I've been waiting for over 2 years for reimbursement on some hefty medical expenses. I have called dozens of times asking for updates on my reimbursements and every single time I'm told that they have "no idea when I'll be sent a check."I would not recommend getting involved with this company in any way if you value your time and money.

This is the worst healthshare company!! Having them was the biggest mistake of my life!! They still haven't paid my bills from 2021 when I had my daughter and now the providers are making me responsible!! They have so many rules of how to submit your payments and if you don't do it within their stupid guidelines then you don't get reimbursed! I'm still dealing with bills that are over 35k that they haven't paid. I'm stressed out every day because of this. I understand they are backlogged but 2.5 years later and the bills are still not paid?! What a joke!!

We had 5 great years with Liberty and then things went downhill fast. 3 years ago they would've gotten a 5 star rating. Now with the year we've had, they get two... and that's only because the staff is usually helpful, and most bills have gotten paid in a "relatively" on-time manner (one bill went 18 months and ended up in collections by accident). The value of Liberty seems to be changing, and is no longer different from any other health insurance company. When we joined, we could schedule an appointment with any legitimate provider we wanted, and it would be covered in full without a cap and without getting stuck with a balance. That was the big sell! The flexibility was amazing. But this past year they added a cap of $1000 a year for any doctor they deem: holistic, alternative, integrative, or functional medicine. And, they determined this how? I will quote: "we look at the doctor's website." One rep was googling our doctor with me to decide how it would be categorized. She categorized our PCP's office as "alternative" I was so nervous about racking up a bill Liberty wouldn't pay, I let things go, which resulted in an ER visit.Aside from regularly raising rates (it used to be $600/year, now it's $12,000/ year), they began squeezing members last year. Summer 2023, they gave last-minute notice that only expenses OVER $200 would be covered. So if a doctor charges exactly $200 for the service, Liberty won't pay out - nor will it go towards the deductible. It's fully the member's responsibility. Our doctor's office was charging exactly $200.00 for a service Liberty had "pre-approved" (what they call "pre-notification"). So we anticipated that these services would be covered. Too bad they came back and said - later - that despite the "approval" it didn't qualify due to the $200.00 rule. We were one penny short. Wish we would've known that sooner! Starting next month, they are going to squeeze members more. They will only pay out a "reasonable" rate based on medicare rates. You want to see a "great" doctor that charges a bit more? Expect to pay. What was once a healthcare choice with great service and easy expense submissions, Liberty has become just another insurance company - seeking to find any loop hole to deny an expense. This past year when I submit our expenses, I cross my fingers. It's been luck-of-the-draw whether expenses get approved or not. Had I received reasonable notice of the various changes as they were taking place, we would've said goodbye to Liberty during the open-enrollment period at my husband's work. But the last-minute change notices they keep handing out mean we're stuck with Liberty, and subjected to whatever rules they want to change whenever they change them. This year, 2024, we will anticipate $12,070 in fees for a family membership, and the first $2500 in expenses towards deductible are out of pocket too. At that point, Liberty will pay towards bills that exceed the $200 minimum only. AND... if the doctor charges more than the "reasonable" rate you get stuck with the difference (we likely won't know if they do or don't until the bill is finalized, unless you go with their preferred doctors). So to have Liberty pay out, the rate of the medical procedure or appointment has to be over $200, but not so high that it exceeds medicare rates. Otherwise we get stuck with the difference. This is just like regular insurance, but worse now.The point of joining Liberty Healthshare was supposed to be flexibility and support. Choose your provider, do health your way, and it'll get covered. That's how it was for 5 years! Not anymore. I no longer see value in Liberty. They are just another health insurance company. The two stars come from having nice, helpful staff. And the fact that up until now, most bills had been covered without a problem. (Though we did have one bill take 18 months to get paid!) Not sure Liberty deser

member for over three years and we left liberty in late 2023we have several bills from my wife having eye surgery back in late 2021 on both eyes, we ended up paying a lot of the bills as Liberty was really dragging their feet to pay even though it was all shareable and we met all our obligations to Liberty health share. today is 29 months later and we are still waiting on being reimbursed from Liberty. there excuse is they are cleaning up back log bills and ours is on the list. WOW I feel better already after 29 months. unless you want a lot of stress with these people stay clear. 100% my opinion as being a member for over three years. bottom line there is NO DEAL. I also have other billing issues with them this was just one. the two stars were for being nice on the phone not for anything else.

I paid into Liberty Healthshare for 4 years. Never needed to use it. Then my wife had a life threatening accident near our cabin in Utah. We had to get her off of the mountain to the nearest medical facility and then an ambulance took her to the nearest hospital 60 miles away. She was in the hospital for two weeks, and then a rehab facility for a week. This was over a year ago. Liberty has refused to pay anything! All of our bills have been turned in to collection agencies. We are contemplating bankruptcy thanks to Liberty Healthshare refusing to pay any of our bills.Do not trust Liberty Healthshare to cover any of your medical bills! Do not do business with these people. Liberty does not follow any of their guidelines and will refuse to share any of your bills. They are deceptive, dishonest, and do not follow any of their Christian guidelines. We have a bill of $240,000 with the hospital that Liberty refuses to pay. It has been 15 months and endless phone calls to Liberty - all excuses, no payments. Now the collections agencies are all over us. Our only recourse is lawyers, or selling our home to pay for our medical bills that Liberty refuses to pay.Additionally, Intermountain Healthcare (the largest health care provider in the intermountain west) has recently sent out letters to everyone that has tried to use Liberty Healthshare for services provided by Intermountain to inform everyone that Intermountain will no longer work with Liberty Healthshare. I'm sure that it is because Liberty has not paid for services provided and that they do not respond to Intermountain's claims, etc.I would give Liberty 0 stars or worse if I could.Update: After fighting Liberty for over 3 years, they refuse to pay any of the hospital and doctor bills we incurred. We have been sent to collections and are paying out of our own pocket a $200,000+ hospital bill. Do not do business with Liberty Healthshare! They have been sued by several states and have left me in very difficult financial straits.

I don’t know how these people sleep at night. Do not purchase coverage from this company unless you enjoy medical debt and having healthcare providers laugh in your face because you thought Liberty Healthshare was going to pay anything but pennies on the dollar, if you have the stamina to wade through what feels like intentional ineptitude designed to make you give up. Unbelievable that this company is still allowed to sell their garbage product.

Update: We got a check for our biggest bill from my husband's surgery. But still waiting for $6,000+ to finalize the bills. After we get those I will remove this review. This has been extremely frustrating but I will see they sent us our check after minimal calls from us (once every 6-8months) the last 3 years. So I do think they are trying to fix their problems.Update: over a year since my medical bills were submitted and no payment. Called several times throughout the year and still no promise of payment or when it will be. Read our story below.I start with liberty health share. Just after my second son was born. We had minimal needs wellness check ups, ear infections, small office visits. But last year, 2021, we finally made scheduled surgery for my husband that he has been needing for years. We got per approved that his surgery was indeed worth of getting paid by Liberty Health Share. We paid over 25,000 up front for the surgery center and the doctor performing the surgery. I submitted the bills and receipts the days of the surgery, with all the requirements Liberty Health Share requested. I have been on the phone with Liberty Health Share many time since December 2021(month of the surgery). With no share reimbursement date scheduled yet. The surgery was done 15 DAYS before 2022, so they will not give me a reimbursement date, but continue to tell me 2022 bills will be paid in 6months. I have been a customer from 2016-2021, 5 YEARS, 60+ payments of $500+ or more each month had minimal bills submitted for sharing during that time (less then 5,000 total) and NOW the one surgery. The ONE specialist we go see they are not paying us out reimbursement. And 5 YEARS of being a member means nothing because his surgery was 16 DAYS before 2022! Wow. Makes me feel like a valued customer. Thanks Liberty Health Share. My husband were coming to terms with the fact that they screwed us over BUT THEN I get a bill in the mail that we are getting financial charges added to our bill that Liberty Health Share should have paid for back in 2021, for a appointment we had with the specialist. I called monthly both the doctor's office and Liberty Health Share on this bill to make sure Liberty Health Share was getting billed, to see if they were communicating with the doctor's office. The billing office of the doctor's office told me in May, "We are having a hard time getting them to get back with us." BUT NOW that they final got back to them and said they are not paying, told the doctor's office it was NOT THEIR responsibility because we did not reach out share amount yet, (after we already payed over 25,000 up front) WE are getting stuck with service charges. I would give them zero stars if I could.

UPDATE 03-06-24:Still no refund. I reached out a couple weeks ago and got the typical response of ‘we cannot provide an estimate timeline on the refund’.My child is now 2.5 years old. We shared every month. Never missed a single share payment for the many years we had liberty. They raised the price multiple times and we shared in full every month. The one time we needed them they failed us. 2.5 years later they still are not able to make it right. Very sad and I hope no one else has to experience this in a medical moment when they are in need.UPDATE 06-02-23:I still have not been refunded the 'approved' amount. I have even emailed Liberty with no responses.UPDATE 03-29-23:Still have not gotten refunded. Liberty still owes me around $10,000 for my baby that is now 18 months old. I have contacted Liberty several times and each time they say they cannot provide any sort of timeline for a refund. Be cautious using them when you have no timeline for a refund. You may end up floating tens of thousands of dollars like we have for any unforeseen length of time. Keep in mind we never missed a monthly share or anything. When Liberty raised their prices repeatedly we always paid the new share price with no issues. All we ask is that Liberty Healthshare holds up their end of the deal and the time we needed the assistance they have been no where to be found.I will continue to provide updates to this review. WHEN they decide to finally hold up their end of the deal and cover our qualified expenses I will amend this review to show they finally did their part.UPDATE 07-27-22: I have gotten a few small checks from Liberty but they still have not refunded me the full amount. I will continue to update this review as needed. Once I am refunded the full amount I will edit this review to reflect the full refund has been made and Liberty Health Share has upheld their end of the agreement. Until then I will leave the review as 1 star since they have not yet held up their end of the agreement.ORIGINAL REVIEW: I had been with Liberty Health Share for several years without any problems. We do not use doctors often for things. Last year we had a baby and we paid cash for everything to get lower rates. It is now nearly a year later and we are still waiting to be reimbursed. I have called and all they say is we are working on it but have no timeline for getting you reimbursed. Liberty has continued to raise prices which seems to be annually at least and we have always stayed with them but when we needed assistance for the delivery of our baby they are not willing to do their part. Very poor service and not reliable.

Buyer beware. If you submit a bill they underhandedly reprice it and do not alert you of that. If you do not wish to have derogatory marks on your credit make sure you make a payment plan with the medical provider. Your Hospital/medical provider would never agree to their underhanded billing/ negotiating tactics for medical bills.

I've been a member of Liberty Health Share since 2019, and regrettably, my experience has been profoundly negative. Despite their advertising as a Christian organization, which implies a level of compassion and fairness, my encounters have been anything but. The core issue I've faced is the absolute lack of reimbursement for medical expenses, regardless of the situation. Every time I submitted a claim, it was met with a barrage of exclusions or exceptions, effectively making it impossible to receive any form of benefit. It's crucial for potential members to understand that Liberty Health Share is not an insurance plan; it's a "Members Network." This distinction might seem trivial on paper, but in practice, it means that the decision on who receives benefits is entirely at their discretion, leaving many, including myself, without support when it was most needed.Furthermore, the customer service has been appalling. Attempts to resolve issues or seek clarification on denied claims were met with indifference, further adding to the frustration and sense of betrayal. For an organization that markets itself on Christian values, the lack of empathy and assistance is especially stark. Not once did Liberty HealthShare make a positive difference in managing my medical bills. Instead, I was left feeling unsupported, misled, and financially strained without any of the promised benefits. I urge you to look elsewhere. I cancelled my policy today. No need for and disingenuous "Response from the Owner". It will be a waste of your time. I guarantee you're not going to do a single thing about the way you operate.

Still struggling to get last years bills paid. They will give no estimate of timing and all I get I need to pay them and they will reimburse me. All I need to know is whenNow over 2 years and still have no answer on when. Pretty sad for a christian organization.

I got myself into a situation where I had to have faith that LHS members would come through with about 80k for a shoulder replacement surgery that I received a couple of years ago. It was a bit awkward because they changed their policy after I had that debt and I was pretty scared that I might be left high and dry. It took longer than I was comfortable with (they changed their policy on that too, in favor of members) but at the end of the day y'all came through. I just contacted LHS yesterday and was informed that the doctors were paid in full. Once again. Jesus and his children came through. Thank you so much! It's such a huge relief to have that off my shoulders! Amen!

Legalized Ponzi Scheme! Expensive, they don't pay claims in a timely fashion, have steep GUIDELINES, no customer service, they expect you to submit in a short period of time, all while you never hear back from anyone, and get sent to collections and small claims court (for us, it was more than $22k). Thank you, "Christians"
