UPDATE. Not AI. Level 7 Local Guide. Meaning I post a lot of reviews because I go to a lot of places. And I read a lot of reviews to help me narrow down where else to go. And, in general, I try to help others avoid wasting their own time by sharing what I've learned from my experiences (the point of reviews). Or even to let an owner know about any existing issues influencing potential customers away from them so that they can improve their business... if they care.
ORIGINAL (slightly shortened to allow for update)
I've pretty much bought out the antique shops near me, so I'm expanding my perimeter. But there's a number of similar shops in this new area, so I needed to manage my time out there. After all, it's not uncommon for me to spend several hours at each of these stores and head home only because my truck is already filled to capacity. So my strategy is to begin with the photos and negative reviews. I focus on the latter because so many businesses essentially pay off their customers to leave positive reviews anymore that those aren't generally reliable. In fact, if there are no negative reviews, that's a major red flag.
So when determining how much time to spend here, I considered both parties' perspectives. For example, many of the negative reviews about this store have to do with the covid mask mandates. But, in my opinion, private businesses are fully within their rights to employ whatever policies they choose, and to refuse the right to serve whomever they choose for whatever reason they choose to do so... just as customers can with stores. Not letting in shoppers without masks during covid without exception was their prerogative. Let me know their policy and I'll decide whether or not I wish to comply. No need to berate them over it.
Several other complaints are over the policy of turning off their lights 10-15 minutes before closing to signal to shoppers that it's time to check out because the registers will be closing soon. Apparently some shoppers have been confused and thought that meant the store was closed and they could not check out. Those same shoppers would have complained just as vehemently if they had arrived at the register late and found it already shut down. So, again, I have no issue with that policy, and I still would have happily spent an entire day in this store (being sure to keep an eye on the time).
The problem arose when I read the owner responses to the various complaints. Only one or two of the replies I read had even remotely professional decorum. The rest were unlike anything I have ever read (and I've lived and shopped in multiple countries around the world). Even in the rare case where the reviewer left a legitimate complaint about a specific issue, the response from the owner was rude beyond anything I've ever seen (excluding pages dedicated to being as rude and sarcastic as possible for the sake of humor, but this is not that type of venue).
So, while none of the complaints I read from customers would have deterred me (and some were extremely rude in their own right), the responses from the owner convinced me not to buy anything. After all, if I give them my money, I am essentially condoning that behavior.
Now you're informed and don't have to waste more time trying to narrow your decision. Simply move on and find another place to shop, or shop here regardless (if character doesn't bother you). For me, I'd rather take the small chance that I'm going to miss some hidden gem at this location than financially support this level of rudeness going forward. After all, I've been to enough antique stores over the decades to know that you will most likely find something even better at the next store you go to... if not the exact same thing. But you do you, just as the owner has no problem doing them and I will do me. At least you're informed.

This place is pretty big with a lot of vendors. I wish there were more antiques. I would say it's more of a flea market vibe but there are some antiques there. The staff was super friendly and helpful and we enjoyed walking around.

Very cool antique store, I love that people can resell stuff for what they want! Only issue was the staff wasn’t very friendly when we were there and the prices on a lot of stuff is very high. I’m willing to pay and bought a few things but going to many stores and seeing some things regularly you have an idea of “going rate” and this store is priced on the higher end for sure! Definitely worth coming in and just pay if it is something you can’t live without

They tried to check my items at the counter with a black light so they can jack up the price. Too bad the scientific genius didn't know that UV doesn't go through acrylic. The time to do that is before putting items out, NOT in front of customers once an item is ready for purchase. Have some class.

They have a lot of neat things and we found a few cool finds but it would be better if they had a restroom for such a large place.
