The music thrift store!!!!! Where they do that at... I'll tell you where. Music Emporium on 185th. That place rocks this coming from a black brother. Those folks know their music and their instruments.

Great place for guitar repair! My student took her 1/4 size classical guitar here because the bridge popped off. They were able to glue it back on even though they don't commonly work on such small guitars. The repair was good quality and the price was great as well. Will send students here in the future for repairs.

Music Emporium is my favorite local music store and the owner/luthier Rick is a very friendly and knowledgeable guy. This is where I go to get my guitars set up and where I go for almost any kind of repair/maintenance/upgrades on my gear. I send my guitar students here any time they need guitar set ups and for any kind of repairs. The prices Rick charges are fair, and he is always happy to answer any questions I may have. The turnaround time is always quick. This place has a cool vibe, from the framed picture of Little Walter playing a gig in Cleveland, to the new and vintage gear sprawling across the sales floor. There's always some cool music playing in the background. This is where I tried out my first Gretsch guitar, where I played a Hammond Organ through a Leslie Speaker, and I've seen vintage stuff here that I've never seen anywhere else.Having your guitar or bass set up correctly will help you get the best playability and sound out of your instrument, and Rick is the guy you should take it to. I can't recommend this placed highly enough.

Took my first electric guitar, a 1982 Vantage AV350MX that was not putting any sound out to be looked at, due to good recommendations. Rick, the owner, fixed it for me right there on the spot at a reasonable price. He had it figured out and completed within 25 minutes. On top of it he is a really good guy. He did some other adjustments on the guitar as well at no charge. I told him I have an older amp that is failing, sounds cuts out, and he told me bring it down the next day, I also brought my Gibson SG as the switch sometimes does not want to work right. He fixed the guitar with me there in no time flat, also did some adjustments and I left the amp with him. Bottom line Rick, the owner is a solid person. He knows how to fix gear and there is all kinds of interesting gear in his store. This is NOT a Big Box store. This is a good local independent music shop where you work directly with the owner. I will use Rick anytime I have an issue with my instruments or to buy special gear as he has treated me right.

This is the absolute best music store I've been to. Years ago, I went there trying to buy an amp to play my cello through. I was expecting that a keyboard amp would be the best; however, the shop owner suggested acoustic guitar amps instead, to match the tone of the instrument.I tried a few amps, and they weren't sounding great; the owner stuck around and kept making more suggestions until we found something that worked (if you're interested, I ended up with a Fender Acoustasonic with a Fishman GII preamp to boost the initial signal from my wimpy cello pickup).Awesome selection, but more importantly, amazing knowledge and customer service from the staff. And, I've been using that amp for years!
