Giant Eagle is so expensive so I only shop here if they're running good deals on meat. And I try not to buy with coupons or deals. Store is nice and clean.

Last month, I was in town visiting some family for Memorial day when I decided to stop in and get some last minute things for dinner, roughly around 5 pm. I was appalled at the staff that this store keeps. I was near the customer service desk when I overheard the four women in that area loudly (and in front of other customers) say that the store "just hires anyone and can name themselves whatever they want regardless of gender." One of them was a blonde woman with glasses and another was an older woman with salt and pepper hair. This was around the self checkout and customer service desk. They were also actively ignoring customers and were huddled amongst themselves, but this conversation was loud enough that my partner and myself heard it. As a gay woman married to someone that identifies nonbinary, I find this to be absolutely disgusting and indicative of the store's morals and values. I am disheartened to know that this was allowed to happen in plain view of other customers. I left the store without purchasing anything. Being that we are now in pride month, I hope that there will be corrective action taken soon. There is no excuse for the unwelcoming behavior and discussion of such controversial topics not only during work hours, but in front of customers that were trying to checkout.
