I saw online that the Salvation Army funding for Rent & Utility Assistance, however, I called to see how to get Assistance with my rent & utilities? The lady who answered the phone, was very rude & unsympathetic to my needs, when she told me in a very unprofessional & rude tone of voice ( We don't currently have any funding ????)

Served 2 years in the Military before having a seizure that shortened my original enlistment term. Spent 7 years to complete my Bachelors in Finance. Moved to Cincinnati in 2011 to work for this Salvation Army as a Centralized Bookkeeper. It wasn't easy, but I made it past my 90 day initial evaluation and landed the job!Then...a female Bookkeepers who had been working with the Salvation Army for 10+ years had a bad motorcycle accident where she had experienced head trauma. This co-worker would talk around the office about her concern for being able to continue school while recovering from her injury. My heart went out to her. On a Friday, I decided to pull her aside and tell her of a similar experience I faced in school. I told her I had surgery one summer while I was going to school to lower likelihood of seizures. Then elaborated on some of the medical arrangements that were provided the following quarter that enabled me to continue school while I recovered.Well...instead of taking my story and using it to motivate her forward, this co-worker proceeded to tell everyone! I had no idea what was going on until the following Monday when I was called into a large office with HR, Direct Manager, and 3 others sitting around a table. They gave me the option to take a severance of 30 days of pay, to quit, or they were going to have to let me go with no severance (red flag).Moral of the Story...what they did was illegal (hence, the severance papers where not provided out of graditude)! Don't believe all this hype you hear in the Church about sharing your story. Feel free to keep stuff to yourself as an employee there (standard gossip occurs here). Don't be surprised when The Salvation Army doesn't turnout what you imagine (They are a Business before a Church).
