Edited to respond:
I am the dog’s caretaker during a small hour time frame. I could not come at the appointment time assigned because I had other commitments to other animals. This is why I came earlier in the day and was hoping for help and was met with an attitude. I understand I arrived at an inconvenient time but this attitude was not an appropriate response toward the situation.
This is lengthy but needs to be said: this place was a horrible disappointment in a time of emergency and we were met with uncaring attitudes from the moment we walked in. First, I am an animal caretaker, have worked in a nonprofit shelter and a rehabilitation zoo in Thailand for years. I am familiar with animals, especially cats and dogs, their needs, and when they are in need of medical care. I was caring for a neighbor’s dog when she started having bladder and bowel issues, to the point where she could no longer urinate or have a bowel movement. Bethel Community Pet Hospital is the primary care, the owner of the dog called them to let them know the issue and that we need an emergency appointment. The hospital told her to try a bland diet for the dog, maybe add pumpkin, and check back in a few days. This dog did not have a few days to play around with food. I told the owner to get us an emergency appointment, which the hospital said they could do but 6 hours later. Fed up, I drove the dog to the hospital and tried to explain the urgency of the situation. The front desk worker, Nina, addressed me with quite an attitude and told me that they are busy and I should wait until the appointment later that day. I told her that I have engagements later in the evening and would not be able to bring the dog in. She told me that’s too bad, and that is the only time that they have or that they can send us somewhere else. There was one other person in the waiting room and I asked for her to go check with the vet and see if she can make time because there are not many people there. Begrudgingly, Nina went back to ask the vet. When she returned, she gave me a soup ladle and a urine sample cup, and told me to go out front and get urine from the dog. I was shocked that I was being asked to do some thing that a veterinary technician should be able to do in their own clinic, but luckily, I am capable of expressing bladders and collecting samples. Unfortunately, the dog was unable to produce any urine, and when I brought the dog back inside, I told Nina the issue and she said something along the lines of “I guess it can’t be done then” and shrugged and went in the back. Fortunately, the vet was able to make space for us only a few minutes later, and a veterinary technician came out to get us. The vet tech also asked me to go out and collect a urine sample by myself, which I told her that I’m confused as to why none of the staff is able to do that, and she replied that “we can’t make the dog pee, but we could stick a needle into her bladder and pull it out that way if she is able to lay completely still.” At this point, I am completely fed up with the staff members and called the owner on the phone. Finally, the vet came in and was able to talk to the owner on the phone with me and we were all able to come to some sort of conclusion. This was honestly an awful experience, and I’m used to working in the animal world where situations aren’t the best, but this was certainly the worst. I cannot believe the incompetency of some of these workers and the attitude that I received during this situation with a dog that is not even my own pet. I was hoping for a little more sympathy and a sense of urgency to help this dog as the owner would be out of town for another several days. The only person who was kind and personable to me and my situation was the other front desk worker Sherry. She was very sweet, calm, and talked to me about the medicine. I’m thankful she was the last person I spoke with, it made the ride home more bearable. Now, the owner is completely aware of what happened, and I believe they will be looking for another veterinary c

I have came just to write that I’ve been using this vet since 2020/2021 and everytime I go here everyone is so nice. I had to tragically put my cat down in March and they showed a lot of compassion. I thank them for that. The only thing I wish is that they had an ink pad to take paw prints as I am now without those last memories. But this vet is very caring! And the prices are also very reasonable.

I have been coming to Bethel Community for approximately 15 years. Dr Donahue and staff are the absolute best! Everyone is so welcoming and compassionate. I moved to Florida two years ago and I coordinate my visits to Ohio with when my dog is due for exams or shots because when I say Bethel Community is the best, I truly mean it ❤️. Another important thing to note is that they are also affordable and never do any unnecessary treatment or try to push you to buy anything. They simply make recommendations and don't make you feel guilty if you decline. Highly highly recommend this practice, doctors and staff!

From making the appointment to checking out we got the best of compassionate and knowledgable care. I now have peace of mind knowing that my critters will be cared for expertly and kindly. I will be bringing the rest of my pets to them with confidence that they will be handled kindly and treated expertly!
