Parking: Great parking garage for vehicles 5'11" and under. Recommend that the hotel gets reserved parking for vehicles over 5'11". Currently, if you have a vehicle over 5'11", you have to find street parking, then walk to the hotel. Finding street parking can be difficult in downtown Halifax. It's not very convenient if you have a taller vehicle.Rooms: rooms are nice, clean, good size TV, mini fridge, temperature was set to 20.5 (not too hot or cold).Staff was very friendly and professional.I recommend staying at Hotel Halifax.Walkability: The ideal location if visiting downtown Halifax.

We just stayed one night over a long weekend. The staff at the front desk were amazing, from booking to check out! Leah made our stay extra special and went above and beyond to help us. The restaurant and bar staff were also great. The pool was big with a nice deck area around it. A little cold but still fun. The beds were comfy. The rooms were a bit outdated but we didn't travel there to have a posh room, we were just happy that the beds were comfy and everything was clean. Conveniently located. Definitely will be staying again

It was a good hotel, the room was pretty far from the elevator. We got the harbour view room with double beds. It Included a balcony and the view was really nice during sunrise. The only down side was that you could hear people outside really loudly. Room service was really nice and helpful. They got us a microwave and helped us with everything we needed. Aside from that the rooms did have an old feel to them and the bathroom was not the greatest! The tiles had dirt on them and the toilet seat was ripped on the side. I've been to lower star hotels with better bathrooms. Also, you can hear people in the hallway really loudly. At times it seemed like they were in the room. The pool and other amenities were awesome and the hotel was inside the Scotia square. We went there a lot and it was nice to just get out and go without having to take the car or put on a jacket. The location was also ideal, walking distance to the citadel (another must see) and the boardwalk. We took lots of strolls in the evening and it was so nice. It was a decent hotel but for the price I paid, I'd rather go somewhere else.Walkability: Close to a lot of places.

Front desk staff great. Flight delays so we were tired. They gave us a River view. Thanks. Room clean. No problems. I found the hotel maybe a little dated but overall for our 1 night stay it was excellent. 2 queen beds and super showerRooms: Clean. Comfortable queen beds. Powerful shower. No complaintsWalkability: Argyle street we were told to visit. Restaurants and bars. This is a 10 minute walk from hotel.

We are on night two out of a four night stay. We booked three consecutive nights and then unexpectedly had to add a fourth night the week before our arrival, and I knew we would be having to change rooms. The details of our room bookings have been bumped around and changed six times already, and garaunteed swap from our first room to our second room is no longer applicable, since the staff member I spoke with about it four days ago no longer works here. We have to check out and check back in four hours later. Could have overlooked it, honestly, since the “last minute” (week’s notice) change was on us. But then they changed the room from a king bed to two double beds (we are on our honeymoon, they are aware,) and could only accommodate us if we upgraded our room for an extra $240, which was a great deal apparently. The power went out the first night. The pool has been closed the entire second day, no hot tub. The restaurant staff are lovely and the food is alright but it’s expensive and only open a small portion of the day. Our pre-arrival email stated that the front desk could validate our parking ticket; they cannot, so you pay by the day to park in the designated area next to the hotel. We are really just disappointed. Bed is comfy, room is dark and damp, smells musty, bathroom is very small. Location is great, but there are tons of other hotels all along the waterfront. Won’t be staying here again.

We stayed for one night to go to a concert at Scotiabank CentreUpon checkin, there was a $250 deposit that I wasn't made aware of prior to coming, all because I paid with a debit card instead of credit. Paid almost $400.00 for a very small room with a tiny bathroom and no windows that open, and no microwave. No complimentary goodies, not even water. No room service... I also found a finger or toenail on my bed on the top comforter. Gross! The stairwells had rat traps on every floor, they obviously have a rodent problem. The drinks were extremley overpriced- Almost 20.00 for 2 coolers. The fan/heater was extremley loud and our cards to get into the room barely worked- we were locked out more than once because the card wouldn't work. When we came back at 11PM, the front door was wide open and no security or staff in site, not very secure if you ask me. The pool area had no towels and there were only 2 small towels in our queen sized room that's supposed to sleep 4. The mini fridge was tiny as well. The water on it's hottest setting was lukewarm and our shampoo dispenser was empty. Very overpriced and no clue how it's considered a 4 star hotel. Wouldn't recommend! I'm not one to complain and I'm far from picky but not at all what we were expecting.Never again!Rooms: SmallSafety: Front door was wide open at 11PM with no security or staff in siteFood & drinks: Overpriced.

The hotel's location is very good, being centrally located. The staff ( with the exception of one waitress in the restaurant) were also friendly and efficient. While the hotel is getting a little worn, it was still good overall. What was not is the room cleaning. We were at the hotel for three nights without our room being cleaned!!! Hotel policy is that rooms are cleaned after the third night on a four day stay. This is unacceptable.

So with the exception of the random very loud noise that happened periodically in our room 5 times in a day and a half it was a descent. If you are hungry they have a decent restaurant if you eat there. There is no room service but you can get “take out” but they will give you a tray with the heavy plates to carry back to your room so you may want to go to a local restaurant to get take out.The location was good but the 1st floor room at the end of the hall way is not a quiet one at all.

Nice clean rooms, comfy beds. I felt the pillows were too soft. Great location to waterfront with just a short walk up or down the hill. The restaurant in the hotel was great. Parking is expensive, but for the location wasn’t too bad. Staff wasn’t too helpful with pricing; either $26 per day through the hotel or you pay when leaving the parkade, so it depends on whether you’ll be using your car or not. Not secured parking though.Walkability: Short walk to waterfront, mall, restaurants and shops.

Perhaps the least comfortable beds in Halifax. I woke up every morning with a sore back. And the rooms smell musty and damp. I had the misfortune of staying on two separate occasions separated by about a week. Both rooms had the same issues. Surely there are better options.Walkability: Great location with easy access to the waterfront and other attractions in downtown Halifax. The only issue is that there is major construction nearby making some of the surrounding area a bit confusing to walk.

A nice hotel, with helpful staff, a good restaurant and clean room. The location is good, just minutes away from the waterfront, with a nice view of both the citadel and the sea. It's also convenient that the bus to the airport stops right near the door. One issue I had, however, is that the rooms are too chilly (even if you turn the fan off) and the lobby is positively glacial!!

We had a great time. Right downtown and close walk to everything. Lots of construction around the parking area. Room was comfortable and kids loved the pool. Will come again!

We stayed for 7 days and we leave tomorrow. Halifax is fantastic and a fun town and we are excited to move here.Google said it was a four-star hotel and I think that is a huge stretch. They don’t offer any room service. However the restaurant in the lobby is quite good. Our room is honestly abysmal, there are holes in the floor and countertops about the size of a pea that feel nasty to walk on. The carpets have to be at least ten years old. They are matted and discoloured and high traffic areas and have a musty smell. A room has no opening window so it was either way too cold or muggy and we had no ability to get any outside air in. We paid 230 a night on Expedia and I wish I had gone with anywhere else. Our key card demagnetized like four times, and after the first time we suspected that it was probably our own fault so we started carrying it around like it was some artifact, but it made no difference. The wallpaper is peeling at every joint and it also looks gross.Had a cool chrome cast feature on the tv though that made it nice but the buttons on the remote didn’t work so it took some finicking to get it to work.

As many have said, the location is great. However, the room smelled musty, was very outdated, and nowhere near worth what we paid to stay here. We were given one washcloth, and when we asked for another, the girl pointed to her cart and said, “ You can see for yourself I don’t have any more.” She said that maybe she could give us one tomorrow, the day we were checking out.The elevator from the parking garage into the hotel was not working, and we had to lug our luggage down multiple pairs of steps. All in all nothing, looks as it did in the photos. On a positive note, the bartender and server were very nice, and we had a very good bowl of chowder in the restaurant.

First trip to Halifax and stayed here. Realized that the location was perfect as it attached to a walking mall and Scotia arena. Just a short walk to the waterfront which is the start of the boardwalk, so very quite hotel and great area to see everything. Breakfast in the morning was amazing. Order off the menu or the full buffet and your day starts on a good note.
