The Bluenose II ship is a sight to see! Unfortunately its mast and sails have been removed for the season when we visited this month. Nevertheless, it's a ship rooted in the history of the original Bluenose, as well as Nova Scotia's seafaring heritage. It's free to see, and is just docked alongside Lunenburg pier. Taking pics of the front can be tricky but we made it work.
A must-see if you're visiting the Lunenburg area for the first time.

A boat in Lunenburg harbor.
Our guide told us a lot about the interesting history of this ship.
Unfortunately, our short stay in the town didn't allow us to travel.
I would have liked to have done so.
Hopefully the charm of this ship will remain for many years to come.

Really cool to see this operational ship and tour the decks. Crew are very friendly and happy to answer questions. If the ship is in you can walk on and tour the decks for free. Check the schedule online so you can ensure it's there where you visit!

We booked our sail approximately 2 months in advance. It was our exact 10 year wedding anniversary date, we flew out, rented an AirBnB, and the night before the sail received a text that they were issuing an immediate refund due to personal circumstances.
I understand there are bigger problems in life. I would have appreciated a modicum of understanding for us though - maybe an attempt to rebook or facilitate another sail, since every other day was able to still sail and keep their bookings.
We sent a message asking about anything that could be done - zero response.
Very disappointed but something to keep in mind that they can (and will) cancel hours before the sail and will not communicate or accommodate. If we were to have cancelled with the same timeframe and same circumstances, they would have kept our money.

Check the schedule to make sure you get a chance to check out the Bluenose II. The staff on board are very friendly and answered all our questions. This was a cool experience.

Saw the ship while it was in Halifax for the Fleet Week. Really nice ship and was able to walk around it during Open Deck.

Beautiful boat. I saw that the computer inside was still on Windows 7. I guess it's for authenticity's sake. Windows 11 did not exist when the building was constructed.

You must check its website before you go, since it may be sailing at sea and you can’t see it when you get to Lunenburg. I saw it at the sea of North Cape Breton when taking whale watch…
