I love the idea of a plant shop in my College Hill neighborhood, so I just had to check this one out. I love the location -- a refurbished gas station, where they can open up the garage door and basically become a patio in warm weather. And I disagree with a previous Yelp post -- this is not a bad neighborhood -- it's now full of trendy shops, new restaurants, a microbrewery, and a barbershop and hair salons. The ongoing renovation & renewal has kept the character of the neighborhood while bring in new trendy business. But back to this boutique plant shop: The interior was relaxed and comfortable, and the plants were arranged beautifully. The prices were fair market value, which made them affordable for me. The staff there was friendly and relaxed, and we had a good low-key conversation while I perused the plants. I ended up buying two healthy "starter plants." She gave good instructions, regarding the unique qualities of my purchase, including how to water them. I wish they had a larger variety of plants, but overall it was a pleasant store that I'll return back to often.

This place is a plant lovers plant dream ✨ I came in today and asked for some advice for 2 plants I have that are not doing great - the two women working were not only super knowledgeable and helpful (they told me my plant had spider mites ??) but they were also very friendly! They didn’t make me feel like a bad plant mom for being a chronic over-waterer and also not noticing my plant was literally infested with bugs . I walked out with 4 new beautiful healthy plants and a plan to hopefully save the sick ones ??. Definitely check this place out. Even if you’re not looking to buy new plants - this place is a vibe. ?

I wish I lived closer to this store! Walking in feels like a zen moment of happiness. I also wish I had a green thumb to go with all the green things available, I'll have to work on that... I was so excited to get the chance to visit Fern with the YES, I had no idea they've been open for 9 years! I would definitely recommend checking out this place for all of your indoor plants needs, the staff was super helpful and the variety of plants and goodies for sale was really great. I hope you get a chance to stop in!

Nice shop with beautiful plants. The service was horrible. I felt completely unwelcome. I was not greeted upon entry or at check out. I love my plants but I will never return.

Loved the place! My friend and I went in for 3 plants and came out with 6 ? The person who helped us was super knowledgable and helpful with choose our plants based on our needs (e.g. low maintenance, water schedule, etc.) and pots to go with them. She also gave us care cards at checkout with the species' name, lighting, water schedule, humidity, and water treatment (e.g. hard water). She also potted the plants for a good price. We're very pleased!

Very hipster, you’re paying for the experience I supposedly? High price for normal plants but decent quality. Far overpriced planters and supplies. Kind staff but not sure on their knowledge credibility.

This is by far my favorite plant shop I have ever been to- great plants that always look extremely healthy and cute decor and pots! I love all Ferns events too such as their holiday market and biannual sales!

Stopped by today with a friend to pick up a few plants and was greeted with a lovely store full of beautiful plants and home goods. The best part of the trip, however, was meeting Mekenna who was so generous with her time and answered questions about plant care, pests, propagating, and more. She goes to great lengths to ensure each and every plant and item in her store is of the highest quality. Such a lovely experience and can’t recommend this store enough!

Fern is such a wonderful place to visit as a houseplant lover! They have both common and harder to find house plants that are always beautifully cultivated— and high quality ceramic pots that are sometimes absolute works of art. The employees here are so fun to talk plants with and they are increeeedibly helpful. Whenever I’m stuck between two plants they help me choose the best one for what I’m looking for care-wise. To anyone interested, they also offer repotting services. Both my mom and I are obsessed with Fern!

I wish I asked the young lady that helped me today her name. She was so helpful and knowledgeable with the plants. I came in from out of state and was looking for things I could fit in my carry on luggage. Both ladies working were very kind. I can’t wait to come back into town! Beautiful plants and vases. I was born and raised in College Hill, but moved out of the city 5 years ago. Every time I come back to visit my family I come right up the street to Fern. The store is beautiful, the plants are healthy, and the staff are nice.Update: 4/9/2022. Just wanted to update my review. I STILL love this store. I was in town and stopped by today to check things out. I ended up buying 4 plants and the person at the register was so nice. Seriously my favorite plant store.
