I got several local companies large and small to give me quotes on ducted heat pump systems for our 60 year old home with a forced air oil furnace. **** gave me the most sensible advice, including what an appropriate auxiliary heat source would be for a bungalow with long ducts runs (turned out to be my existing oil-fired furnace rather than ineffective electrical element backup). I also appreciated that he gave common sense advice on yearly maintenance. He told me that there was no need for expensive yearly visits to check pressures etc unless there is a change in performance (how often have you checked the pressure generated by the compressor in your refrigerator??). Just make sure the fan is clear of debris such as leaves. I did not get this advice from other companies, who insisted I needed yearly maintenance visits (at several hundred $/yr) to ensure that everything was working fine. MyTrane heat pump has worked flawlessly for the last 5 years and pressures or coolant volumes have never been checked. I'll certainly do so if I think that my oil furnace is coming on too often. **** *******, Halifax

We contracted Glenmar to install a central heat pump to our existing heating system. The owner came to our house to estimate the job and thoughtfully explained the process and timeline. They showed up as planned and completed the job in less than one day even though they had to add some ductwork to make the system more effective for our floor plan.
I highly recommend Glenmar Heating & Air conditioning, they were ontime, explained how the system works and left the furnace room cleaner than they found it. A very personable crew, they like what they do and all work well as a team.

Glen installed out heat pump 15 years ago. I had to call him as we were having an issue with it (after 15 years!). He replied very quickly came down the very next and had us back up and running in no time. Fairly priced and great service! Highly recommend
