I really like this vet because they helped me with my chickens when they aren’t feeling well, but I stopped liking them when I showed up for an appointment for my dog. I made an appointment on the phone and I told them I been there before but only for my chickens and I just wanted to get an X-ray done for my dog, the person on the phone never told me anything about a poop sample & how long the wait is to actually get it done. She only told me to bring rabies & asked me what time I would like to go & she told me 6pm was available. So I show up to the appointment and it looks like they are getting ready to close and all the workers there looked upset that I was showing up & then this one vet who was much older than everyone gets snappy with me & smart mouth and proceeds to say “I never seen you here” then proceeds to make me look like I’m dumb for showing up, I live an hour away from the vet so I wasted gas and my time just for them not to do what I scheduled for, she tells me I needed to bring all this other stuff and it’s literally their fault for not having the proper training among their coworkers, I was never informed of any of these steps. I felt so embarrassed because she was speaking to me in such attitude in front of 5 other ppl just looking at me. I never seen that lady before either when I would go for my chickens. I only like one of the vets there. He saved my silkies hen life. Also I wanted to get an x ray done because I took him to a smaller vet to get him checked out but they didn’t have the big equipments & I was told to get an x ray of his heart and I told the lady vet that and English isn’t my first language & she really gave me attitude and corrected me by saying “you mean an ultrasound?” Like I’m just repeating what the other vet told me but go off I guess. Anyways if you’re the much older white chubby vet reading this, learn how to speak to others with respect

They are always willing to work with me. I am a mom of 5 furbabies so I seen my fair share of vets and this is the one I continue to go back to for years no matter where I move in the area.

Took 13 yr. maltese yorkie 13 yrs. old, heart murmur for Urinary tract test, collected urine from patio (not clean catch but got it for vet to see color to help determine if UTI). He charged for UTI but did not catherize to get speciman or test urine. He asked first what food she was on...told him human grade. He said he wanted me to put her on Hills Science diet, I said no, too many problems with dog food. Their food is not regulated well, dead, diseased or dying animals from farms, etc. are sold to pet food companies and they come pick up and use in pet foods. He took her in back from me, came back and said looked like a lot of dental work needed to be done. I checked at home and there was no signs of inflammation, loose teeth, etc. Her teeth had been cleaned a yr. ago, and my vet was retired now. He wrote out three meds, did not discuss side effects, ask if I had questions, was very "unavailable" and gave the paper to the lady at checkout to type out for me. I was charged $226.83 and he had written I was to bring her back the next week with urine speciman! She was worse after giving her meds that day, listless, wouldn't eat, stayed in her bed. Same next day, but worse....I researched the meds online, it said NEVER GIVE WITHOUT BLOOD WORK FIRST, causes lack of appetite, and other side effects. I was upset, had been up until after midnight, took meds back, and was told "no returns". I had told a friend I was taking her to Southside and had heard he was good. I talked to her today, she's a nurse. He was rude to her, tried to hit her for $1990 for surgery, she said it was a money grab, unlike any vets she'd had before...same scam as I got. BEWARE....he's rude and arrogant, and not caring vet.

The experience I had while here despite the circumstances were good. My rabbit, Creme I had for over five years was sick. She was losing weight, her bowel movements were bad, her attitude had completely changed you could tell she didn't feel good. I called a few places and explained everything going on with her that I could see and none of them could see her even within the week. I do understand that a lot of places are struggling and do not have the help needed. I called Southside and explained the situation and what my concerns were. They agreed to see her the same day maybe two hours out, if that. I went in and told them my name and who I was here for. I was a little concerned at first being I had never been to that vet, after a little wait we went into a room. Starting checking her weight and all. I explained the situation again and what we had noticed with her. The kind veterinarian we saw started his exam and stated how full her bladder was and tried to see if he couldn't relieve her bladder. He then asked if he could do an x-ray, of course the answer was yes. Now going in I had a bad feeling. I had been worried and stated to my husband and other family the feeling and concern that I had. They came back into the room and said that she had fluid in her lungs and that there was a tumor in her stomach which put pressure on her bladder not allowing her to urinate. There was nothing we could have done to begin with to prevent what was going on with her although we still felt terrible because she was suffering and we couldn't help her. I asked what our options were, at first it was keep her comfortable but as previously stated I knew, I had a feeling. I asked what the best option was for *her* I already knew the answer but didn't want to admit it to myself, she had already suffered enough because there is no telling how long the tumor had been growing and fluid had been building up. I didn't want to make her suffer more for my own selfishness. They gave her pain medication to help her not hurt so much and help her relax, and gave us a bit to be alone with her and love on her. They came and administered her last shot. They explained the different services they offered if that's what we chose to do or to take her back home. They apologized and told us how much they respected our decision how we chose what was best for her and not for us. They then let us pay in the room so we didn't have to stay longer than necessary nor wait in the lobby to pay. We have received a letter signed from the different employees at Southside sending their condolences for our loss. This was very detailed stating some things some may not care to know. To us though, every detail is important. These kind souls at Southside did wonderful trying to help us and let us know it was just one of those things and that we didn't do anything wrong. Our beautiful little girl crossed the rainbow bridge that day being loved up until her last breath. I thank each and every person at Southside for not only getting us in on such a short notice but for caring as much as they possibly could and going above and beyond and sending their condolences.
