The shelter is lovely! All animals have information tags that help tell more about the personality and medical issues as well. If you're looking to become a foster parent or adopt in Wood County areas, definitely check the Humane Society out.

I wasnt allowed to see the cats to check if mine who had gotten out was there. Just had to trust the staff. I don't believe they would lie to me but as a grieving pet owner I feel mentally better seeing for myself. But others get to see the cats when they want to adopt.

Came for the first time on a Sunday. Their website says, they are open till 5pm. Yet, when I arrived the doors were locked with paper sign saying " closed, only via appointments today" How unprofessional and pathetic. It's 2023 and this establishment has a website with their current hours. Just to find out when you're there in person, you're "greeted" by a paper-sign at their front door, how they are not open. Mind you this is a wood county humane society. Never again. Just wasted gas money!

As soon as we walked in the door we were pretty much barked at and aggressively questioned as to why we showed up. Rude staff.

We came here to look at cats. Some staff were pleasant and professional, while some others not so much. One young lady was very rough to the animals, and came off very know-it-all and overall rude. We looked at a cat and were pressured into adopting her, the worker having lied about them not doing 24-hour holds so we could think on it more. Long story short, we wound up returning the cat, told we could do such right away no questions asked but that also seemed to be a lie. Immediately it was the 20 questions game, not accepting our answer and prying more and more, and we apparently were supposed to call and schedule an appointment to take her back? This wouldn't have been a problem if we were told. All in all a decent place, the animals seemed very happy (outside of obvious stress from being locked in kennels) but some staff members seem to be better than others.

They are modest and kind. In need of donations pet food, toys, etc. Yet, they don't ask. I just found out. Wish so much the building could be upgraded, as some others have been.

I went to look at the available cats. The place was very clean! The staff could not have been nicer! I did find a cat that wanted to adopt me. He had some medicine that needed to go with him and they were very clear on the direction. I was more than impressed with the facility. Much nicer than others I had been to to look at adoptable cats. I highly recommend wood county humane society!

Adopted a kitten recently and the interaction went well with the individual we worked with. While completing the process she explained that we could call if we had any questions or concerns and they would assist with anything they could. A week after having our kitten there was a concern about an issue they claimed to have treated, only to be rudely told it is our pet now, making it our problem. I would avoid going here unless you prefer rude transactions and adoptions that end up with vet visits within the first week.

Nice experience. We weren't able to take the dog available.
