It's called Gems for a reason, I'll give you three: 1) the jewelry is lovely 2) everything is reasonably priced 3) Mary, the proprietor, is an absolute delight. We spent at least ten minutes chatting about fine art and fashion.I bought four pairs of earrings and I fell in love with each and every pair. (She chose the silver pair, I'd have never chosen that, but she clearly has excellent taste) Many many thanks Mary- I will be back!

Gems Boutique is one of my very favorite shops. Mary is lovely; she will find you just the right outfit if you'd like help, or you can peruse the beautiful clothes and home decor items (all very well priced) on your own. This tiny, adorable shop is full of treasures. I have moved to a different state, but I always put a trip back to Gems on my list when I visit Cleveland.

Gens Dept. Store is a wonderful experience to visit and spend time finding great gems of items that are unique. I miss shopping there since relocating to another state. If you are looking for the one of a kind items, Gems Dept. Store should be on your list of places to check out!

How have I not written this review sooner? I have been shopping at Gems for years. Nestled inside the 5th Street Arcades, Gems Boutique is a beautiful store. The owner, Mary, is a wonderful woman who curates an amazing selection of price points on vintage and newer items. When I worked in downtown Cleveland, I would stop in here on a regular basis to browse (vintage hunting is my happy place). I can get lost for a while opening the drawers, perusing the racks and sorting through the intricate and super cool tables of elaborate jewelry, decor, clothes, accessories and odd but special trinkets. Once Mary gets to know you, she'll keep an eye out for things you might like. She once gave me first dibs on a beautiful Louis Vuitton Pochette I had been looking for. I've purchased several gorgeous fur coats from Mary that are favorites in my collections, and she sometimes will call me if she has a new piece she senses may be my style. That type of personalized attention rarely exists anymore. I also have a Celtic-inspired citrine ring and other accessories that became easy favorites. I love stopping through Gems to either treat myself, or, during the holidays, find one-of-a-kind gifts for friends and family. If you see someone walking down Euclid Avenue under a pile of bags and heavy coats, its likely me. Stop into Mary's boutique, you're going to love it!

Upon first entry the shop is your standard, cute little boutique. I was excited to try and find some pieces and it was nice to see some clothing from designers that I love but aren't household names. The shop is very tiny and very crowded, the front half of the shop is mostly inaccessible from the stack of plates and dishes. The main reason I'm giving it two stars is the (I'm guessing) owner of the shop. She was very snobbish and pious. I felt like I was wasting her time (even though I did end up buying several items). I find it quite strange she only accepts cash and checks. I walked away with a handful of pieces so it obviously isn't the worst place in the world, but I felt like I was having a "Pretty Woman" moment in a second hand shop.
