Typical Sam's club it's smaller the other versions it would be nice if they could expand or change the flow a little better. Moose Out

Always been a Costco guy and has never been to a Sam's Club until here. Gotta say, I like it. Same model as the C store - but different things available. Different clothing lines and some different food offerings. I'm a member for life now.

My wife and I were in Sams Club on 13th Avenue S. Fargo today. Not a good visit. Two of the four items went there to purchase were out of stock. The store looked like a bomb hit it - pallets with unopened boxes in the aisles, some with "keep frozen" on them, items moved from their usual places and just a shabby look to the place. Renew membership next winter?

I'd like to apologize for calling the store manager a liar. I was wrong about that. What I meant to say is that I'm suspicious of her. Surely, that is more balanced. She'll probably appreciate the correction. Wal-Mart used to rotate managers. They would pay the relocation costs to keep them moving around, ever year or so. They knew that if the managers got too close to their assistant managers and CSMs, that they couldn't order them around or fire them with the same lack of restraint. They become like a member of the family. Once you become too close to your employees, then you lose objectivity. You tend to place more value on your employees rights, feelings, lives, and you don't see the customer as the most important thing, anymore. When they get too close to their subordinates, then the chain of command dissolves. They also lose sight of what the corporation wants and pride in the company. They communicate with the corporate office, but they don't really see them as an emotional connection or care what they think. What matters is the employees, especially the managers, who are now more like a family to them than their own. Unless you account for a store becoming a good old boy's club and try to constantly break it up, then you are setting yourself up for problems. I think it would frustrate the corporate office to come in all the time and see the managers shine them on. Giving them stock answers after being coached. Well, it isn't all their fault if that is occurring. It's time to seriously consider manager rotation as an investment in profitability and not wasting the district managers time. Store managers are probably unhappy about the idea of manager rotation. They might even be against it. Of course, no one likes moving and having to look for a new place to live. But, maybe giving them a counterbalance to the status and pay, will allow them to weed out managers who aren't really giving it their college try, anyway. The position might be too glossy, if people are so keen on sticking with it, year after year and there isn't much turnover. The enemy of honesty, integrity and efficiency might simply be distance. That extra 80 miles, where it takes more time to drive up and see what is really going on. 90 miles might be nothing in Arizona, but this is North Dakota and during the winter, we have some crazy weather. That contributes to the illusion of an even greater distance. The official time it is supposed to take on the highway between cities is 1 hour and 18 minutes, but I would think winter driving and time getting on and off on ramps would slow that down a bit. I think 2 hours in each direction is a more reliable estimate. Four solid hours of just driving would drive anyone insane. If they need to be clear headed to supervise a worker who is a little manipulative and good at answering questions without giving any information, they can't afford to have the weather and the road be an extra enemy. There are already all these layers of management and bureaucracy making your job of supervising managers that much harder. For all I know, the regional office could be right next door to the Sam's Club in Fargo. They might be able to just get out and walk.

I love being harass as soon as I walk into the store.(sarcasm) the lady at the front door is very rude and I've talked to a manager about it multiple times and they said they'd deal with it but nothing ever happens except her being gone the next day but she's usual back the the day after. I hate to pay for a membership just to get asked repeatedly to see the membership card I mean you need the card just to check out so you shouldn't need to see it when you walk in ps the fresh veggies and fruit section smells of rotting something. I'm not sure if it's the fruit or the vegetables but it's terrible if I could give zero stars I would.

It's Sam's Club. U like it and put up with so-so service occasionally (which occasion I have yet to have, OR you get in a tizzy over one experience and give a 1 star despite the fact that they have great baby back ribs and pork butts. I gave four stars because certain foods like eggs and watermelons are cheaper next door at Walmart. I paid for the $100 for the upgraded membership and got $150 back in rewards last year, but we spend a lot of money here for groceries. I doubt the average family of two or individual member would benefit from the upgrade.
