A nice spot to get off the freeway for a few minutes. We stopped here in August a few years ago. I'd been before but on this August day the neighboring farm looked perfect with its field in full bloom with gorgeous sunflowers. Salem Sue is great, but on that one day the sunflowers grabbed most of our attention.
The parking area closest to Sue was a decent size. One car was already there as we arrived. They left and a second car then came up. Because of the sunflowers we stayed about half an hour. Usually it would be about a five minute stop. Still fun though.

Horrible town that is so deathly afraid of people different from them that they call the cops on them. grow up.

This is the largest cow I have ever encountered, it’s so pretty how they maintain it. We could actually see the cow from a couple miles when driving on the highway too.

Salem Sue is one of North Dakota’s notable landmarks as you drive along I-94. Be sure to take a short break and drive up the hill to see the World’s Largest Holstein Cow and take in a beautiful view of the central North Dakota countryside!
The hill is a bit steep, so I recommend driving up during the summer months.

Nice place to stop and get some energy out if you're traveling across the state. Our kids enjoyed climbing the rock formation behind Salem Sue, and it wasn't too terribly taxing a climb to get to Sue. Nice view from the top.

The road to see the cow is not maintained in the winter so you can’t get to it if there’s snow.

Salem Sue is a very important Monument. I don't see how anybody could get through their life without having witnessed the world's largest Holstein cow. She's a beaut. I believe was freshly repainted when I arrived and it was flawless. Nice easy parking lot, site was very clean, great views of the surrounding area, nice golf course, gorgeous Farms, and the idyllic little town of New Salem right there. Great place to stop and stretch your legs.
