Just left one of their cooking classes and while it was a lot of fun, I wouldn’t have spent the time or money if I had known it was a cooking class in the form of a demo. I thought I was signing my partner and myself up for a class that was interactive and that we would be doing the actual cooking but I was mistaken. The staff was lovely, the food was good, but I just had different expectations. They need to specify in their listings that these classes are instruction in the form of a demonstration and that you may be able to provide limited assistance but it is not a “cooking class”.

I’ve heard this is a Great Store, BUT Closing at 5:00 PM on Saturday, when many people like me are dependent on the only store of this kind in W-S, that you can drive up to at 5:05 PM at the last minute before Saturday evening dinner, makes me feel like the critics of W-S, may be a little correct in some instances!!! -After I am able to visit the store during their business hours, I very likely will give a great five star review, but 5pm Closing on this type of store when it could be greatly needed really hits wrong!!! I am a big proponent of Winston-Salem, but I guess there are some little things that we don’t have that other cities do have!

Southern Home & Kitchen provides an exquisite selection of cooking tools and household items. On this first visit, I was looking to replace a few cooking prep bowls. Oh my! The selection was broad, various colors, patterns and sizes to choose from that will only make using them more fun. The kitchen gadget wall draws you in then, on the soft goods of tea towels, runners, napkins and such. Working forward, the selection of Le Creuset Cookware is vast; again in various colors. They have lovely dishware, serving pieces, glassware, home decor accent pieces and much more. The shop staff were knowledgeable and very helpful. Yes, I bought more than intended but it was a great experience and I will be back. I highly recommend that you checkout this shop filled with high quality kitchen products, cooking classes and a kind team who will assist you.

These people are the epitome of the overentitled jackassery set that we all know and hate. I am a disabled veteran. I'm 100% disabled. I cannot walk without pain medication, and with pain medication I still have quite a hitch in my get along. Handicap parking spaces are not a joke, and they are not optional for you to use if you don't feel like parking in a regular space. Among others, they are for wounded veterans. These people have two such spaces directly in front of their store window. I don't mean out in the parking lot. I mean right in front of their store window. And almost every day when you go there, it is the customers from this store who are taking up those spaces, without any legitimate right to be doing so. Now the first two or three times I just went in and complained to the store. They could see their customers are doing that, and they can tell their customers to move their cars. But in all, I decided just to leave the complaint between myself and the owners of this store, because it was their customers committing the offense. But today, when I pulled up, they had a delivery truck making a delivery to this store, spread out across both handicap spaces. Man, that's when enough is enough. That's when there are no more excuses. At this point, the store owners are instructing people to tie up those spaces. And with that, it was time to get on here and let everyone know what complete jackasses these people are. Like I said, I am a disabled veteran. As long as the VA provides me with my pain medication, I can hobble across that parking lot if I have to. But riddle me this, what if I were a 90-year-old who couldn't walk across that parking lot? Because those spaces aren't just for veterans. This disrespect is going to the elderly in your community as well. After a couple of times going in there to complain with the employees and owners of the store, I actually started to feel bad. But then I thought about it. They are the ones making it necessary for me to go in there all the time until their jackass people to move their damned cars. And they don't mind being jackasses, so I guess I don't mind being the veteran that calls them out on it on behalf of my brother veterans and on behalf of the elderly in our community. I don't know anything about their products. It looks more like a shop for overprivileged housewives than anything else. But their attitude toward the community at large, and our veterans, and our elderly, is absolutely disrespectful and absolutely inlerable. NO, YOU JERKS, YOU MAY NOT ALLOW YOUR DELIVERY TRUCKS TO PARK ACROSS BOTH HANDICAP SPACES! WHAT IN THE HELL ARE YOU THINKING?

Great kitchen/home store. They even have a knife sharpening service and cooking classes. What an amazing hidden gem.

My wife and I came here to look around and were pleasantly surprised. Great style and plenty of displays to get ideas for home/kitchen improvements. Also, hundreds of neat kitchen items that ranged from essentials single use convenience devices. The items were on the pricey side but the selection and peace of mind made it worth it. Will definitely return!

I have been a frequent customer at Southern Home & Kitchen for several years, it is such a fun experience! The inventory is always creative and unusual, a perfect stop when searching for a hostess gift! The staff is ALWAYS friendly, warm, welcoming.and extremely helpful. I must say that I find the negative reviews impossible to believe (I just read one from earlier today when heading to the website to shop). Shame on me for not taking the time to praise this wonderful boutique earlier, I am currently penning this review in support of this wonderful establishment after noticing an outrageously negative review by another customer. Even the best cannot please those who cannot be pleased. Clearly not SH&K’s issue!

They have a curated and beautiful selection of merchandise, and I have shopped here for many years despite lackluster customer service (only very rarely being greeted upon entering the store even when older women entering behind me are greeted, etc.). However, after my experience today, I will never return and would not recommend this store to anyone. Even over an hour later, I am still very upset and shaken from the treatment I received when trying to exchange a small item within their 30 day store credit policy - because it was damaged due to how they packaged it in the bag when I originally purchased it. I would not recommend anyone try to return or exchange anything here unless you enjoy feeling like you're being interrogated, attacked, and inferences that you are lying. I wish I had thrown the $15 item away instead of going back to the store; the terrible "customer service" I received would not have even been worth tolerating for a $100 item.

Was looking for a tea infuser ball and found more reasons to come back

I have thought about this for 2 days and I can't get it off my mind. I visited this store on Thursday just to get a tea ball. I normally go to one of the commercial stores or another local store in Greensboro for my kitchen needs. The associate showed me the tea ball and I chose one and told her I was going to look around a minute. I looked around picked up another item and decided to checkout. I was meeting someone and dud not have a lot of time. I went to cash register and the other associate made the comment that was quick and then she said a little to quick. The lady checking me out did not respond but I felt the comment was directed at me and it was God that prevented me from saying anything because I really wanted to respond. Was she implying something? I just felt like she was and I'll never go in this store again and I will tell everyone my experience. This is unfortunate axperience that maybe they can learn from. At least be more discrete with your comments about people.

Southern Home & Kitchen makes my life so much easier and I don't know what I would do without them. Today, a hurricane, I needed a specific Woodfood Reserve syrup for a birthday gift to be given tonight. One upbeat call with a credit card in hand and I have my wrapped gift ready at the store. The frosting on the cake was when the employee suggested I let them know when I arrive and they would run it out to my car... they make everyone feel like family! So grateful! Nancy Green

Southern Home & Kitchen is so well stocked in anything you need for the kitchen. I love to cook and bake and they always have exactly what I'm looking for. It's so lovely to be able to pop in and grab what I need instead of ordering online. The ladies that work there are lovely, always offer to help and give recipe and great advice too.

Nice items but last time we were in store we were watched so closely which is just not a great feeling. A lot of other stores in the area that don’t behave that way where I will gladly spend my money at instead.
