I’ve lived here 1 month and already cannot wait to move out. They let me move in to a filthy apartment. I’ve been waiting in maintenance to fix countless things for over a month. And it’s so dark back here that someone hit my car and took true whole bumper off. If you’re looking to move here I suggest you find somewhere else. So disappointed especially with how much I pay. And countless emails and texts don’t mean anything to them. They don’t care about residents at all.

Moved out a month ago and they will not get back ahold of me about my returned deposit or changing my last month to be prorated. So that money is lost. When I moved in, my apartment wasn’t cleaned. There was dog poop smeared in the closet floor, hedgehog(?) quills in the carpet that I stepped on barefoot, old cheesy spray stuck to the kitchen cabinets and other minor stuff. The maintenance guys were cool but it took a little while to get stuff done and it seemed like the bare minimum. There was a water leak above me, they didn’t even replace the water soaked drywall in my bathroom.

So I recently moved out of this apartment complex, and I want people to see the good and the bad. I lived there for 2 years.
Good Aspects:
1) The actual neighborhood is wonderful, I loved having all of the trees and areas I could go walking!
2) The area is very convenient, right off of the highways and right down the road from lots of fun amenities in Columbus.
3) The maintenance team is awesome! They were always so kind when I needed them, and responded pretty quickly.
4) The dog park is a really good size. I personally couldn’t let my dog run around without a leash because of how small she is, but we still walked around often.
5) The volleyball court, tennis court, community room, and pool were wonderful to have throughout the year.
6) The neighborhood is pretty quiet which is great.
Bad Aspects:
1) The rent is too high for the quality in my opinion. I moved up the road to a much bigger and newer apartment for only $50 more a month.
2) They are really understaffed. Trying to get ahold of people is difficult.
3) The pool both years I was there was closed on and off until June/July. They are having maintenance issues, and tried to give us access to a sister complex’s pool, but it was still disappointing.
4) Residents are allowed to smoke on their porches. This was difficult for me as I have asthma, and the smoke was constantly in my apartment. I know there must have been people smoking in the apartments in the winter because the smell would get so bad. Almost my whole building was moving out because of this issue-and yes, there were many complaints to the office, but they said they couldn’t figure out who it was despite trying.
5) The overall structure of the buildings are outdated. They updated the aesthetic parts, but in a cheap way. It made it not worth the cost.
Overall, not a bad experience living there outside of the constant asthma flares. This was my first apartment I was able to rent all by myself without help from anyone, and it will always have a soft spot in my heart. The big thing is there are better apartment complexes out there for similar prices.

Unfortunately after living at this place I do not have really anything good to say about it and honestly about 95% of it can be blamed on poor management. If you ever have a maintenance request, expect to wait 1-4 weeks for even a response unless it is truly an emergency (no water, heat or toilets). Related to maintenance, the pool is going to be closed up to a cumulative month every summer (as it has been for the past 3 years). See attached photos of the pool area ***during open pool season*** this summer (2024) including algal growth and animal feces on the pool edge. I could see the pool from my apartment and NEVER ONCE saw any maintenance clean or treat the pool, but I did see several tenant pets in the pool area AND SWIMMING and tenants smoking in the pool area.
Communication is basically impossible with the people in the office. Towards the end of our lease we had questions regarding what was included in the new lease and what wasn't to see if we wanted to resign (they had an awesome spectrum bundle included in the rent for a long time) and we were told everything was still included in the price of the rent increase still. Lo and behold, the spectrum deal ended and we would've been responsible for finding our own internet ON TOP of the $80 increase in rent; we feel lied to and would've been out a lot of money had we resigned.
Community safety is definitely not one of their priorities either. When I moved in, I loved that there was a number lock pad on the front door of the building. The batteries died and they just took it off the door. Additionally, there was a massive dumpster fire on the same road as the main office and no letter was ever sent to residents stating why the entire dumpster was charred and the tree next to it was burned. Was this somehow an accident or was it arson? No clue.
The building I lived in and the community was not generally kept all that clean. Before moving in, my partner lived here and when I would visit the building hallways were normally swept and smelled clean but for a minimum of the past 12-14 months the building is never swept, mopped or even aerosolized. This lead to an overwhelming smell of cigarettes and marijuana in the hallway that infiltrated our unit. Broken glass, dog feces, cigarette butts and rusty nails/materials were littered throughout our area of the complex in the road AND on the walking paths.
We finally were moved out and had turned in our keys on 7/29/24 (lease ended on 7/30/24) when today we saw in the portal that we had a warning for a late fee for ANOTHER MONTH OF RENT for August. This balance did not show up until AFTER our lease ended and immediately said we were subject to late fees if not paid in less than 24 hours. When my partner was at the office today, he was told to ignore it until it goes away over the next several days. Turns out they just didn't process our moveout until days after our lease ended so automatic payment requests continued.
Don't live here, the management is utterly incompetent. Don't even waste your time touring here.

I have restrained myself from leaving a bad review, but this is the last straw. First it was an 1980s furnace that should have been replaced years ago, a garage full of someone elses junk that apparently wasnt checked before assigning it to me, then a cracked bathtub, then the upstairs apartment sending exhaust from their range hood into my apartment which no one believed, then the massive water leak that took over a week to fix the drywall causing mold which they denied the existence of. Now they finally replaced the furnace last year after 2 years. They never finished installing the ac and its been sitting since last fall. They were supposed to get it done this week and now they say its not an emergency and are blowing me off again. To say i have been patient with their lackadaisical attitude is an understatement.
Finally finished installing it, a month and a half later after it sat for over 6 months. May 31st. Still didnt work. Its okay. Im over it. Plenty of other places to live.
What better way to cheat your residents than to tell them months later that they are going to keep charging you high rent but dropping the contract with Spectrum that was included in the rent. Included meaning $65 extra. So if you want internet or cable...you will have to pay extra for what you are already getting charged for. Just when you think they cant get any more dirty and cheap.
They dont care about this place and are only trying to sell it.
And im generally a nice guy. Until some one tries to screw me over. Yeah i heard your opinion on me, but hey, let me enjoy my nice apartment and breathe in the smell of cat urine. I did not know i had a cat.

My roommate and I recently moved out after living in Northwoods for over 2 years. While the rent is very overpriced for what it is, it was reasonable compared to other places nearby.
Upon move in we were promised a $350 visa gift card as a “welcome home” gift since we applied to move in the same day as our tour. Safe to say we did not ever receive that despite calling and going to the office for weeks on end asking about it. They always had a lame excuse of “we have to go get it” or “so-and-so isn’t here and it’s in her drawer”. We eventually gave up on that.
A big reason for choosing this complex was that the main doors to the units were passcode protected. This added the extra security we needed as 2 females in their 20s. The system had many faults and eventually they took it out and never replaced it.
I cannot speak for the other dumpsters in the complex, but ours was right outside our unit. While convenient, it was ALWAYS full. People would not make their trash all the way in, there was a mattress behind it for months, it was gross. There was an occasion where I believe they simply forgot to empty ours because others were emptied around the complex.
Now to the amenities. The pool was never opened on time, and the first summer we were there it was closed for half the time. Why are we paying for amenities when they’re not open when they should be? And the GYM. Omg the gym. The equipment was sub par, I don’t expect much usually. But a working bike would be nice. The gym is consistently between 80-90 degrees inside. When I went in to ask for them to turn the AC on they explained it just doesn’t work. And looked at me like I had a solution? They said to open the door if it’s too hot when it’s just as bad outside. Speaking of doors, one was broken for months (pretty sure it still is) and would close/be a struggle to get opened.
The unit itself was subpar. The master bathroom counter clearly had chipping paint all over it, including inside the sink itself making it impossible to fully clean. The place is dark and dingy. Honestly just thankful our AC worked when it seemed like half of the complex had broken AC during peak summer months.
They make it extra difficult to contact anyone. They don’t have an email listed on their website and when they do email you, even individually, it’s not one you can reply to. While they have a phone number listed, you’ll be lucky if you get someone to pick up.
The month we moved out, we had a charge on the rent app for a full amount. We paid the full amount and I expected to get a partial refund as we were to be moved out before the end of the month. When returning the keys I asked the girl in the front about when we would get that as well as our security deposit back. She responded with a rude look and “well so-and-so’s not here and she does that, that’s why we’re only open Sundays for tours”. Where is that explained? You only happen to be open for real questions during the work week during hours where people are usually busy?
Finally, after over 1.5 months of being moved out we got our security deposit back. And were reimbursed the amount we overpaid for the last rent payment due to an error on their part. Northwoods does not have it together on their end, I suggest looking elsewhere to stay. Not worth it.

My husband and I moved into Northwoods shortly after we got married in 2022 and lived there for about a year and a half. When we first moved in it was great! The apartment seemed nice, we met some of the other people that lived near us, everyone seemed great.
Then once summer started to kick in, we noticed that our AC was broken. We put in a work order for it and did not hear back for weeks. My husband called the front desk to ask what the hold up was and they proceeded to tell us that there were a lot of other people who’s AC was broken too, and that “the pool was open!”. Awesome lol. We slept at my husband’s parent’s house multiple times to just get some AC since our apartment was 90 degrees all the time. We finally got our AC fixed after about 2 or 3 months (and we were paying full rent the whole time!)
Most of our neighbors were very nice and very awesome people, but there were a few in our building that were less than desirable. Right when you opened the door to our building 90% of the time, a wave (and I mean a WAVE) of weed just hit you right in the face. It was truly truly embarrassing to have anyone over to our home. I am pretty sure some of our neighbors literally smoked weed at all hours of the day. It started to get into our apartment ventilation and our apartment would smell like weed almost constantly. My husband sent an email to the property manager, and we did not hear back about it. Everyone got a mass email 2 MONTHS later kindly reminding everyone about the smoking policy (which isn’t going to do anything). Our neighbors informed us that they had also been sending multiple emails to the office about the weed in their apartment too. It was in our contract that we signed so it should be enforced. I know that other tenants have this issue as well.
Our apartment itself was fine. The layout definitely did not maximize the space, and the kitchen was TINY. I also feel like Northwoods was starting to cheap out on things that they don’t want to fix (they took out the garbage disposal and the washers and dryers which they used to have in all the units).
Also, after I personally turned in our keys to a Northwoods employee after we moved out, they called my husband a couple days later asking if we turned in our keys because they couldn’t find them…. the incompetence is unreal.
Moral of the story, this complex is definitely going downhill which is sad. We couldn’t even see out the rest of our 2nd year lease. It is a mid-tier apartment complex at best, and if they don’t start addressing some of the things that are starting to become an issue, all of the good tenants are going to leave (like us and soon to be our former neighbors) and it is just going to be filled with ghetto people who cause problems.
If you make even a somewhat decent amount of money, do yourself a favor and bump it up a notch to a nicer apartment. The way that our new complex is run is like night and day when it comes to management and the neighbors are much more desirable. It’s worth the extra money…..T R U S T M E.

Terrible place to live. Rent is way to high plus you get charged double on utilities. They towed my car today without notice because a tire was flat when I had notified the office that I was taking it with me once my lease was up which is literally in 2 weeks. This place doesnt care about you. You are better off buying a house or renting else where.EditWe just moved to our own home. These guys sent us a move out bill that totals to 1250$750$ for new carpet even when they didn't even get us new carpet apon moving in.These guys are relentless and will try to take everything you have to stay clear of this place......

There is nothing customer service friendly about the staff. Do not let them fool you. Every negative review is accurate and unfortunately helps me to cope with the trauma I experienced today.I was poorly treated and then they called the cops when i went into the office to complain and told me how annoyed they were with me after accessing my home without permission for a non emergency. Maintenance is horrible. I did not have a refrigerator for a week upon move in and waited patiently weeks for a maintenance service request to be complete. The request was put in 7/1 according to them and i had to call again on 7/13 made attempts to arrange for them to come before i left and They purposely called me on the day i left for vacation 7/26 i told them i would be back 8/2 and i came home to a 24 hour notice for a maintenance request to fix a towel
Holder in the bathroom. The irony in placing the 24 hr notice on the day i said i would be back. they called the cops on me for the cops to then say this was a civil matter the cops told me the office wanted me banned from the office which is where the amenities are. These people are horrible.
