Just writing to express my disappointment and concern regarding my recent experience with the membership application process at the local VFW post 2629. I submitted my application for membership and have yet to receive any communication or acknowledgment from post leadership. I’m not sure how the application process usually goes but I was only allowed to deal with the bartender, she wasn’t too enthusiastic when she took my application and didn’t care to explain the process.I am genuinely surprised by this lack of response, especially considering that I the VFW is actively seeking new members due to membership declines. It's disheartening to assume that my application might be overlooked due to my age, which leads me to believe that perhaps there is an unintentional bias against younger Soldiers like myself (Just an observation as I looked around the room at everyone staring but not speaking).As someone new to the area and who was genuinely excited about the camaraderie and support that the VFW would provide, I was eager to become an active part of community. However, the lack of communication has left me questioning whether my dedication and service are being considered. I understand that processes can sometimes face delays, but the absence of any update or feedback is disconcerting.I sincerely hope that this is not indicative of the general attitude towards accepting younger Soldiers into the VFW. I believe that a diverse membership can only enrich our shared experiences and strengthen the bonds that make the VFW such an important organization.I kindly request that post leadership look into this matter and provide me with an update on the status of my application. I am eager to contribute to the VFW's mission and engage with fellow veterans who have served their country.Side Note:Still can’t believe the bartender took my application. When I returned the application I had to wait on several members who hopped in front of me with drink orders…sad

Great place to hang out and socialize. They have a pool table, slot machines, bowling alley, and juke box. Come as a guest with a member, otherwise you need your own membership. Watch out for the one they call Lisa. She thinks that she is important, or has a high status. She is simply just another member that will tattle tail like a 4th grade school girl that has no friends. No one likes rats, but there’s nothing you can do!Bottom line, great place, just be careful what you say and do around the rat.

The Aurora VFW provided food and beverages and their facility free for luncheon after funeral services. It was a very nice and touching thing to do.

I have been in many VFW Post around the country as well as overseas they were extremely welcoming and the post is clean and fun!! The bartender was very courteous and kind and offered a membership immediately after checking my credentials and valid identification. Ask for Kim when you come in and she will definitely make sure that your needs are met. Local ? city expert.
