Adopted our little fur baby Nova (previously Peaches) about a month ago now and couldn't be happier! She has settled in so well and fits our fam perfectly.Emily at the SPCA was super helpful & patient during the adoption process, and the centre was very prompt in following up on a (very minor) issue we had a week after adopting her, even returning my call after hours. Was all-around a very straight-forward, welcoming, and easy way to adopt a pet!

We visited the Dartmouth branch for kitten fostering. The lovely staff and the tidy place left a good impression on us. The staff is always attentive and responsive on every issue or question we have, and make our fostering easy and fun.

My wife works here and they are incredible with the animals that other ppl/animal abusers simply left their pets for dead, beat them and used them. I go there on a regular to play with all the animals that are there..If I could take em all home I would..

Can't say enough about the folks at Dartmouth SPCA. It was time to put my 14 yr old Sheppard down, (past time, really), and as I didn't trust myself to speak of it out loud, I inquired via email, and the the corporate website for the first two places I tried. First place never got back to me, and the second wanted over $200 to do a physical examination prior to the procedure. (For a 14 yr old Sheppard who I told them couldn't get up off the floor without assistance.)So my sister suggested the SPCA, and I sent an inquiry via email.Well, those folks got right back to me, got all the details they needed to do the necessary paperwork, and arranged an appointment for me that fit my schedule. Then, upon my girl's deterioration, they squeezed me in even sooner, and the people who I met there treated us with the utmost respect and kindness.I can't image such a difficult situation being made easier than by what the people at Dartmouth SPCA did for me.

I love how informative, helpful and kind the team at the Dartmouth SPCA are. Everyone should consider devoting some time to walk the digs and pat the kitties if they have some free time. They are always accepting food for surrenders and blankets. They can always use donations of monetary value as well. Please help if you can, and if you can't help financially, the gift of your time is just as valuable. Please visit your local SPCA. There are so many beautiful animals who need love, especially the senior dogs and cats and other fur babies. ❤️

Yesterday, I was at work and my two little sisters took our cat to the vet and he just had bad appetite for a couple days but he was still eating. The vet charged them 300 for a x-ray that was not needed but vet insisted that he doesn’t have any information without the x-ray. They somehow ended up doing the x-ray and was told that they didn’t see anything. My sister suggested that they should get something for hydration and by the end they got no information but ended up 378$ down the drain. Idk but this is crazy to me. This is a lot of money for just a simple checkup that provided no information.

If I could give it a zero I would. We came into possession of a vicious cat. Had it for four days, terrorizing us for the whole time. It scratched us, hissed whenever we went near us, bared it's teeth. Called the Dartmouth SPCA and was told they didn't have room for it and to try to fond another shelter. Great service for both us and the poor car.

The service that we received was excellent. The only thing that I would critique would be - when I arrived to let the reception staff know that we were there for our appointment & that I would need something to assist with bringing our dog into the hospital as he was a large dog,the reception staff left her area and did not communicate where she was going. I stood and waited as I seen people scramble back and but didn’t know what was happening, no communication. After many moment I address a staff and they came to me with a type of stretcher with wheels. Two staff followed me to our car which was so helpful.Future the communication at the first point of contact of your appointment is so important. The staff just need to communicate what they are doing and that someone will be with you or go bring your pet in or something, because I stood there in an area that I am not familiar watching and wondering what the hell???

It has been over 7 months, with my experience here. It had taken me a while to write this. Literally will never ever recommend anyone to adopt here. I had gotten two kittens from them! They both were sick and ended up passing away, and the person I had talked to made me feel like it was my fault? Asking me if I hit the cats? Or if they had gotten into something they shouldn’t had? Why would I spend over $300 on each cat just to hurt them. But anyway it was a good way to make someone feel even worse.I did get my money back but it took over a month! I had to wait for the results of the autopsy to come in before I couldBut I will never recommend them to anyone and never ever get another cat or animal from them.So if your about to adopt from them, pay close attention to the animal, make sure it isn’t sick!!

Dr. West was awesome with my little fur baby. I find the exam fee reasonable compared to all other vet clinics. The staff are friendly and helpful.

If I could give a zero I definitely would. Would never recommend having your animal there for any kind of amputations at all. Staff there are good, but not good with that. Had our dog there last Nov for an ankle amputation, kept taking her there for check ups, to have them tell us nothing, the Dr didn't know what she was doing, wouldn't listen to us, about where to do the amputation, stump would heal so much, then the bone would open it back up every time. Leg would get infected, cost a lot to get it done. At the end took our dog to another vet, who actually knew what they were talking about and what they didn't to do. All cause the Dr at spca didn't know what she was doing, cost us over another $3000 to have everything corrected, which the spca should be going good for it! Will never ever deal with them again! Worse choice we made!
