would only help my case to the Better Business Bureau and the Ohio Attorney Generals Office of David Yost. Also as unnecessary as it may seem residents make sure you know all the staffs names and voices because they will lie and tell you someone is unavailable or not there when indeed they’re in the other room.

Constant drainage clogs if you’re on the lower levels. Maintenance will only properly fix any issue if you send an official letter threatening to deposit your rent to the court. They’ll try their best to delete any negative reviews by reporting your review as spam to Google. Old wiring that sometimes short out and will take them a while to fix. So, if it’s your fridge, be prepared to loose your food. If you need maintenance after hours, there’s about 10% chance that they’ll actually respond. This is my third review after my two previous reviews were somehow deleted. Good luck to anyone who will live here. You’ll either have no problems or all the problems in the world, and they’ll never gets fixed unless you bring up legal matters.

I wrote this review the other night but University Village either is able to delete my review or reached out to Google to delete it. On Monday, October 23, a University Village EMPLOYEE VANDALIZED my apartment. How did he do that you may ask? Well, my toilet was clogged and when the maintenance dispatcher sent a plumber down, he was very unhappy. He then purposely took urine out of the toilet and decided to spread it throughout my apartment. When my mother who is visiting asked "what are you doing" he replied with "next time don't clog it and buy a plunger." Such a filthy pig this "man" is and a complete weasel, you can see it in his eyes. University Village did NOTHING about this. They had my carpet cleaned which is the least you can do.Yesterday I met with Brent, Tammy, Cecil and Ray. Brent has helped me with many issues since I moved in. Cecil and Ray are nice guys who have helped me as well. However Tammy may be one of the most frustrating individuals to deal with. She refused to help make sure the plumber who vandalized my apartment would not return. Such a small task that was too difficult for her to help me with. Fortunately, Brent has assured me that this individual does not have my room key and won't be allowed back in my room. I had to walk over down to the office to get this assurance because Tammy had me waiting an hour on the phone and when she finally got back to me was no help and basically told me to ask someone else to deal with it.The most annoying part of all this is the guy who did this to me got no punishment. Tammy has also emailed my parents that all communication must be done over email now as she is scared about me suing. When my apartment almost burned down last week due to their placing of the furniture, Tammy preferred to have all conversations on the phone rather than writing. Very two faced practices by this company. Very classy move by them to delete my review and block me on social media.Keep asking google to delete my reviews - I won't back down. I am not scared of you guys. All I have asked is to be treated like a human, rather than a wild dog. That was too hard for you guys to do I guess.

Roaches. Mold. Laundry Machines don't work. Rude staff. Broken shower. Gross Flooring. AC filter never has been replaced. No batteries in the thermostat. Disgusting shower. False noise complaint accusations. Maintenance doesn't respond. The manager even spoke to me personally about getting maintenance in, but never did - it's been 3 months. Don't live here. There are better places for the same price. Not even close to campus. No positives to say at all. FYI, when I say they have roaches, it is BAD. I'm not sure if anything can even be done at this point. Pest control has come in uninvited twice now and I swear they get worse every time they "spray." I also got locked out of my apartment because they had to "master" keyhole displayed and my personal one was hidden. So when I tried to get in - my key didn't fit. I had to wait 5 hours for maintenance to come let me in. Not a single person I spoke to on the phone told me that I had to turn the lock around. Everyone was rude on the phone and I sat outside of my apartment for 5 hours. This place is God-awful.UPDATE: Brent reached out to me and was very kind over the phone. He said that pest control would come in and follow through with wall treatment to take care of the pests. That never happened because the roast infestation has grown since then and they are all over. The AC unit also smells like poop whenever we turn it on. This place sucks.

University Village is not the right move for students, let alone any adult or young adult trying to begin their life. University Village charges an arm and a leg for the basic necessities and provides a very not pleasurable experience. Since moving in, we have experience countless issues, and have received nothing to benefit or make us happy in any way. Moving into University Village was supposed to be a wonderful idea and a step in the right direction for my girlfriend and I. However, that is the exact opposite. Maintenance does not care or handle any of our maintenance requests at all. I will submit the requests, and within 1-2 hours, they will be opened and immediately closed. When we moved in, the fire alarms chirped for almost the entire first month, until we were finally able to get ahold of Brent. Since then, we have encountered numerous other issues and have decided that if we are going to get anything done, we will have to figure it out ourselves. I would really like to know what maintenance actually does because from everything that I have seen they hire out. So to this date, we have had to snake out our bathroom since from the previous tenant (so disgusting-entire drain was practically clogged), replaced the batteries in the thermostat in hopes it would work, and fix the garbage disposal once again. I think my all time favorite was when the carbon monoxide detector almost fell on my head when I was leaving the apartment. I found out it was simply attached by a simply screw that isn't even screwed into a stud--just the drywall, and it is also held up by double sided tape that obviously isn't sticky anymore. We both were so excited to come and be a resident at University Village. But after paying almost $1200 a month, we aren't satisfied. Not to mention, prior to moving in, you have to cough up an additional $250 per person for "community fees" that aren't even properly being used. The only event that they have done that would even cost anywhere near a lot of money was their Octoberfest event. Other events have been coloring or bracelet making. Whoot Whoot! Money well spent right there. We also have dogs. Which having those here are also very sad. When you visit, University Village is all about promoting that. However, if you visit the dog park, there isn't anyway to safely have your animals in the park because the fence is falling off of the posts. Finally, prior to moving in, we weren't even greeted or treated like we were going to be potential clients and residents. When we went on out tour, our agent took us to the show room, stood at the door, and got on her phone and didn't say anything to us.I do not understand how University Village is ranked #1 in Student Living. That is the BIGGEST lie I have ever read. We will not be renewing any lease here, and I hope that someone reaches out to ME about the compensation that we deserve for living in this apartment. We should not have to be dealing with such unpleasantries while we are worried about our studies. University Village is anything but concerned about Student Living. I mean just look at the other comments. They simply do not care.I would never recommend University Village to anyone. If we could get out of our lease, we would have already left.

Like others, we have had a terrible experience with maintenance. Our work orders get marked as complete when no one has even shown up at our apartment. Calls to the maintenance office are rarely answered and the voicemail box is full. When someone does answer, they say they’ll send someone and then no one shows up. It’s very frustrating to feel like I have to babysit the rental company. Communication definitely needs to be addressed. As an update, I have called the main office four times now. Twice, I was told they would take my number and that the manager would call when they were available. I have received no phone calls from them since.

Absolutely do not live here! It is cheap but miserable. Staff are rude. Amenities that YOU PAY FOR are constantly closed so you cant use them. Laundry machines are REGULARLY broken and disgusting. Maintenance is useless they do not fix things and/or make things worse. They will enter your unit after hours or early in the morning (6am) without telling you. Have had animals living in the walls and they do nothing to help. They scam international students and families. Buses are never on time and frequently DONT EVEN RUN. They will charge you for locations you dont even request (ie in a laundry building or by a bus stop). Have had my lease messed up multiple times, lost/mixed up my documents. Awful awful awful. Do not live here!! Spend the extra money to live somewhere thats run properly and does not screw you over!

I have lived at UV for 2 years, and I have always had a great experience here. I have used the busses every day to get to class, and they have been great. It is a huge plus to have a bus system here since parking on campus is horrible and very expensive. No other complexes have a bus system so that was my biggest reason to choose UV. I have always had great experiences with maintenance as well. My air conditioners did not work when I moved in, and I let them know and they gave me brand new ones. It is a really big complex, so it is understandable that sometimes things take a while to get finished, but they really do try their best to please their residents and make things right. I have already renewed my lease here for next year!

I came by to see my friend who lived here for a few months before the pool was closed and came back because of the often events they ran and how impressed I was with the condition they kept the pool or study areas in. Visited so often that I wanted to move in and have so far enjoyed my stay. I don't often use the busses, but hear great things about them overall. The best thing about UV by far is the events they run year 'round.

This has been the worst experience. I do NOT recommend this place for student housing. In just under three months of living here, I've encountered serval maintenance problems. I also got an email from the leasing office stating that there were residents who have taken photos and videos of me. When I reported/ comforted these issues to the leasing office, their response was shockingly dismissive, suggesting that such behavior is commonplace and acceptable among residents, which is highly unprofessional. I again do not recommend this place whatsoever and am very disappointed I have to experience this at my time during at Ohio State.

I am seriously LIVID. This is my so called “premium upgraded” unit. The pictures don’t even include the shower being broken (hot is cold and cold is hot) the bugs in my bathroom, the toilet roll handle completely breaking off just by trying to grab a sheet of toilet paper, and the overall run down condition of the unit. I have been here TWO weeks and this is what I’m paying $1300+. I was better off in my $1400 luxury apartment downtown with NO issues and in unit laundry. Seriously just live somewhere else if you can.

If you like roaches, mice, ants and black mold then you will like this place. I know that it’s cheap and near campus, seems like the perfect spot. The staff is impossible to deal with, the maintenance team is non existent, you will literally live with rodents. Dealing with Tammy made me want to put my head through a wood chipper. Wouldn’t let an enemy rent a place through here

There is a lot that is ok about UV, but sometimes there are things that ruin the experience. Maintenance has been our main problem. We call and the inbox is full. We submit a ticket and the ticket is closed with no fix and no visit to our apartment!? When someone does finally come, they try to convince us that the air conditioner from the 80s is totally fine and what we want, despite the black mold inside. Our son who stays in that room has had a cough for over a month now and is now on breathing treatments. The A/C is likely not the sole reason, but we are trying to do what we can to help him. We have had other maintenance issues also (kitchen sink leak, unsecured bathroom mirror) and have to hound maintenance to take action.
