“Perfect location for exploring. You can quickly reach the citadel and its impressive museum on foot. Parking is available at the hotel, 12 CAD fee is okay. There are smaller shops, bakeries and pizzerias all around. Unfortunately, the large intersection is often the scene of small and large tragedies; the homeless often try to raise some money there and have probably allocated specific places for this purpose. Since the hospital is in the immediate vicinity, help is provided very quickly in an emergency, and they also have apartments to sleep in and are therefore not intrusive. Still a sad picture, but a relatively safe environment. The hotel has a fitness area, a swimming pool with an outdoor terrace, a restaurant with panoramic windows (overlooking the said intersection), a nice bar, conference rooms, an ATM, reception and a snack corner (self-service against payment by room bill or directly). The rooms are clean, practical and functional...air conditioning is standard, large bathroom and spacious interior. Maybe everything is a bit old, but the beds seem to be regularly replaced with new and good mattresses. The staff is very helpful, the overall service is great. The breakfast was varied and fresh, a large buffet with fresh fruit, bread and real maple syrup. Lunch and dinner a la carte with a wide selection of salads, fast and finger food, seafood, soups, meat and pasta dishes of good quality and affordable prices. Unfortunately, we were not able to use the pool area or the terrace as they have no longer been in use since Corona and the resulting decline in guests and enormous staff shortage. The hotel advertised it on the website, but at some point the small notice “temporarily closed” appeared.
Conclusion: Recommended and a good starting point for long walks from the citadel to the historic district. If necessary, there is always local transport, taxis or Uber on the route. Cheap alternative to the hotels at the harbor that are twice as expensive, great service!

Safety: Isolated people in the vicinity, some marked by substance abuse, no aggressive behavior, police presence immediately in case of unusual incidents, no threatening events, peaceful and calm behavior of staff, police, road users and residents. No dark corners, no visible criminal activity.

Food & drinks: Good and rich, fresh and affordable.”
