I was looking into my Pilates certification through the owner here and it was an absolutely terrible experience. Un clear, un professional and came off like a scam that I unfortunately fell for. The facility is beautiful but Emily does not know how to work with people.

When you walk in it looks like a fitness jungle gym. There are so many different contraptions to get your workout on. Anna was super nice. She gave us a tour. We got to try some of the equipment and the salt room. Focused Fitness is more of a personal Pilates studio. Get one-on-one workouts here. There are not many other places (none that I know of) that offer this type of Pilates. It is a neat concept for those who have extra money to spend on health. The salt cave was cool. It does leave you salty with a coating of white salt all over your clothes. It was relaxing. I would make the recommendation to have a light spa or ocean type music playing in the background if people want sound. Overall this little studio was really neat. They do offer massages that were somewhat reasonably priced. However, again for people who have to watch their expenditures the one-on-one fitness is a bit pricey.

Focused Fitness held an open house this weekend to share their studio space with new guests. The studio is down by the new soccer field and Huntington park, so parking is a bit wonky. They offer reformer Pilates and a salt spa for halotherapy. I met Anna and went into the salt spa. I've done halotherapy at 3 different spas in town, and all 3 experiences have been very different, but enjoyable. To be honest, while I liked the spa, it was the least enjoyable of the 3. The salt is loose and powdery and is all over the zero gravity chairs. They run an exhaust fan (or something) during your session, so it is a bit loud. I still felt relaxed when I came out, but it was louder and messier than expected. Don't wear black. Anna then walked us through the various reformers and apparatus for the studio. She was both very informative and attentive and the right amount of hands on/hands off for your session, explaining the apparatus and letting us work at our own speed, while keeping an eye to make sure everyone was safe. I enjoyed her technique. For the open house, there was a DJ and some snacks. While I doubt this is the typical experience, I had a great time eating watermelon and learning a new routine!

I'd never been back in this industrial part of town, so it seems like Focus Fitness has picked a good spot to set up their pilates studio, as it's smack next door to the new Lower.com MLS soccer field and in the heart of an up and coming pocket just west of downtown Columbus. I'm not sure how FF's parking works exactly, as the spac parking lot's spaces are numbered - is that a pre-development heyday thing, or what? Want to highlight the awesome viby house music playing. The space is small, but houses a lot of cool looking contraptions/pilates machines; I'd love to learn their intricate purposes in an in-depth class! Anna, one of the instructors, greeted us and told us about Focus Fitness and how things are done around here. Things are done a bit different here: Instead of classes, they run private or semi-private times with clients/members as opposed to a general schedule of classes offered, you show up, do a workout and leave. Anna also specializes in nutrition, which is exactly what I've been searching for. Official first time in a salt spa! Three of us sat in the room for the recommended 30 minutes, which is basically equal to two days at the beach. Nice reclining beach chairs, so you can get comfy when you breath in the salt-filtered air. No ambient music playing, not sure if they don't have it playing for a purpose, which could be the case. This room is used for salt room yoga, so perhaps an instructor comes in with you, thus that's your form of sound. If there isn't music any set up, maybe a suggestions for clients that just want to sit and not do yoga. Just a thought, however. Two of the three recliners have heating properties, fyi. This was such an awesome event!! Completely informal, relaxed and totally hands on!! We literally were encouraged to try out whatever equipment that peaked out interest, and Anna and Dina gladly demonstrated telling the benefits. Dina is a spunky esthetician, and I'd totally get a consult with her!! Excellent event, giant thanks to Kayla for setting this one up!!

I had never been to this place but was referred to their instructor Anna, who met me after hours for a private session. The studio is tucked into some back streets, and I don't think I would have ever found out about it if someone hadn't told me first. Upon walking in, the front wall has large windows that let in a nice amount of natural light. Wood floors and pilates machines fill the modest space all the way to the back. It is definitely a real pilates studio for those looking for an authentic experience that feels grounding and strengthening. If you're looking for a pepped up ponytail with a headset speaker and bumping EDM, this isn't your spot. It's more sophisticated and intentional, and so is Anna and her teaching style. Our session felt casual and comfortable, but guided and professional. Anna was able to gauge my strength levels in certain muscles and help me make adjustments in the equipment seamlessly and easily. It all felt very natural. After our session, we had a salt therapy meditation in their absolutely amazing salt room. Dim lighting and Himalayan salt made for the perfect decompression from our pilates session. I can't wait to go back and see Anna again!

The Bemer therapy helped me take a minute off my run time today on the 5th Line 5K. My legs felt great throughout the race. Thank you Emily!

The salt room is amazing! I just had knee surgery and it felt so much better afterwards. It's a great place to relax and rejuvenate. Plus Emily is super with scheduling and very accommodating. I would really recommend it!

I had wanted to try Pilates for years but couldn't find the right place. I've been working with Maggie for 5 months and I love Pilates! My core is much stronger, I'm leaner and I am learning more and more about moving my body correctly with each session. Focused Fitness invests in all sorts of equipment so there is always a new movement to try to find relief for your aches. They also focus on what you are trying to achieve whether it's a hard core session or more therapuetic. I leave each session refreshed and ready to face the challenges of my day.
