Tia is amazing!! She is great at what she does! Tia is also friendly and good with all ages! She makes me feel pretty and takes the time to learn the best way to style and cut my difficult hair. Thanks to Tia!

Everyone was incredibly nice, especially Lucy who helped color match my foundation! The store was clean and organized, and I'm super happy with the products I went home with.

I scheduled a haircut this past weekend. I brought a photo to share which was of a medium length cut with long layered and face framing, the stylist asked if I wanted my hair shoulder length. I explained when dry I wanted my hair past my shoulders. I have fine hair. I was sold on getting a hair treatment which was fine but ended up being a waste of time. My hair was cut above my shoulders about 1 1/2 inch to 2 inches shorter than what I requested. My hair was dried but was done terribly which didn’t really allow me to even see the outcome well. My hair was wavy in spots and straight in others, frankly the worst blow dry I’ve ever seen. The hairstylist kept thinning my hair out I presume to give more body but the way it was done left the top layer heavy and does not blend well into the rest of the cut. You can barely see the face framing. I ended up paying additional money to have my hair curled mostly because my hair looked awful. I’ve decided to wait to even review until I could style it myself. No matter what I did it looks bad. I don’t mind paying for a good outcome. I did tip because I don’t believe in not tipping. I left without saying anything because it’s incredibly uncomfortable to tell someone they did a bad job. I highly recommend stylists ensure they are giving clients what they want. I believe she started too short in the back and then kept trying to even it out so I ended up with a much shorter cut. Better to start longer and go shorter if necessary.

On Monday , 4/29/24 I set up what would be considered a last minute hair appointment. I wasn’t too sure how well this would go ( I don’t get my hair done ever and the few times I have , have been not so great at other places) I tried giving myself highlights and of course did a terrible job. My appointment was with Leila and it was one of the best hair experiences I have ever had. She was personable, sweet, and did an amazing job on my hair/ fixed my DIY terrible highlights. For the experience and pricing for partial highlights / the toning she did- I was beyond grateful! If you need anything done, please don’t underestimate Ulta but also look into the stylist Leila! 12/10 recommend that hair angel!

I’m actually an Ulta Platinum member so I know my Ultas. This one is pretty similar to most, with relatively clean shelves and attractive displays. (I say relatively because the samples and testers are almost always empty and a complete mess. This is pretty consistent with the retail beauty industry.)
But the employee education is completely lacking here. I feel like almost every time I’ve gone into this store, I’m transported back into some kind of weird Mean Girls high school universe, with teenage girls behind the counter always talking badly about the customers and the management here. Yes, we can tell you hate your jobs. You talk loudly enough within earshot for everyone in the store to hear you. We get it.
One night I heard these girls talk very badly about the customers that were currently in the store, mocking them and asking them why they’d come in when they can just “shop online instead.” I can’t think of any conversation made by a retail employee that didn’t reek of more ignorance—as the presence of the customers they were mocking are what funds their paycheck and keeps retail work thriving.
Another time I came in I asked to be swatched with a concealer that was 2-3 shades too warm and light for my Asian neutral medium complexion. I noted several times that the swatch was just too light and didn’t blend into my skin tone, literally showing her so she can pick something else, and she insisted that it did and just kept arguing with me over it. So bizarre. She talked about the influencers that used this product, which I honestly don’t care about because I’m not trying to be an influencer and influencers hock all sorts of products for a living. It didn’t leave me with a lot of confidence that these employees receive any kind of formal training, particularly outside of their own social, age, and ethnic groups.
After enough trips to this location, and comparing them to other Ultas, I believe the store is consistent but the employee themselves are below average quality. I feel some of the younger employees might benefit from basic foundational education on swatching for multiple skin tones, learning basic hair types and textures, and learning how to work with mature skin.
Almost all of them would also benefit from simple essential customer service skills such as respect and empathy and not talking badly about customers within earshot of them in a really loud and awkward way. As a customer it’s a bizarre feeling to be insulted by someone who you’re literally handing money to.

I wish I caught the name of the girl who helped me today, she was very kind and thorough. Helped me pick out a skin care routine and with no judgment! Truly appreciate her and what she does. Thank you!

Worst customer service I have ever experienced. I won’t set foot in this store ever again! I had to beg for help and the person I spoke to wouldn’t even put her phone down or stop leaning on the display to help me!

If you get the right person, I like that they help you with finding good quality makeup. It would be nice if they offered makeup applying tips related to age. They have young girls there, but they don't understand age related issues over 55.

Hey, ULTA! How about not posting special holiday hours and closing at regular times? There’s a sign on your door, it’s on the web and I called to confirm, in which the automated system also stated 10, as two women watched us at the front door and said “they closed due to staffing issues.” So you need multiple workers to babysit the register? Annoyed to have made that drive only to be ignored like an idiot as I’m STARING at a sign that says “Open until 10” while on a call that’s also telling me “Open until 10.”

The store layout is transparently developed for peak consumer captivity. The ever present but never intrusive salespersons are mildly helpful, however, the entire exercise of futility is laid bare during checkout. The intentional glacial pace is most likely implemented to increase customer exposure to brands increasing impulse purchases. Blatantly transparent yet effective. An utterly unnecessary shopping experience.
