This place is an absolute gem! My boyfriend and I went midday during the week and had a fantastic time playing so many different games from when we were younger! This space is fun and super nostalgic, and gives off the vibe that you're over at your best friend's house after school playing all of your favorites! There is such an assortment for all ages, and owner was such a kind, genuine, knowledgeable, and helpful person! Also the prices can't be beat! We are already planning our next trip back! And we definitely recommend trying the handcrafted sodas! So yummy!

First time visitors today. I can't say enough about Dylan, the owner. We brought in our two kids aged five and eight. There were so many game systems and no clue how to work them all. Dylan was patient and attended to whatever our needs were. When talking with my wife, he learned she was a big fan of boy bands. Without a prompt, he pulled out a Backstreet CD and played for her while she played Pokemon - a great recreation of her childhood.
And that's where the place shines. Each video game system is on a TV and located near a coach that matches the era. He has all the needed snacks. Plenty of soda and even crafts some himself. He even offers the pizza, mozz sticks and everything else our friends moms would make for us.
The last item for me, it's right near New Hanover HS. For $5, kids can pop in afterwards and chill. Helps give the kids something to do. And he welcomes everyone coming in the door. Even spends time to nerd out and talk about the videogame they may be playing.
For me and my family, Dylan and Reteoscape was a complete win. We are excited to come back.

Retroscape is an absolute gem for anyone who loves retro gaming and nostalgia! Locally owned and operated, this incredible spot was born out of a genuine passion for classic gaming experiences that many of us grew up with. From the moment we walked in, we were immersed in a time warp that took us back to the golden age of video games. The collection of retro games here is massive, spanning from the early arcade classics to consoles from the '80s and '90s. You can find everything from Atari to Sega Genesis, Super Nintendo, and even some rare gems that are hard to come by nowadays.
The gaming lounge itself is beautifully designed to evoke the feeling of the past, complete with vintage televisions from the '70s, '80s, and '90s, which made playing these older games feel even more authentic. There's nothing quite like playing your favorite retro games on the same style of TV you might have used decades ago—it really brought back memories!
Dylan, the owner, was incredibly welcoming and helpful. He got us all set up and was a fountain of knowledge about the games and the history behind them. His passion for this place really shines through in everything from the layout to the carefully curated collection of games.
Beyond the gaming experience, Retroscape also offers a fantastic soda bar and snack selection. We tried a couple of their specialty sodas, and they were delicious! Paired with some tasty snacks, it really completed the whole experience, making it feel like a classic hangout spot where you can relax and enjoy a fun afternoon or evening.
This place is truly one of a kind, and I really hope it stays around for years to come. Whether you’re a retro gaming enthusiast or just looking for a fun, nostalgic outing, Retroscape is the perfect spot. Thanks for the awesome experience, Dylan! We’ll definitely be back!

My wife scouted this place and surprised my kids and I today when we were in Wilmington from Raleigh. I just want to say that Dylan, the owner was amazing and what he’s created here is amazing too. The nostalgia hit I had playing games in some of these rooms was like nothing I’ve felt since I was 10. Kudos to you man for transporting me back and letting me experience it with my kids! Watching my daughter play DuckHunt and whooping my sons butt in 007 made my whole week man. Thanks! And hope to visit many times in the future!

We came to buy a few used video games but I was enchanted instantly once I realized where we were! All the eras are replicated perfectly and the selection of games is unmatched. I had so much fun, wish I could go back to being a kid because I would have LIVED HERE but it was fun as an adult too ;)

My kids came to play last Saturday. They paid for entry at the door. Later in the day they decided to get snacks. The guy charged them $30 for snacks which should have came to a grand total of $6.50! I went up there today to try to sort it out. After speaking with the owner, he agree an error took place on behalf of the 16 year old associate he hired. He told me he would give me $19 back and a free visit. The $19 dollars came after he tacked on extra fees and stuff that made no sense. The guy working that day gave me $9 and a free visit. This place is hustling black kids; parents beware! As you can see by the owners response; the math still doesn’t make sense. It has never been $20 to get into retroscape. Again, I said he tacked on fees which didn’t make any sense and still don’t because my kids paid when they came in, as he knows. You can tell by his response they really don’t care and he knows they stole from my kids. All these new numbers and fees which never made sense and trying to justify something that is really inexcusable. Giving a free game card, why would we ever come back to a place who lies and steals! He said $19 on the phone and instructed the other guy to give back $9. I NEVER seen a single receipt which he claims were provided. Just stop lying owner, you got to hustle two innocent little black kids but you won’t get to hustle them again. We knew you didn’t want our kids in there in the first place but we wanted to believe the better in people when the signs were there from the first visit.

This was a great side quest for us visiting from out of town. It was too hot to do anything and I came upon this gem.
I spent a lot of time chatting with the owner. He wanted to recreate what “gaming” looked like when he was young (same for me). You went to someone’s house and played games. Various retro rooms and areas that will make you feel like it’s 1989 all over again. If there is a console and a game you remember from your youth… he has it. Also has some great food items and creative drinks from back in the day Totally worth the visit!
