In November of 2022, I dropped off a Cross pen at Appointments for a repair. I was told that they had to send it out to Cross for the fix and that Cross was still dealing with backups due to Covid. Once the pen was repaired and returned, they would call me to let me know I could pick it up.
Fast forward to October 2024 and I have yet to receive it. Worse still, no one has ever communicated with me about when the pen will be ready. I’ve called at least ten or fifteen times over the past two years and am always told the same thing: they’re very sorry, they’ll look into it, and they’ll call me back. Not once has anyone ever returned my calls. I called a couple weeks ago and said if they’re not going to bother repairing it to at least please return it to me. Again, I was told the same thing: we’ll look into it and get back you, but I’ve not heard anything. The pen was engraved and given to me as a gift, so it has a lot of sentimental value. I even reached out to Cross to see if they could send it directly back to me and they have no record of even receiving it. I’ve pretty much given up hope that I’ll ever get it back (let alone repaired), which is unfortunate because of the personal worth it has for me.
They look like they have some great products but I can’t bring myself to support a place that is so disrespectful and indifferent to this whole situation. It's really frustrating and disappointing.

I came in today and was greeted by Joe. There were a couple customers in there as I browsed and so I patiently waited my turn and struck up a conversation with the lady being helped. Joe was extremely kind and patient with me, letting me try all of the pens I was interested in. I ended up losing track of time but Joe never said anything and reassured me at the end when I saw the time and apologized to him. This was my first experience with a brick and mortar fountain pen store, and I was impressed. Joe is an absolute gem of a person and I can't wait to stop in again (hopefully for a Pelikan, Visconti, or Sailor)

Go there! I absolutely love this place! Joe and Doug took such great care of me. I inherited (and then have begun to collect) some vintage fountain pens, and had some of them refurbished here. They all are perfect now! Even better, when I brought my brother there to get a gift for his gf, he bought me a pen too! ?

Visiting from Australia, and spotted this shop in the arcade while walking off jetlag. An absolute joy, and a must for any lover of writing tools! Had a lovely time browsing and chatting, with helpful suggestions and absolutely no pressure. Ended up with a gorgeous leather-bound journal, and some lovely inks I would never have found at home. My only regret is not picking up a pen, but there’s always time to go back ?

Appointments has a fascinating selection of writing implements and inks. They also have a great selection of paper products, including notebooks from both Europe and Japan. Located on the second floor.

I loved my experience at this store!! (The location was somewhat challenging to find, but worth it.)
Joe was kind, knowledgeable, and very patient as I tried multiple fountain pens.
My wallet is glad to not live closer to Cincinnati!!

This is a Cincinnati treasure. My wife loves to note take, and journal. They have products of all price points, and super knowledgeable shop keeper. Made an amazing personal birthday present. We will be back.

Doug Kennedy has been the best customer service I’ve ever experienced! The store is personable and cares for their customers’ utmost satisfaction.I bought a Lamy 2000 Medium, but did not find it well suited for my writing. Doug was so kind as to test write and then even to replace my pen with another nib.They were understanding and very communicative.Will be purchasing all of my pens here from now on.

This is the only store I've found in the area with a wide variety of high quality pens and other writing materials. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly, giving recommendations that fit your budget. It's also fun to browse puzzles, stationery and Rookwood pottery collections. I highly recommend stopping in.

This is an Ohio treasure. Doug Kennedy and his colleague at the cash register spent quality time with us. We had found some heirloom pens and he took each one, examined and cleaned it, and provided us the history of each as far back as 1935. Including, e.g., the Parker T-1 Titanium-body-and-nib fountain pen, the one and only fountain pen in history to be recalled by the maker. We drove 45 miles to Appointments, and will gladly do so again. If you love pens, get there. The very best products and kindness anywhere.

I had a wonderful 1st experience at Appointments. Recently closing my last journal, it was time for a new one. As writing and reflecting has become a daily practice, I wanted to upgrade to a nicer set of journaling implements.By stroke of luck, I came across appointments where they had just what I was looking for! Not only did I find a beautiful Italian made journal, but I began my foray into the world of fountain pens.The gentleman working there was exceedingly helpful and knowledgeable.The store is beautifully arranged, and additional items include fine briefcases, desk adornments, and high quality stationary (notecards and such).I could not recommend appointments more for fine writing needs! I’m so glad to have visited and will return.
