I recently stopped by the new Fargo ND Acme Tool Service Dept. I only needed an air filter for my Stihl 800 series backpack blower. Felt kinda out of place walking by all the big Kubota tractors needing such an insignificant part. The quality of service and attention I received was amazing. Ken Naylor, one of the service writers, after ordering me a 3 part kit, (saving money vs ordering 3 parts individually) printed me the schematic with the individual parts highlighted. Then, he mentioned other local businesses that might have an air filter that day to get me up and running.I am grateful to get that quality of help only 3 miles away. It was above and beyond any small engine service counter in the area. The funny thing is this transaction was under 15 dollars. And they,Steve McDonough was there also, treated me like I owned the company. Think I will buy all my power equipment from Acme now just because I found a service department that I trust.

Ordered saw horses online that showed as in stock on November 27, 2023 and available prior to Christmas. December 26, 2023, I called and was informed the product was not in stock and on back order from the manufacturer. I received zero communication from the company other than solicitations to purchase additional merchandise. Company advertised products it did not have in stock as available. Company did not did communicate its lack of products or increased expectancy in shipping date. In my opinion, this feels like a deceptive trade practice. Order status was communicated via email - no follow up emails were received. If communication was restricted to a profile - I was not informed of this, nor do I recall creating a customer profile. Customer service did not indicate that a profile message was sent. I would not recommend placing an order on which you plan to rely.

Recently placed an order and one of the tools arrived damaged. I was unable to initiate a return on their website, had to call the customer service number (which, like every phone tree in the world, no matter when you call it, is experiencing a higher than normal volume of calls) After a wait, you can leave a callback number, which I did, and did again, and did again, for three days. Apparently there was a system malfunction or I was being completely blown off. Finally my wife wrote an angry email to their info box, and lo, an apologetic response, and offer to refund the item, no return necessary. Ok - the right response. I can only assume the voicemail system wasn't working and hopefully they will endeavor to streamline their return process.

Great selection of tools. Needed a part for my chain saw. Took 3 weeks. First visit they didn't order it. 2nd visit they gave me the part number and told me to call the Grand Forks site. Like what the hell. I called them up, and had my part in 2 days. Can't give you a 5 star.

Had a bad experience with acme tools. Horrible company, horrible customer service. You can buy the same tools from anyone else for the same price. Nothing special at Acme.

Ken is the most worthless service writer I’ve had to deal with, ever. Carter the mechanic doesn’t know how to fix a chainsaw apparently either. I brought in 4 chainsaws and all had re-works and I was given the run around each time. 3 saws had 2 reworks as they wouldn’t even start when I picked them up and one still doesn’t run quite right, on top of that I was billed each time. guess how long 2 of them were there. 6 months!!!! they are so unorganized they forget they have them and then can’t find them when you come to pick them up. once while I was waiting I heard Ken telling a co-worker “don’t call about (another customer‘s) tool, let a sleeping dog lay” now I understand why all my stuff was there for so long. To add to that the last saw I just picked up which was there for its third time and wouldn’t start the first time I tried to use it after the last 2 times I brought it in is apparently not starting because it needs a new piston, how was that not figured out before? I want my money back!

Acme has an amazing supply of different tools. I found exactly what I needed with the help of the sales lady. I also had brought in my Aladdin pressure washer and the service department got it fixed and it now works like a new one.

For online sales they are amatuer hour and just do the bare minimum. Should something go wrong, they completely remove themselves from any responsibility. In my case I had an order which came with a bonus battery. I received an email that the battery was shipping along with a tracking # for it so as I've done for pretty much every order in the last 20 years, I looked up the tracking and knew when the package would come and they emailed me when it arrived so there was no issue there. For the tool itself however, they never sent me notification that it was coming the way they did for the battery. I usually use an elderly family member's house for important shipments because they are available to sign for it and if I am expecting a package I let them know so they can be on the lookout for it. I expected this, an almost $400 order to require a signature as well. After a few days I started to wonder when the package would come so I went to the order detail part of their website and it said it was processing, but then I saw the tracking number in the bottom and after looking it up, I saw that it was delivered the previous day. Again, they never told me it was on its way. When I went to the family member's house and looked around, I did not see it and was hoping maybe the FedEx driver hid it behind the columns or bushes like all the other drivers usually do, but there was nothing there. When I checked the security cameras, I saw a package thief had stolen it. As it turned out, the FedEx driver didn't even bother ringing the doorbell. He put it right in front of the door, walked away and snapped a photo. I feel that both Acme and FedEx failed us here because Acme didn't require a signature for major purchase and didn't notify me that it has shipped the way they did for just the battery; FedEx failed because they was lazy and didn't even bother ringing the doorbell and since Acme had hired FedEx, they have an agency relationship and share the blame equally. Any other reputable company would have admitted that they at least partially were to blame for not telling me that the order had shipped or requiring a signature, but Acme was downright hostile saying "well, it was delivered so there is nothing we can do". They wouldn't even file a claim with FedEx which I can't do as I wasn't the one who hired FedEx. So yeah, if you're the type of person who lives in a 100% crime free area or don't have a job and can just stand by your front door for a week after ordering something, you probably won't have any issues. They DID ship it after all, but as soon as anything goes wrong, they get greedy and back off and shift the blame. Stick with Amazon and Home Depot as they are reputable businesses who know how to ship things correctly and have stores you can go to pick up your order if you live in a bad area. Fun fact: Home Depot will price match Acme as well.
