Disappointed with the massage I received. It was not relaxing at all, very fast paced. She also put lotion on my face without asking. As a massage therapist myself I was surprised. Overpriced as well.

Let me start my review by saying this hotel is beautiful and historic so if you are looking for a simple chain hotel then don’t stay here. I booked a night for my husbands birthday, our room was simple and beautiful with a whirlpool bathtub. The front desk was very helpful and attentive, they will get you anything you need. The dining experience was perfect with all the dim lights and romantic ambiance. We ordered the chicken Parmesan and cabin chicken pasta, this food was excellent. The bartender and the waitresses were on point and super welcoming. We were served coffee and muffins the next morning on the back patio which was gorgeous. This place has so much character, not your same typical hotel so if you are looking for an awesome experience stay here. My husband also received a massage and he said everyone was super helpful, friendly and clean. We will definitely be back, thank you for a wonderful experience.

I booked my wife and her friend from out of town to get a spa day. It was very outdated inside. The robes were uncomfortable and had holes in them. The towels were very small and had holes in them as well. The sandals that were given to them were old and looked dirty. They enjoyed the grotto. One had a great massage and the other had a horrible experience. The horrible massage was not relaxing at all and said she wanted to tell them to stop and she was going to get up and leave. They also got a pedicure and the chairs were dirty and the water was barely lukewarm. Also they could not sit next to each other due to being that the two chairs that were next to each other were the old and broken ones according to them. One asked for a French tip and got a jagged small portion of her toe painted. It looked absolutely awful. I can’t believe someone would let them leave with their toes looking like that. The kitchen staff were talking so loudly about inappropriate conversation. The services were very expensive and absolutely in no way worth the money. I would never recommend this place to anyone.
Food & drinks: The lunch that they had was awesome. The mimosa that they got when they walked in was all orange juice and no champagne.
Noteworthy details: Don’t go here. Pick a different spa.

We really enjoyed the experience for the most part. The massage was great and the room was very pretty. There were a couple of things I wish would have been better. The first being the mattress and pillows. They were terribly uncomfortable. My husband and I both woke up with back and neck pain. It definitely is outdated and needs an upgrade. The other issue was at check out. We were gifted the believe package, so we expected to only pay out of pocket for anything over the budget given to us, however, we were charged a room tax which was completely unexpected. I even checked the package details to see if I missed it saying we would be charged the tax and it is nowhere to be found. I think that needs to be told prior to the trip somewhere. It’s not fair to have something gifted and find out when leaving that you charge additional for the gift.
Rooms: The room was very beautiful. If they upgraded the bed and pillows it would have been perfect.

I purchased the overnight spa retreat package earlier this year and stayed an extra night in the hotel for a little extra TLC. The spa and hotel were all still decorated from the holidays, so it was a beautiful and cozy atmosphere. The therapeutic massage by Mark was just that -- very therapeutic, and I felt very relaxed and knot-free when it was done. The facial was relaxing and refreshing. Definitely don't skip the grotto! It was nice to soak a little before my treatments. I also had a mani/pedi, which turned out beautifully and was long lasting. Included in the package is a "champagne lunch," which has a few different options and comes with a glass of wine (or your drink of choosing). The kitchen put together a delicious vegetable alfredo for me to accommodate my vegetarian diet. I also had the butternut squash for dinner from the restaurant, which was tasty and filling. Most of the staff at the hotel was friendly and helpful, and the spa staff all took care of me through each step of the trip. The room at the hotel had a relaxing atmosphere with a fireplace, and the jacuzzi bath is perfect for winding down your day of winding down. I'd recommend this package to friends, but just make sure you take all of your belongings from your room or you likely won't see any items left behind again (RIP my swimsuit, they never did "find it")

I'm so sad that this place has gotten so progressively bad. The massage I received was the worst I had ever gotten. Months earlier I was using up an old gift certificate and had a special type of pedicure that was so sub-par and disappointing. Though I feel bad for the workers, they, too, are way below even minimal professional standards. The services are way over priced and way below acceptable. The surroundings were falling apart and were dirty. I guarantee Mario's will soon be out of business, thanks to the poor management. So sad!

Pretty damn good experience I must say. As the other reviews have stated, this place is carried handily by its staff. That is where this place starts and ends for sure. Check in and communication was smooth and easy. They even walk you to your room and will help with bags if necessary. The front desk staff was extremely nice, kind and attentive our entire stay. I didn't catch their names but every single person was great.
The room is very nice, not what I expected but extremely nice. The bed is decently comfortable. Both sofas are very comfortable. The bathroom was very nice, and clean. The jetted tub and shower combo was actually very nice. Plenty of water pressure and a very deep tub to soak in. Overall the room is a little dated but I think it adds a little bit to the charm of the place but not dated in a way where it would hinder your stay.
Spa services are top notch. They have many different options and additions you can add to your stay. Pedicures, manicures, saunas, etc. We did not do any of that so I can't speak to any of those activities, but the Whirlpool room is amazing. It is a grotto type room, very hot water that opens you right up. It is very relaxing. Don't forget to rest for a moment after you leave so you don't get light-headed and pass out. The massage services were amazing for me. I believe I had Marc?!? Super kind and friendly. Very good at his job. My partner did not have the best time with her massage therapist.. I definitely didn't catch a name but it was non-stop talking so I'm told and discussions on topics that do the opposite of helping a customer relax. But mine was awesome.
Last but certainly not least. Probably the top thing about this place has to be the restaurant/ bar food service... 11 stars out of 10 if I could. I am by no means a professional chef , but I cook what I like very well. This was arguably the best food at a restaurant or any place outside of my house I have ever had. Whenever I go to an expensive steakhouse or to a seafood place I have to ask for sauce or seasoning or something. Not with this meal... I asked for sauce out of habit that I did not even end up touching. The martini menu is extensive very well made. Major hats off to the bartender and kitchen staff on 3/23/24.
Definitely a must try for the experience if you are coming to the area. If you live in the area I would at least check out the restaurants or bar or go and enjoy a spa day. This is a long review, but not a paid review. If Mario's Int. wanted to have me back I would come in a heartbeat!
Rooms: The rooms are a bit dated but still very nice. The two sofas are nice. The bed is decently comfortable. The toilet is fine. Super low lol but it is fine. The jetted bathtub/ shower is pretty all right in itself. If there is someone staying in the room above you. The floors creek pretty bad so that kind of sucks but other than that the rooms are solid.
Safety: Very safe area
Walkability: Right across the street is a plaza with dollar stores, restaurants, coffee shop not too far if needed.
Food & drinks: Absolutely amazing! The best part about this place has to be the food and drinks!
Noteworthy details: In order of most impressive to least.

We’ve stayed at the hotel in the past but not this most recent visit. My wife and I have been coming to Mario’s for more than 15 years and have always had a fantastic time. The spa services were excellent and the employees were very friendly. We greatly enjoyed our lunch in our robes after our services were completed as well. This is a wonderful local business that we have enjoyed visiting over and over again!

I was amazed honestly. This is a gem in aurora, Solon, Garfield area. I got the jacuzzi suite. The room was awesome, and they have a restaurant on site. The service was exceptional. I'll definitely recommend this location, and revisit.
Safety: Such a secluded area. Definitely a honeycomb hide out ?

Absolutely increadable historic charm. The smell of real wood burning fireplaces and great amount of character in the de or. I ordered a delmonico steak, it was fantastic!

This place gets worse and worse everytime I go. Outdated, not clean, horrible services and way overpriced. I will absolutely will never go back again. My massage was so bad that I asked the gentlemen massaging me how much time was left till we were done... My manicure was more of a finger painting session and we waiting over 45 minutes to get our drinks... yes, drinks! and then over 65 minutes for our food. Save your time and money.
