I've attended yoga classes at Shift for many years. The studio is warm and inviting, the instruction is thorough, the teachers are supportive, and the students are friendly. I can highly recommend Shift as an opportunity for both exercise and good company.

I have been enjoying the gifts of Nia (a movement arts practice) with Ms. Kathy Anthony at Shift, since relocating to Columbus 6 months ago. The studio atmosphere is entirely welcoming & this particular instructor - warm, welcoming & inclusive. Nia with Kathy is perfect for ANYONE interested in exploring the artform (which combines yoga & martial arts with dance). Nia is accessible to all sorts of bodies & age groups - it is the only form of group exercise during which you can catch me smiling :)

Everyone is so friendly and personable. The instructors are great with all levels of practice and offering modifications. You'll never feel like a number here.

Shift in Grandview is an awesome space! As someone completely new to TaiChi, this studio offers a non-judgemental, unassuming, safe environment for all - no matter your experience/skill. Even when work/life gets hectic, I find that I want to make time for these classes!

Without a doubt, one of my favourite places to try something new. Shift is one of the few places to offer Nia, which is possibly my new favourite workout. Unfortunately, I've missed a couple weeks because of other obligations, but I had the opportunity to try the evening Vinyasa here, as well as Tai Chi. The students who attend are some of the least judgmental, friendliest folks I've met in a studio. I have a bunch of old riding injuries, and I never know when one of them will flare up and prevent me from doing something I can normally do. At Shift, modifications are always offered, and teachers are extremely patient with students who need an extra moment to catch up. I leave every session just beaming and feeling physically good, too! The studio has all the props you could want, clearly labeled, and no judgment if you choose to use them. This place is a gem, and absolutely perfect for everyone who has ever said "I can't do yoga!"

I purchased a Groupon in January as I was looking for a studio close to my apartment. I fell in love with the place as soon as I walked in. It is decorated well, is clean, and makes you feel calm and relaxed. I have been to several studios in the Columbus area, and this is one of my favorites. The instructors are great and take the time to show you different variations of poses to best suite your needs. The classes I have been to are smaller (5-8 people). I like the smaller classes as I feel you get more attention from the instructors. There is parking in the back for free which is an added bonus. I have yet to attend any of the extra events, but the studio offers additional events to improve your health and wellness. I highly recommend this studio.

Love this place! All the instructors are great. Studio is funky cool and easy parking. Especially like the variety and the number of workshops offered. I credit this place with giving me a love of yoga. Whether you're an absolute beginner or a seasoned practitioner there's something here for you.

I really like this place, but then again, I was specifically looking for a place that I wouldn't feel judged. I'm nearly 40 and I want to learn yoga. This place is perfect for me. There are very few super fit 27 year olds (no offense, it's just that a younger crowd would make me self-conscious). The space itself is calming and the instructors are great. Small but cozy and comfortable. Highly recommend for those who are middle aged.

With a year-long unlimited membership pass, I am pretty familiar with Wiseways/Shift yoga. (They changed owners and the name to Shift in January '13.) Upside: super friendly staff and fellow yoga lovers. Big enough parking lot and its kind of hidden around the corner. Wonderful, relaxing classes. Downsides: Sort of a small space, so right after they do a Groupon or something it can get grossly crowded for a week or two. Very limited weekend classes: none on Fridays or Sundays, and only one on Saturday at 8:30a. Pretty inconvenient if you have a regular 9-5. Also if you're under 30 you'll be the youngest in the class.

I went to WiseWays this morning with a friend for an Easy Flow Yoga class. As it was my first time there, the instructor Julie was extremely helpful in getting my friend and me set up After filling out the necessary paperwork, we went into the yoga room. It's probably one of the coolest yoga spaces I've seen. The room is dimly lit with only natural light, the ceiling has drape-y things hanging from it, there are several woven baskets with mats and yoga props, and there are even bongos situated in the room! It definitely helped set the mood of the class. The teacher took the time to explain the set up and flow of the class to me and my friend. The set up was different for me. The class started with self-massage. I've never experienced that before, and while it was a foreign concept to me, I enjoyed it. During the self-massage, we were given some aromatherapy cream, which was awesome. I love smelling hippy smells like pachouli during yoga. It makes me feel more calm. The class was an hour and 15 minutes - definitely a great value! We went through gentle and modified versions of the sun salutation and many other common yoga poses. I enjoyed the gentle stretch and relaxation to start my weekend. But since I am more experienced in yoga, I wish it were a bit more vigorous. To be fair, though, I need to try the other two types of classes, as the Easy Flow is meant to be...well, easy. The only thing I disliked was that the class was only 3 people large. I enjoy bigger classes because I feed off of the energy of others in the class. I also have a feeling that most folks don't know about this place. If you're not interested in yoga, they also have tai chi classes. I recommend it and will be back!
