I used H & R my first 15 or so years (work, university). After moving to HRM and having my taxes done CORRECTLY I had discovered that H&R in Antigonish, NS had been deliberately filing my taxes incorrectly so that I was not receiving all my eligible credits/returns especially the ones I acquired from my years in university.After speaking to several community members I realize that I am not alone in this fraudulent behaviour.Whatever gets you guys off cutting the legs off a single father doing his best.Get it!Racism rules in Antigonish????

So last week I went to file my taxes, after I have submitted my files next day I got a call to come sign the documents, and there I was with the receptionist girl going through my papers and i was like shocked. She was like this is your return of like $600 that you will get in 2 weeks. I was like “ Are you sure its mine” She was like “yes” . I worked like full time last year and another second job, i mean I am not stupid , I am not an accountant but i am quite sure that seriously not right, its not the first time i am filing taxes. So i told her “ Hey but i was working fulltime last year thats not right” and asked her to check my all my t4s again. All my docs was in order. And she was explaining to me even without looking through properly “ yeah there was not enough tax taken out last year” . I was thinking Seriously girl Do i look that dumb Well anyways I said softly “ hey if so then i dont want to file here” Omg then she started rushing to take my files out from my folder, totally passive aggressive, when receiving the docs I was the one who said sorry to her , she didnt even made eye contact. Maybe she was having a bad day , totally understandable. All i wished in beginning was her to say “oh let me have it checked again” or something similar. Anyways went to some other place the very next day, my return was actually $3300.again not amazed. Look I have went to HR blocks in Ontario, tats why I came here too because of that experience. Anyways despite of being a part of large chain let me tell you THEY HAVE NO IDEA WAT THEY ARE DOING. Or Maybe this is an isolated case. I am not really a complaining person but really wanted to share this horrible experience.Edited **** (since no reply option in google) : Yes after 3 days, I have called the number posted by Owner’s reply below since the reply said call back at your earliest convenience. I literally feel ashamed I actually called back. I told my name, abt the review and said I was asked to call this number, She literally said “ WHAT Review”. I said the review posted online. Again she said she doesn’t understand. I said yeah Its Okay no problem and hung up. Look I already filed my taxes some other place and I dont understand what you meant by you want to “Understand my disappointment” in your reply. missing almost $2500 in returns ,tats the reason plain and simple, wats there to understand in that. Well i dont have time for this, anyways atleast BRIEF YOUR EMPLOYEES, if u r posting asking me to give a call back man (and please dont reply saying sorry shes new. )

Holly at this office is absolutely incredible!I struggle with EXTREME anxiety and had never filed my taxes before. As the years piled up (5 years to be exact.. ya.. ?) my fear going in to get them done got worse and worse! I was terrified to say the least. I honestly just felt so embarrassed and lost. After working with my therapist, I finally got the courage to go in. I was greeted with the most sincere kindness, comfort, and absolutely zero judgment whatsoever! Holly went out of her way to help me understand the whole thing and she answered all of my questions in simple terms that I, someone who had literally no clue about anything to do with taxes, could understand and gave many examples. If that not already enough, she walked me through tax credits and helped me determine which I was eligible for! As a student who is financially independent and on a very very tight budget, I was slightly worried about the fees associated with using a big company like H&R Block but guys, it’s so worth it! Holly even took the time to figure out when and in which order to file each year all so that I can still afford my bills - for example, we filed only 2016 yesterday because I could afford only to file 1 of the 5 years at that time. Now once I receive that refund, I’ll be going back to do the rest with the money I get. I am so thankful for Holly. She actually turned a situation that was causing me crippling anxiety into a pleasurable and informative experience. I now feel more confident than ever moving forward in the difficult world of adulting. I would give her 100/5 stars if i could. I 1000% recommended Holly to everyone!
