Not a source of quality materials. The materials are cheap but highly priced. The staff is friendly but do not know what customer service is. Shopping in the summer is fine but during the fall, winter and spring is not worth the trip. The roof leaks on materials and there is always water on the floor. We saw 4 large critters running around the clutter. They probably had better service with one location but they cannot manage two stores. Your phone calls will not get returned and you have to physically go to the store to ask a question. All the positive reviews are by friends and family and not actual customers.

Interesting spot in Akron, an old warehouse full of building materials - mostly wood - doors, flooring, trims, etc. My partner has been finding quality hard woods for making cutting boards. The building itself is an old structure from Akron's industrial past, and it's great to see a business thriving there. It's open to the elements, so you definitely need your coat, gloves and hat when shopping in the winter. There's ample off street parking and you get an impressive view of the Route 8/77 highway construction from the front entrance.

Don't waste your time. John the father and John the son are really good guys but they don't have time to make a sale or provide service. I waited 5 weeks for an estimate for a counter top but they never called back. I stopped in several times to set up the estimate but I was told "my dad knows about the estimate but he is really busy. I don't know when he will call you but the ball is in his court." I advised that I removed half my counter tops with the understanding that Akron Materials would sell/install the counter top but I was told again they don't know when they would be out. These guys NEVER called me back, lost my phone number twice and never had the decency to tell me to flake off if they weren't going to sell/install the counter tops. Do yourself a favor and pay a little extra and go to Lowe's or Home Depot as they will actually sell you an item and will set up dates/times for estimates.

Super friendly folks. Interesting selection of materials. I would be a regular there if they were closer.My only critique is that they really need more dry storage. I was mostly there looking for Hardie siding and trim. They have quite a bit I could have used, but it's been stored outside for an undetermined amount of time. Same with some bunks of what could've been good lumber had they been kept dry. Good stuff destroyed by poor storage.

Very fun place to go and check out! Lots of doors and flooring options. I like to look through their live edge and reclaimed wood. I've also seen some of the custome pieces they make, and they are phenomenal. Items are priced very fairly. It is a bit of a weird location, but worth the trip.

Oh what a great place. I wish there were more places like this with a broader spectrum of reclaimed things. They have alot of flooring products and doors and an odd assortment of things. We will go back and purchase a few things really soon.

I just paid my first visit to this magical place, and it definitely won't be the last. If you are a woodworker, you really need to visit too. They have salvaged wood, live-edge slabs and more. I'm sure their stock isn't the same twice.This place has what I call, "The Old Akron Feeling". It reminds me of the Building 9 store that used to be on South Main Street near downtown.The customer service is excellent. I had a nice conversation with Grace, and she told me about the history of this family-owned business. There's definitely love and passion in what they're doing.

I called and ordered lumber for pole building purlings, John had the perfect deal a bunch of cut offs all for a bundle price. I called a week ahead of time to set everything up because my time is very limited. I called to verify one day before pickup just to be sure things would be ready. John said yep come on we will have it ready. A few mins later I get a text!. Why a text he could not call on his mess up? I’m 2hrs away what if I never got the text message? “Hey this is John at ABC materials. We just spoke about the scrap cut offs you were going to come by tomorrow for them. Sad to say the boss assumed we were just going to cut them into scrap and has cut them all up. That being said i don’t have anything for you to use right now. Apologies for any inconvenience Communication makes or breaks my business.

This place is absolutely the bomb. I have made several purchases, pricing is more than competitive! Receive great customer service made a couple of phone inquiries before coming and again just great customer service. I will go to them before I go to any of the retail stores they have been able to accommodate whatever I was looking for. Love it!!
