As a person with disabilities, I was elated to receive a phone call and asked to join Dave's grocery store family at one of their affiliate stores.I did the best job I could inspit of being out of work for nearly 5 years.Having C.O.P.D and Congestive Heart Failure kinda slows you down, but I still showed up daily as scheduled and performed my job admirably from what all the people involved said..( managers, supervisiors etc )So it came as a huge surprise to me that on March 30th, Saturday the day before Easter Sunday, I received a phone call from work ( and I initially thought one of the kids called off again which happens quite often and needed me to cover shift ) and the person on the other end of the phone said ....." you're still under your probationary period right... to which I said yes and the voice went onto say, well, we are moving on from you. Have a nice Easter though"No explanation, no warning, no chance to even plead a case, just get out...Now, I have severe C.O.P.D. ( Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease ) as well as Congestive Heart Failure. I haven't been able to work in a while due to these conditions, but I was starting to manage. It was difficult to stand at times, but I did it and was getting better at my job every time I showed up.I was punctual, I was pleasant, I did not get involved in discussions, or the drama affiliated with retail. I did my job without my oxygen tank, which I was told I could not use but tried my best.I'm sure this review will never be seen by the people at human resources, and my situation will be glossed over just like any other adult with disabilities trying to make ends meet.If you did read my story, thank you, and just maybe the same thing won't happen to someone else..I loved my job at Lucky's in Concord Ohio, but guess I wasn't so Lucky... ? ?

Because of several past negative experiences with this company- I am giving this review. This review is directed towards the people who were the problems at my work- not the great upstanding people of whom I had a great relationship with. I really don't want to go into a long explanation- but to simplify it- this company took away a lot of chances I would have had to further my interests and pursue things I wanted to do in my life. Instead I became what is called a "company man" and supervisor with no power and making far less than my counterparts who were being paid $15 an hour. I wasn't receiving any health care coverage or benefits I needed at the time I was working for this company, that would have helped with my health care costs. Also- I was outright harassed by clientele who harassed my and my staff and coworkers and supervisors who had my back at one point but outright betrayed my trust and back stabbed me for situations that I didn't start and that I had no involvement in.For what it is worth- I would recommend that folks shop at a grocer that earns their business and doesn't do what I have mentioned here to its staff or its customers.

Not sure why a corporate headquarters isn’t answering the phone during posted business hours but it speaks volumes as to why your stores are run the way they are.

Daves Supermarkets' Deli Dept gives me a rly hard time about shredding or shaving my Isalys Chopped Ham. They become visibly upset when asked to shave cold cuts with the exception of the Lakeshore Blvd. Location in Cleveland. I thought it is about the customer. Instead Daves deli depts. act like I should pay them to cut my cold cuts in a way that is best suited for them. I am so puzzled when it comes to this.
