I was a guest at Stevie and Kyle’s wedding. Upon entering the facility, I was impressed with wha I saw. The ceremony room was nice but I noticed the arch Stevie worked so hard on was not set up. I figured she changed her mind. The ceremony ended and we moved into the other room for cocktail hour. There was a lot of time just sitting and waiting after the first dances were done. I could see Stevie being asked questions by staff and she looked displeased. They were served their food and then we were served ours late. The appetizers were good but Stevie had ranted and raved about the food she taste tested so I saved room…. Man do I wish I wouldn’t have done that. The chicken “breading” was super soggy… the sauce or whatever it was had a disgusting flavor, the chicken was rubbery and dry. I didn’t even take the roast beef because it looked like rubber in sauce. The veggies smelled horrendous. The Mac and cheese tasted like dry noodles… zero flavor and no hint of cheese at all. I barely touched any of it. The rest of our table, as well as the other guests we knew all said the food was not good. When I asked Stevie if this was the food she taste tested, she said no… we will talk about it later. I could tell she was upset and annoyed which is the last thing she should be on HER special day! The DJ had to keep checking in with her to perfect her timing and what she wanted because they had screwed the timing up. They had a cool walkout planned with giant sprinklers that everyone was excited about. That didn’t happen because they were both just so done with the evening. Afterwards, I went to check in with Stevie in her bridal “suite”. The floor was a mess, and things were everywhere. I asked her where her arch was… she said she had to set up the venue and do extra things so she didn’t have time to set it up. My heart broke for her because she had worked SO hard for this wedding. The way things were handled afterwards were less than professional. Sending passive aggressive texts after someone posts a review that reflects their opinion is insane. I will not be recommending this place to anyone.

Had my wedding there with my wife a couple weeks ago and needless to say things did not go according to plan as her review states below. After leaving said review she's being hit with passive aggressive texts from a venue manager, we could happily share and apparently they have the audacity to lie in their response and say we ever said everything was wonderful and we'd refer anyone there.... We'll be doing anything but that. They don't seem to know how to communicate correct information very well.

My husband and I had our wedding here at the beginning of October. We found this venue through my cousin who had worked there at the time helping coordinate and book weddings.From what was told to be a bonus for her she asked if it could be applied to my wedding contract to take some off the price because she helped me plan my wedding. Unfortunately before my wedding took place at LaPlace Events a falling out occurred between her and the venue and she no longer worked there. I had a feeling then that I should try to get out of my contract but my cousin assured me even though she no longer worked there the owner would be absolutely still professional...well that remains to be seen. The contract stated you either had to pay the entire sum of what you would have owed for the wedding or find someone to take your day with their own wedding. We decided to stick it out and go with the plan.Upon having my "meeting" to go over wedding set up with Natalie that was clearly very rushed didn't even want to sit down for, I thought we went over everything thoroughly enough that it would be set proper for the day of my wedding. We had added in a photobooth for our wedding through them and had beef tenderloin added to our meal which was an additional 400 tacked on. An event timing schedule was made BY THEM in the contract which I made sure I stuck to for my wedding day and planned events. Since I wasn't allowed to do any decor set up the night before because they had a wedding that evening I had to do wedding set up day of (and the owner who had told me she would be at my rehearsal with a key for me to get in was no where to be found I had to go hunt down a manager myself to get a lockbox code instead to get in for the day of my wedding, she had already up and left without so much as a greeting). Upon making it to the wedding day I walk in to find the tables not set with linens over them because their table tops are mirrored ones (my centerpieces were mirrors) like was asked during my setup meeting and was even written down on my wedding set up plan paper that was left on the bar. As well as the night befores weddings drinks and half drank glasses of things, a sticky messy on the bar, the floors all a mess so my sister had to sweep them herself. And bridal and grooms suites that desperately needed wiped down. None of the ceremony decor from the wedding before was moved out of the way we had to find places to put it ourselves as were 3 high stacks of extra chairs just hanging out in the middle of the ceremony room that we also had to find space and hide ourselves too. The centerpiece vases they were letting me use for the ceremony and were actually left out but every one of them was singed with soot and dirt from real candles being used in them and no one decided to clean them out before leaving them for us to do so. Needless to say all this put our day behind from getting things done the way I wanted them. The extra cleaning and moving things and waiting for people to actually come move the tabletops so the linens could be put over them it was a lot of set back. Finally making it to the reception we had planned dinner was supposed to be at 6 to 6:30 at the latest...as they put in the contract again timing was set by them. My DJ was set according to that timing and come to find out they decided they aren't going to serve dinner til almost 7:30 instead without telling us. The dinner we were served wasn't even remotely close to what we had at our tasting...it was disgusting. My husband and I barely touched our plates, and a lot of guests complained. The "beef tenderloin" I paid extra for ended up being roast beef instead and you couldn't cut it or even chew it. None of our meal was anything close to our tasting.The managers knew we weren't happy but not much fixing it at that point. Natalie didn't reach out herself whatsoever, again no professional courtesy or apology.The beef tenderloin got reimbursed after I said something about it,since it wasn't even served otherwise they could

Gotta say the service and the whole atmosphere this venue provided for my niece and her new husband was top tier. The staff was on top of everything, from clearing tables to service. It was well ran and I highly recommend if your looking for a venue

The Edgar Allen Poe speakeasy was a great time. The staff did it all and did it superbly. The cocktails, storytelling and service were all awesome. Highly recommend attending if you can.
