Instructors are very friendly and accommodating, the format is unique and interesting, and classes are well-designed. I really enjoyed talking with instructors before and after class, they were pleasant and helpful if you can get their attention. Not much attention is given to form corrections during class compared to other gyms, and you could end up doing three leg days in a row as there seemed to be very little coordination between instructors. This is a front-body focused gym, so if you are exercising for shoulder/leg toning it will work for you, but I found that many classes perpetuated muscular imbalances in my body related to posture/sitting at a desk all day, so it wasn't the gym for me.I ultimately felt pretty neutral about the gym, but what really set me over the edge is that customer support is nonexistent. If you do sign up, do a package not a membership, because it feels impossible to get ahold of someone to cancel the membership. The website is also confusing. The other piece that wasn't pleasant is that the gym smells like industrial chemicals and the hot room on Sat/Sun mornings smells like you are sticking your face into someone's armpit who is sweating out their tequila bender. I'm not convinced there is adequate ventilation in the building, which makes it less enjoyable.

I really do love this place so, so much. SOS got me back into fitness after basically doing nothing through my entire adult life. I’ve been going for the last 3ish years, once or twice a week. My go-to class is Control, their strength focused class. The instructors are top notch and make sure your workouts are executed safely and at your highest potential (special shout out to Gretchen, Anna, and Ryan R, who I see the most often!!). Booking is an absolute breeze thanks to the System of Strength app. Since the pandemic, the studio has taken excellent steps to ensure cleanliness and safety with preventing the spread of the virus, which is a constant peace of mind. I’ve brought several friends with me to the studio over the years because I basically never shut up about it. Do yourself a favor and check them out asap if you’re into group classes and insanely great people. :-D

Very welcoming and got a good workout in. Not overly competitive or intimidating at all! Called ahead of times to make sure they had space.

I absolutely LOVE System of Strength! Both their in-person and Digital Studio classes are amazing in both quality and value. The coaches are always on point in their instruction, personable, and extremely motivating. The classes are diverse, well-run, and effectively structured, and they are constantly adding more. SOS is the best fitness studio in the area, bar none — I’d highly recommend it to anyone!

I love taking classes in-person at SOS (especially Control and In the Mix), but I've been having a good time using the SOS digital studio for the same challenging workouts throughout quarantine. I've never been pushed harder physically and mentally - SOS is a great investment :)

System of Strength is fitness studio specializing primarily in strength training. They also have HIIT, yoga, and recovery classes. I took Control - a class of heavy weights and compound movements. My mistake was attending this class the first week of the new year. They have numbers marked on the ground for people to put their yoga mats (and to maximize the amount of people per class). It went up to 43. Let me paint you a picture: 43 people sweating it out over hip hop music and an over enthusiastic trainer I could barely see among the sea of people flapping in front of me. What was worse was the smell. When you pack 43 people in a class together WITHOUT ventilation or fans or any airflow at all, it doesn't smell nice. At all. Halfway through the class I noticed that the windows fogged up from... the sweat and vapors released from everybody's bodies. Now every time I contemplate whether or not to attend a SOS fitness class, I think of those foggy windows and that urge disappears. Some other things of note: - The trainer provides modifications for each move, which I appreciated. There's a Goldilocks level for beginners and regulars alike. - I saw plenty of people performing the moves with heavy weights and poor form. The trainer made no attempt to correct them. This will definitely lead to a high chance of injury for newcomers. - The Control class I took didn't isolate and focus on a specific body part, but had a combination of upper and lower body moves. We did 4 sets of moves, each set varying from 45 seconds to 60 seconds. The moves consisted of squats, lunges, shoulder presses, bicep curls, push ups, etc. No abdominal work, though. I'm sure all the other classes SOS provides are similarly structured. All in all, System of Strength is undoubtedly a popular fitness boutique. If they can fix the cleanliness and instructor issues, I'm sure SOS can become even more successful.

I won't recommend until they stop projecting their sound out open windows (Clintonville location, residential neighborhood). This makes me think the owner(s) care most about about making a profit at the expense of being good neighbors. What about passerbys and patrons of other local businesses who don't want to hear S&S instructors counting down 3 - 2 - 1 etc. all the time? If it was live music, that might be different but ... geesh. I mean I love that people are getting in s

Challenging workout that keeps you moving every minute that you are there. The classes are thoughtfully set up and instructed and the energy is high. Would definitely recommend if you like a lot of variety in your workouts.

So you want a great workout? Ready for an a** kicking? SOS is where you need to go! I haven't been so sore in years. I started going with the 7 class trial for $40, which I would recommend to get a feel for it. The Clintonville location has a large front studio and a smaller back hot studio. The app is very informative about class types, but my personal favorite is the high and tight. It's a bit like hot Pilates with props. Another great class is In the mix- cardio and weights. Pro tip- HYDRATE and take some type of electrolyte if you don't want to get light headed. I am going to contribute going here a couple of times a week. Keep in mind the cancellation policy is strict, no exceptions with 12 hours in advance. The system works!

This is the most incredible studio you will ever find, period. I’ve traveled to many studios and tried hundreds of workouts and there is genuinely nothing that compares to SOS. The workouts are next level; challenging in the hardest way, yet leaves you begging for more. Whether you’re looking for cardio, strength training, deep toning, or even yoga and recovery, there is something for you! The instructors are world class, the studios are beautiful, and the community keeps you wanting to come back! Thank you Keri and Gretchen for birthing this beautiful place!
