Between this one and Great Northern I can always find things that I need. And you can find really really good deals in this store for way cheaper than the bug box stores. I visit quite often sometimes just for retail therapy.

This is an experience I’d like to share with other individuals who are thinking about applying to homegoods store in Avon, please don’t waste your time. I love the TJMax Companies. I shop at their stores frequently til recently. I had been trying to get into marshalls but unfortunately they aren’t hiring til spring. When I heard that my local homegoods was hiring I was extremely excited and one of the assistant managers Amanda, reached out to me for an interview. I arrived early (around 15 minutes, which is great potential hiring etiquette) for the interview the next day and I was made to wait a while before Amanda came to great me. She was nice as she conducted her interview with me. I also met Vicki, another manager. Both of the woman were friendly upon meeting. After a few questions and Amanda asking me about my availability she said I was “exactly what she was looking for and offered me the job. I was excited until I heard the pay rate started at $12 an hour. As busy as these stores are i was shocked to hear such a low pay rate. Amanda told me to please be patient as my background could take up to five days to come back. I waited a week and there was no communication! I actually went into the store on my own time to try to speak with Amanda. Every time I asked for her she was never around. On my first attempt to see Amanda after she “hired” me I spoke with a male manager who didn’t introduce himself or even act like a manager. He just acted like he was trying to get through his shift. I went in a second time the next day and Vicki spoke with me. She didn’t even remember meeting me when I came in for my interview with Amanda. She mistook me by another name and put me on the spot in front of the store saying “oh you can’t work mornings and days”. I corrected her politely as she clearly had me confused with someone else. I had already cleared my availability with Amanda and she told me they could work with me. Then she looked at me and asked why I couldn’t work mornings. Again this was all cleared with the other manager. Vicki took my information and she said Amanda would be in contact with me the next day, I was not surprised when Amanda never called me. Clearly there is no communication at all between any of the managers. Management is extremely poor and no one ever contacted me regarding a start date, I didn’t even receive a form to complete a background. I hope this will give insight to people who think this would be a great place to work.
