Buyer beware! Looks like Misha Houston used to get good reviews so decided to try to purchase a property she had listed through her directly. Big mistake. She still hasn't returned an online request, text, call, or email (over the course of 2 weeks).

BUYER BEWARE. As first-time homebuyers, my fiance and I were so excited to jump into the process. Unfortunately, I don't believe Misha Houston (on the seller side) could have made our experience any more difficult or frustrating. Misha was completely unprofessional throughout the buying process, including threatening to talk to the next people in line when we asked for repairs (when we were already under contract), hanging up on our realtor, showing up late to closing (seller even said how notorious she is for this), using a non-ReMax Zoomtown email for client communication, failing to provide proof of title insurance (which the seller has) at closing, etc. etc. And, although we understand the market is hot right now, she was very unreasonable when it came to negotiations--Gave a hard "no" to ANY repairs and just gave us the feeling that she was taking advantage of us the entire time (her boast on Facebook about the terms of sale is just icing on the cake). If we didn't absolutely love the house, we would have been out of there in no time. If Misha Houston is selling the house, I would definitely think twice. Only work with her if it's your absolute dream home. Even then...not sure it's worth it.

Working with Misha Houston at Re/Max Preferred Group exceeded all of my expectations. As a first time homebuyer, I was not familiar with the home buying process, but right away Misha was incredibly friendly and took time to sit down with me to explain the entire process. Misha listened to all of my concerns, and made me feel very comfortable about following my dream to buy a home.
Misha was always available through phone, text, or email to answer any questions that I may have. Misha not only listened to what I wanted in a home, but she also listened to what my children wanted. We had our first meeting with Misha in June, and by August I was under contract for my first home.
Now that we are moved into our home, Misha still checks on my children and I to make sure that everything is going well. I enjoyed working with Misha, and I would recommend her to anyone who is trying to purchase or sell their home. In the short time that I have known Misha she became more than my realtor, she is now part of the family!

My husband and I hired Misha last year to sell our condo and then help us find our new home. Not only did she get our condo sold quickly and without hiccups (she was very knowledgeable with pushing the market and price of our condo) she even took the time to stage our condo professionally to help enhance it's showing. She helped us walk through each step of the process with quick response and great service. We were under contract with in a week of listing. The sell went off without a hitch and we were ready to buy!
Misha made the buying fun and manageble. At a time when stakes are high and the pressure was high she took time to make sure we understood every option with the homes viewed as well as financing.
She helped us get our dream home at a more than affordable price and helped negotiate 100% of all our repairs.
We are so happy we went with Misha and would recommend her to anyone that's looking for someone that will give her all and not stop until you are where you want to be. She works out of two offices, so she is very knowledgeable about a vast array of neighborhoods. The staff at both offices are also amazing and caring as well. It truly was a pleasure working with Misha and if we ever buy or sell again without hesitation we plan to work with Misha on that deal.

My husband and I hired Misha Houston as our realtor back in 2009 when we decided to buy our very first home. Buying a home can be a very tedious, scary, process and we knew having the perfect realtor was critical! Misha came highly recommended from a friend and I can say with 1000% certainty that Misha was God sent! Misha was always professional, honest, caring and PASSIONATE. There were times when we didn't know if we could continue in the process after a bunch of disappointments, but it was Misha who carried our frustrations and kept us a bay! We are on house number two (did I mention it's beautiful and she found it for us for a STEAL!) and she sold our first house! If you need a DEDICATED, professional, passionate, realtor who will fight for you every step of the way then Misha Houston is the realtor for you!! We LOVE Misha and she's represented several of our family and friends. I could go on and on about Misha, but it's better if you experience her for yourself ?? Keep up the amazing work Misha! We love you! #TeamHouston

I love, love, love Misha Houston! As a 3-time homeowner, I was referred to Misha to sell my last home. Being that it had been 10 years since I had gone through the process of purchasing a home, she was so knowledgeable about the market value and the whole process in general. I must have called Misha a million times to ask her general questions and to talk to her about my concerns/fears. Each time, she answered my calls, provided me with the information, and allayed my concerns/fears. Once my home sold, Misha showed me every property on the market that I requested to see (and that was a lot, because I am VERY picky!). I finally found a home that I adored, Misha submitted an offer immediately, and started negotiations. Voila – My children and I are in a home we absolutely love!!! Working with ReMax Preferred Group (in particular, Misha Houston) was a great experience. She is an amazing real estate agent with a kind heart who goes above and beyond the call of duty. Not only do I call Misha my forever real estate agent, she has become a part of our family.

My wife and I worked with Sue Cajacob and we had a wonderful experience! We were searching in an area where houses sold in a day or two, so it was not easy to find a house. By the time we could put an offer on a house it was already pending!! My wife and I got discouraged. Sue told us to hang in there and we would find something better than we imagined. A few days later she sent us a link on a new listing, got to see the house that day after work. We immediately put an offer in. This was on a friday evening! We had paperwork signed and an offer in that night! It was amazing. We got the house, and just like Sue told us, was better than the previous houses we viewed. Better than we imagined..
We are extremely happy with our experience. Sue and the staff there in Wyoming are top notch, and I highly recommend them to anyone looking to find a home.

Mara Harperink sets the tone for how her staff treats customers, and that tone is indifference. The RE/MAX group cares so little about customers after theyve signed the leases that they probably dont even care about all the negative reviews they get. I have rented from several different companies from large ones like re/max to individual private owners. Never have i felt so disrespected and uncared for as a customer as i did during my time with RE/MAX . The biggest problem is you would never even know until after you have signed the lease. Dont get me wrong, the prices of their properties are usually very reasonable and the properties are in more or less good condition. As long as you pay your rent and dont have any issues most likely there wont be a problem. But if you happen to have any questions, concerns, complaints or problems at all during the lease. I can promise you if Ms Harperink is still at the helm, your issues or questions will not be solved or answered in a timely manner. You will may be not be yelled at as I was, but you may well condescended to, or have your questions met with snarky sarcastic remarks. Its not a surprise that the turnover at the office was so high, I was only a tenant for 12 months and I personally saw 3 people come and go for reasons i'll not pretend to know. All i can say for sure is I certainly wouldnt want to work for someone like ms Harperink. I may not be able to change the past but i know now to stay far away from RE/MAX and anything with the Harperink name on it.

My experience with the RE/MAX company has been the worse renting experience of my entire young life. It all started with an attitude of "we dont care" that seems to stem from the property manager Mara Harperink. My first problem came from shortly after I signed the lease. The move in sheet, said there were some screens, when I moved in there was not a single screen in any window. I did not want to be charged for screens when I moved out. Furthermore, because as far as I could tell I was supposed to have some screens, I wanted those screens installed. When I initially brought it up I was talked to as if I was stupid and the difference between the lease and the move in sheet was not explained to me at all. I was simply told that the piece of paper saying there were some screens meant there may or may not be some screens. This explanation didnt make sense to me. When I asked to talk to the property manager (Mara Harperink) about it those requests were denied.
Also within the first week my roommate would wake up with bites all over her body and she eventually found what we discovered to be a tick in her room. We made this discovery and called the office about it. However the office was closed for the weekend and there was no way to contact anyone until monday. Instead of getting bit every night my roommate and I elected to bring in an exterminator who treated the apartment for ticks and noted they had been in the carpet for awhile. I called the office on monday and told them about the issue. They told me that they would not do anything or reimburse me for the treatment. They said it was not an emergency and so they had no responsibility in the matter.
They seemed to drag their feet when it came to taking care of maintenance issues. They replied to emails with letters that took days for me to get.
This whole bad experience came to a head during my last month. I dropped off my final months rent in the dropbox which was my routine. Then I went to Columbus for a mandatory week training from my job. Unbeknownst to me, a mistake was made where they didnt get the check. They left eviction notices at my door which I didnt get because i was out of the city. When got back and found out. I called, I offered to pay what was owed and any late fees and was told it was too late. While i was in the process of moving my things out of the apartment on Wednesday night I noticed I had a large amount of electronics missing from my room. I filed a police report. The very next day the locks on my doors were changed. At my court hearing that friday, I told the magistrate that the locks were changed on the doors. The representative that was sent on behalf of the company was named Cory. Cory testified that the locks werent changed and that I was still in possession of the apartment. The magistrate went with Corys testimony over mine and granted the eviction. First thing monday morning i went to the office to try to figure out what happened. I was told that Cory no longer worked for the company. I asked if i could speak with Mara Harperink, I was told no and was told that if I had any issues with what happened, i needed to get a lawyer. I asked if i could at least get my things out of the apartment and was told no. I got a lawyer and he tried to get them to settle, the terms being that i would get my stuff out the apartment, let the deposit cover the last months rent and drop the eviction against me. They never responded or offered a counter to the settlement terms. At court she lied and said she offered to let me get my stuff out of the apartment. She also lied about the circumstances around changing the locks on the door. I would advise anyone and everyone to stay as far away from this company as possible. They do not believe in or care about customer service and I have seen first hand that they will lie to cover their mistakes. Until they get a change in leadership and Mara Harperink moves on to another job I do not see the company changing its ways.

I’ve closed dozens of homes BUT working with Misha Houston and Remax was the worst experience, not JUST in real estate, but the worst experience of my entire life. Too bad Google doesn’t have the option for zero stars.
I’ve never been dragged through the mud, belittled, talked down to, made to feel so small, or been such a nervous wreck over a real estate sale in my entire life, all because of 1 person in my opinon…. the way Misha handled this transaction. To give the readers who want reasons that I feel this way, other than the fact that she never responded timely to emails or phone calls, which was bad enough….. the one MAJOR instance that made me really upset and a nervous wreck is that the contract was allowed to expire (instead of her doing her job and sending over an extension prior to the expiration) and she screamed at both me and then my agent like it was our fault! Seriously??? She was the one that didn’t get us the extension and then screamed at me and my agent and said “ I’ll do one if I feel like doing an extension because it carves into my personal time, and I need to spend time with my family”. So we were out of contract, not knowing if our house was even going to come back into contract for over 5 FULL days just because didn’t want to send an email to us. In my opinion, she got off on some sort of power trip letting me hang not knowing if my $185,000 house needed to be re-listed, or if the buyers were still interested in it. Because at this point Misha still hadn’t even told us if the repairs that we had spent over $5000.00 doing were “approved” so we spent over $5000 and they just let me “hang”, not telling me if they were going to go through with the purchase of not. I wanted to vommit for 5 LONG days, no sleep, couldn’t eat, and she wouldn’t respond for 5 days. How is this professional?
Other problems that we had with her were that she made me do things in an a special addendum at the closing table otherwise she would not close, she made her buyers sit at the closing for over 4 hours!!!! And wouldn’t close the contract unless I signed another addendum and agreed to do EXTRA things that weren’t in the original contract!!! Talk about extortion! What choice did I have at that point? I had to sell this house so what could I do?? OMG, I would run if you still can!!
If I had the opportunity to do this transaction again, I would have RUN for the hills like I was covered in tar and set on fire and just take $20,000 less for the home just not to have dealt with the emotional distress of dealing with Misha Houston and ReMax.
I tried to call her broker, and her broker would not even call me back for the last 3 weeks. So much for customer service. More like a complete mind F*$@.
