Extremely questionable ethics from the rescue - reselling dogs. I also agree with other negative reviews questioning their adoption process.

What a wonderful and caring group! They worked with us to find our perfect pack member to add to the family. All while respecting and understanding that we knew our dogs and what to expect with the transitions. Rescues are a wonderful way to find your next furry family member, yes they will do vet checks, reference checks and such, but all for good reason- they are privately funded and not for profit. Everything they raise is for the dogs! They are simply trying to give these dogs a chance at their best lives moving forward. Occasionally that may mean a no on an application but it is not the goal of anyone there I'm sure. Here is our handsome "noberman" (not a Doberman) from the Doberman Underground Rescue

I had a wonderful experience with this group when I adopted a 4 year old Doberman. This group is communicative, they do all they can to get the dog healthy, and (most importantly) they thoroughly evaluate every adoptive home. This group has a high success rate, because they're experts and choose the right home for the right dog. This may not sit well with some who expect to hand-pick the dog they want. Sometimes it does work out that, but other times they know what kind of environment will set the dog up for success. They're very flexible as far as paying for medical needs, travelling to get the dog where it needs to go, and supporting you throughout the process. And, in the end, you'll have a wonderful fur-baby and a community of like-minded folks to give you advice throughout the life of your pet.

Doberman Underground Rescue (DU) is incredible. I pull dogs from Georgia shelters and send them to various partner organizations including DU. DU says yes when others cannot. They have an exceptional volunteer network. They prioritize fundraising so they can say yes to dogs in critical condition. They show up for their foster parents -- ensuring each dog gets what they need from the right food to toys to training. I am forever grateful for the folks who run this rescue as they have allowed me to save many wonderful dogs including dogs with cancer, parvo, respiratory infections, and more. These are some of the lives DU has saved from Georgia.

This is an absolutely amazing organization. I’ve adopted two dogs from them who are wonderful. While the adoption process is thorough, it definitely serves its purpose, and I feel based on my personal experience with them that they will only give you an animal if they trust you and truly believe that you can provide the best home for them, and nothing short of that.

We have adopted three amazing dogs from them over the years. We have had such great interactions with the organization that now we have even become volunteers!

Great rescue!!! Not only do they rescue Dobermans, they rescue all breeds. Even the ones with expensive medical needs.

Great organization with wonderful volunteers. I highly recommend that if you know you are wanting to be a forever home to a doberman, complete the adoption application first. Many of the available dogs, never get added to the website because they are matched prior from the applicant pool. You can also apply to foster the amazing dobermans that are coming in and awaiting their forever homes. And yes they have rules and requirements for adoption. Most rescues do. This is mainly a breed specific rescue, based on years of experience and knowledge of dobermans. So trust that they know what they are doing and for specific reasons. Our experience with adoption was outstanding. From application to our adopted doberman permanently entering our home, it was a matter of a few weeks. The process involved application, interviews, vet/record checks, home visit, working with your own personal "doberman matchmaker," and then she joined our home. The process does not end there though, which is what really shows how they care about ongoing success. Ongoing obedience training is a requirement. You'll get follow-up check-ins and the ability to always reach out with questions. They are not just a rescue, they are a network of genuine volunteers who truly care about the breed and every dog that comes through the organization. You'll become part of a family. Appreciate all you have done for our family and for every doberman you have saved past, present, and future.

Careful, kind and always put the dogs first. We love our dobie, Bodie, and are forever grateful to the care he got before he became a part of our family.

I do not recommend this rescue based on their adoption process. It seems the rescue will make contact with all references and schedule an interview with the applicant only to quote their policy of not adopting to applicants without prior breed experience. If the policy is to deny applicants without prior experience, don’t waste everyone’s time. Either don’t bother to pursue or send a templated email stating the applicant was denied due to the policy. For the record, the policy also doesn’t seem to be steadfast but rather more so a suggestion. There are even reviews on this rescues own facebook page stating the applicant had no prior experience and was approved to adopt.I have adopted several dogs from various rescues and have never seen it done this way. Our application has always been reviewed first and if it passes the policies and preliminary checks then references and vets are contacted, phone interviews scheduled, home visits, and meet and greets with the dog.In addition, it was communicated that Dobermans are not good for first time dog owners. While I am sure the rescue has seen a great deal of Dobermans abandoned or neglected because the family was ill prepared, that speaks more to the caliber of the owner than the breed. Expressing to applicants that Dobermans are not a good first dog breed reinforces the Doberman stereotype that they are some how aggressive or hard to deal with dogs when the reality is that it isn’t the breed but individuals that are not prepared with the commitment and work that comes with any dog breed.Disappointed at how this organization handled a pointless applicant interview since they intended to deny and wasted references time. Do better.

I have gotten my last 3 Dobes from your rescue. I have had Dobes for over 23 yrs. I have dealt with several rescue organizations. DU is by far the best and most caring rescue I have adopted from. From the medical care you give to the generous package that goes home with each adopted Dobe. Thank you for all the wonderful work you do.

My wife and I adopted the coolest rescue puppy a couple weeks ago from Doberman Underground. They are very detailed during the adoption process because they want the dogs to find their forever homes. After the application, they will call your references and do a home visit. We met our puppy "Rudy" and knew this was ongoing to be our new buddy. He's a Beagle mix and has the best temperament. This organization gets all the puppies current on shots, takes them into a foster home, feeds them, helps house and crate train them. It is well worth the price you pay for a dog from these people. I would highly recommend giving them a shot!!!
