I can not stand Giant Eagle. Wish there was a Kroger here instead. They have higher prices, and I didn't like that you have to have a shoppers card to even use the self checkout. NOT TO MENTION, they charge you for bags. That's just absurd.

Let me start buying saying I have been shopping with Giant Eagle for years now. Apparently there is a new policy at the bakery. The bakery of all areas. You have to walk back up to the front and pay for your $15.00 cake before you can finish your shopping. I was told this was to discourage theft. Mind you I walked by no less than 50 items that exceeded that cost during my visit.
This is an example of a absolutely ignorant policy that protects nothing and does nothing to address the root problem. It's just another way to discourage loyal customers from shopping with your company.
I do not condone theft and I know that that your greatest shrinkage doesn't come from the bakery. It doesn't seem to be the policy at the butcher counter, where I can select $100.00 of hand butchered meat! Your senior leadership needs to think before they put useless policies in place. That is a true waste of company resources and revenue.
