The people in Pick City were incredibly hospitable, we were in the cabin for a month and Mike treated us like family the entire time we were

Don’t trust the old man that runs this place. He will tell you anything he thinks will get you to book. When we called, he said they only book for two nights. We said ok, we’ll find another place. Suddenly he changed his mind, and he would book us for one night. We arrive to check in, and he puts us in a room with two beds, for an extra $25/night. He doesn’t mention that he lied, and still charges us the full fee.To top it all off, the drain in the shower doesn’t work, and there is no complimentary shampoo/conditioner.I would recommend finding another place to stay, even if you have a further drive.Maybe one day someone will open up a competing business in the area and show him how a real “hospitality” business should be run.Don’t stay here.Best of luck. And an edit, the coffee maker doesn’t work. This place is amazing. If you plan in staying here, bring everything a normal motel would have. Don’t expect anything other than a roof over your head.

Motel is old school. Fridge microwave. Most importantly peaceful. It's a mile or so from the lake.Nearby gas station. A store (basic camp food) tackle, bait.

This review is going to be for future USACE seasonal hires and those looking for a place to stay for longer than just a couple night (up to several months). The reason for the separation is that there are actually multiple locations. The Pick City location seems to be the nicer of the options and seems to be given to guests who are staying temporarily, your couple of night kind of thing. While the other location, in Riverdale, is meant for longer term residents like seasonal hires by the USACE office there. I might be wrong about this, but this is my best guess as to how guests get split between locations. I cannot speak for what the Pick City location is like as I was at the Riverdale location.Pros:- It is pretty cheap if you have several people to split the rent between making it an affordable option.- The basic necessities are provided (Wi-Fi, laundry {it was $2.75 total to wash and dry}, a bed with sheets, even some basic cooking supplies).- The kitchen is decent, fairly new appliances in good condition.- Great location (4-5 minute walk to the USACE office).- Cable TV providedCons:- The owner can be a little rude sometimes and doesn't communicate the best.- Most of the furniture looks old and second hand, still works fine, but nothing nice.- Riverdale apartments are located in what I believe was once an old elementary school. Walls have been put up in the classrooms to for your different rooms. With this comes all the cons of old buildings that are falling apart. Leaky roof, probably asbestos, rodents, ineffective seals around windows.- You have no actual address to have things mailed to, the guy in the post office was easy to work with for getting things mailed though.- Groceries are a pain. The nearby Dollar Store in Underwood is your best bet for quick fixes, they have a decent grocery section. The next closest option is the Krauses stores in Washburn and Garrison, but they are overpriced. So if going for a proper pantry restock, Walmart in Minot or Bismark might be the most cost effective, even with the extra gas cost.I, personally, would probably not bother staying here again and would instead look for alternative places that are a little nicer (and potentially safer). But if all you need are the basics, a bed, a kitchen, and wi-fi, and don't care about how the place looks, this place could work fine for you.

Stay in Garrison if you can. We stayed in one of the cabins here. We waited for 20 minutes for him to show up and check us in. The owner was very rude. The cabins are not very well air-conditioned. The place didn't seem to be cleaned very well either. The cabin wasalso sort of falling apart. Don't stay here unless you can't find anywhere else. (Edit: The manager said that he was short staffed so that may have been a cause of some of the issues.)

I stayed the night before my bikepacking trip on the ND North Country Trail. This place is Awesome! My wife and I stayed in a room with two Queen beds. It was very modern, clean, plenty of room and ample towels and supplies. I had room to bring in my bike and load the bags for my tripThey said they will pick up canoeb and boat travelers and bring them to the Motel. These people are great and this place is a fantastic place to stay.

Decent cabins. Homey. Should spend some of the exorbitant rental rates on a wifi booster. Claims wifi in all cabins, but it's spotty at best unless you're close to the office.

Not very organized. When we checked in they said we only had the rmcabin for one night when we booked for 2. Then stood corrected. Not all cabins have firepits and if they do they are tiny. Thought the cabin would be clean but there were things missed. Such as a used chew pouch in a window sill. Friendly staff but felt there wasn't much care into the cabins themselves.

Around this time last year I rented a cabin for the weekend on my birthday. At the time I was living in Dickinson and I was about an hour or so out on the return home drive when I realized I didn’t have my white Case pocket knife. It was very special to me and I was in a panic as I called the cabins to see if it had been found. I was ecstatic when I received the awesome knews that my Case pocket knife had been found. I was due to return to the cabins on Memorial weekend and asked them to hold on to it for me until. In the meantime I changed jobs and with the knew job I wouldn’t be able to keep my reservations Memorial weekend. I called and cancelled my cabin and asked if my knife could be mailed or shipped to me bc I was living in Williston and did not know when I would be back in the area. I offered to pay for the shipping and was assured that someone would return my call and we would figure out what to do about my knife. A week passed and no one called so I called them. From then on, I kept getting the run around on speaking with someone who knew about my knife. I called at least once a week for a month straight to no avail. I had to travel to Bismarck today and on my way back I stopped in at the Pick City Cabins to pick up my knife. I was informed that if it was still there, I was welcomed to it. Not once was I offered an apology, an explanation or an offer of it being replaced. So beware if u stay at the Pick City Cabins and happen to leave something behind, just go on and chaos it up bc u won’t ever see it again. Your lose, their gain.
