June 2024 by Me me optimistic
This place is the worse I’m not sure what it is with the deli employees the first time I dealt with one she was clearly a racist and was mad because an obvious dirty machine I wanted clean before cutting my deli meat, well yesterday I went to the store and it was the same thing equipment nasty goes to cut the meat and I have to let them know to clean it it’s obvious they need re-trained and the nerve of them to get mad when you tell them I’m done with this store

I went to get a money order for my rent. After the person at the customer service area already ran my card, I was informed that they don't have money order paper. The employee said they can refund the money. According to what I read, it can take up to 10 business days to get your money back. Whoever dropped the ball on the money order paper has to do a better job with the orders and with communicating to the employees about these situations because I don't just have extra rent money. It's a serious, unnecessary extra stress.

Pickup at this place is disappointing. Drove across town to pick up my order only to be told I had to come back the next day because they couldn’t get it filled quickly enough (even though I placed the order well in advance). Had coupons that I was going to use that expire today. Other times when I have actually received my order on time, it has spoiled produce.

The self checkout lines were 10 people long on both side of the store so i went to a cashier. (Smaller line). When i went to grab my bag i noticed a large bag of chips missing. The bagger had given it to the family in front of me. They went to grab a new bag of chips which was nice but when i got home i noticed more items missing from my bags. Might as well have just waited for the self checkout.

I had about $250 worth of groceries and had to use the self checkout. No place to put groceries to unload cart. Then I had to scan and bag myself And it would beep and not scan additional items if I had too many groceries on the conveyer belt after scanning on the way to the bags. But I had no room in my cart to put bagged items because I had no place to put the things in my cart that still needed scanned. It was a vicious cycle. No manager in sight.

I was buying alcohol with my boyfriend in the self-checkout line and Jalena would not let us buy it because his ID said Grandview Heights. Jalena did scan the ID and it did go through the system verifying he is over 21. She proceeded to call her manager over and would not let my boyfriend have his ID back when asked, until the manager came over. At the end the manager said I could come back alone and buy it without him. The whole time both the worker and manager had bad attitudes. We shop here all the time for our groceries and never run into this problem.

I come to this Kroger 3 times a week. Jalena appears new here. She rejected my ID because it said Grandview Heights. I have never had this problem before. She refused to return my ID after I requested it back multiple times. I showed the manager my military ID. The manager also rejected my military ID. Jalena and the manager then told my girlfriend that she could come back in without me to buy the alcohol. I feel discriminated against.

I would've given this one star a few months ago but it's gotten better. Nice to see they have FINALLY hired new workers. For the longest time I would dread going to get my groceries from here and still sometimes do. The quality is inconsistent but most the time only one lane would be open for a cashier with only self checkout available. And whenever those self checkouts decided to malfunction nobody would come to help. I've literally watched a customer have to call out an employee for standing there doing nothing despite the light clearly flashing for assistance because someone bought alcohol and y'know...ID check. My boyfriend and I have spent around an hour and a half here one night and 20min of that was waiting in line because there was only one cashier available. And don't even get me started on the carts! Jesus Christ it was a mess out there. The carts often would be piled to the brim with no one outside to take them back in. It's kind of all for one and you have to find your own cart. I wish I was exaggerating but one night there literally weren't any inside and it was raining. My boyfriend had to go outside to find a cart AND it wasn't even functional. One of the wheels was broke. HOWEVER within the past month I've seen DRASTIC changes and it's honestly a miracle. New employees are working, there's actually carts available, more than one lane open, helpers at the self check out AND things are actually stocked. Idk what happened but I hope it stays this way. This is the only convenient Kroger's we can go to without having to drive out the way for groceries.

I recommend not going to this Kroger, they often don't have any workers for checkout even during normal hours. The management needs to advocate for more staff, they are too short-staffed. This new world of a 100% self-checkout and making the customers do the work sucks
