NEVER BRING YOUR ANIMALS TO THIS PLACE. We brought both of our dogs here for over 2 years thinking they were getting the care they needed. Regarding our German Shepherd, he had bad hip dysplasia. The vet gave him a chewable supplement consisting of almost 100% egg shells as the main ingredient, I noticed all of the medications she ever prescribed was from the same company that our new vet has never heard of. After taking these chewables for over a year, we took him to another vet and they said the supplement he was taking was doing nothing at all to help his hips. The new vet prescribed a medication that helped tremendously in the first two months of taking it. We also brought our other dog there to have her teeth cleaned. We were told that she was too old to be put under anesthesia to have her teeth cleaned. After taking her to another vet, not only was she a good candidate for anesthesia to have her teeth cleaned, the new vet also found multiple growths and even kidney stones that North College Rd animal hospital did not. Our poor dog had to have multiple teeth pulled and was in pain for over 2 years because North College Rd animal hospital lied to us and said she was too old to have her teeth cleaned. Bottom line is these people are negligent and do not have your pets interest in mind. The vet herself is wildly untrustworthy and I would not trust her with anything. PLEASE DO NOT BRING YOUR ANIMALS HERE

I do believe Dr. Iva loves and cares for animals, but her inability to connect to their humans seems to cause unnecessary stress and confusion to all involved, including the animal. I don't like giving bad reviews, and did try to work with Dr. Iva to try to understand why certain things happened that were stange and untruthful, but unfortunately she wasn't willing to discuss those things. These were pertaining to an unauthorized Bartonella test, and also asking if she is still practicing the considerate act of giving people an estimate before any services are rendered, because we didn't experience this on either occasion, and that would help her, us and pets, since as she said in our email correspondence afterwards, we need to work together, and I agree. A range of things just didn't add up, and it seems now it's largely in part due to a problem with communication and helping us understand while in her practice. My heart is heavy because I sense there is something underlying causing this disconnect, which then causes unnecessary stress for the animal and us, probably Dr. Iva too.
To Dr. Iva, I am sorry for any offense caused. I should have requested an estimate and said no when you insisted on giving kitty the enema as I was uncomfortable with it, but you also have a responsibility to respect my concerns. I was very concerned for my cat before and especially after you said she had all these things wrong with her, and you exasperated that with what I believe was an unfounded pancreatitis diagnosis. I understand you believed an enema was absolutely necessary, but I believe she was just due, and a little late for her normal #2, and yes, dehydrated because she absolutely needs some wet food, which is probably the underlying cause of it all. Since she wouldn't eat your wet food, you could have helped kitty by reassuring me that organic pumpkin puree is perfectly OK, which you would known Kitty loved if you listened to me. I listened to you and did exactly what you asked. I cut out all other food for her health, she was eating only the dry prescription food you suggested, and I told you she wouldn't eat your wet food. A simple and practical solution was the pumpkin. Instead we got a pancreatitis, gingivitis and conjunctivitis diagnosis, which she doesn't appear to have at all. If you told me to brush her, and give her the pumpkin to assist her diet, also preventing hairballs that could cause a blockage, that would have made complete sense to me. Having a hairball once a month is surely not accute, but I now understand that a bit better thanks to my own research. I now see that in a way you were pointing to things without saying it clearly, but when we are stressed with worry and concern for our beloved pet, we need clear communication. Not being talked over and dismissed. The disconnect and lack of appropriate consent and understanding for the humans is the reason we can't recommend this animal hospital. Practical solutions are overlooked or not even considered. I understand you're a business owner, but making money from unconsented tests at the expense of us and our cat is unfair, and not good business practice, because now, with the lack of trust, we don't feel comfortable returning. I do wish you well, and I hope you can understand where we are coming from. I pray something good comes from this honest review. I take responsibility for my part. I hope you will yours. God bless you.

Moon deserved better and so did my brother and his family. Don’t call yourself an emergency vet if you can’t handle emergencies. You failed them. Go ahead and say the same word for word statement you have been. Nobody take your pet their unless you never want to see them again.

I'm extremely disappointed with my nephews experience at this veterinarian's hospital. His one star review is above, same last name, if you need reference. With that being said, even if I didn't know about the situation and how it played out, or what is truthful or not... just by reading the response this veterinarian's office gave to my nephew's review is very uncalled for. It is just down right hurtful. It just shows how much this place really doesn't care about your feelings at all. Losing a beloved pet is a devastating experience. Having a sick pet that you are desperately wanting to pull through their illness and feel better again is a heartbreaking experience. When you take your sick pet to get help from a professional, you should receive a feeling of compassion and comfort along with clarity and helpful guidance. I have never taken any of my pets to a veterinarian that I left feeling belittled, confused or insignificant in any way. I'm just deeply saddened by his experience here and truly concerned for any other patient that happens to walk in North College Animal Hospital expecting help for their pet and a caring environment.

Heard you let a cat die with out seeing it. My grandson was very upset. I will make sure to tell all my friends and family never to visit your animal hospital. His review was very nice considering that you did nothing for him. Thanks for nothing.

Brought my cat in last Saturday for an emergency. Her breathing was short and light. Before we left for the vet (just minutes away) she was lying on the floor letting out cries for help. We promptly rushed her there. We walked her in and got stuck in an exam room immediately. After roughly 5 minutes a person stepped in and said their doctor was busy saving a dying dog. After this they promptly stepped out. Moments after I opened the door to the back room to tell them my cat had stopped breathing. You would think this would lead to at least a trainee providing some kind of potentially life saving care. Minutes pass and then someone steps in. They look at my cat lifeless, and tell me she’s going stiff and would like to save me the exam fee. She is now resting in heaven. If I was trained I would have attempted cpr myself. Even now I wish I did. Just know this place is not equipped or prepared to take on multiple emergencies at once it seems. I hope the best for the dog at least. I’ll never take one of my animals there again. The least they could have done was try. Still can’t believe the lack of urgency. Rest in peace Moon, you’ll be missed…

Update- My dog was misdiagnosed with anemia by North College Road during my initial visit. I had him retested a week later at another vet due to all the concerns that I had after meeting the vet at North College Road. In the meantime the doctor at North college road emailed me to tell me she thinks my dog has been sick for years... This type of fear inducing correspondence was not surprising after the initial visit and after I expressed that we would not be back due to a lack of confidence. Further more her office would not share records with the new vet in a helpful or professional manner (reported to me). He's perfectly healthy. No symptoms and clinical blood test retesting at a different facility confirms he was misdiagnosed by North College Road Animal Hospital. Beware of this place. 200$ later and a stressful 10 days of our lives.

The past two times we have boarded our dog they have quoted us a price then charged us more for vet services they decided to do without our approval or request. I only went with this option because our vet was full for Spring Break. I should have known better. This time they tried to charge us DOUBLE for a bunch of tests we did not approve. Like literally $500 more than quoted. We just wanted to board our dog. ***I asked specifically if there was any additional cost because she is elderly and high maintenance and they said no, they board sick dogs every day. The vet was present when I dropped her off and re-explained her high maintenance needs and said nothing about additional charges.***My nicer-than-me husband paid the bill but never again. I’m sure we aren’t the only people this happens to. Steer clear for boarding.Edit - I see that they reply to reviews saying they don’t render services without permission. Blatantly untrue. They called us while in Italy to say they’d like to do some “blood work” for about $100 to test their theory that she was on too much seizure medication (they were the ones who had previously prescribed it at that level and has been monitored by another vet for years). My husband said ok. Literally everything else on this bill was done without our permission.Clearly they refuse to accept responsibility for the fact that a little extra communication could resolve the problems that are repeatedly in their negative reviews. If they refuse to learn from their issues hopefully other potential boarders will!
