Although we enjoyed our stay, we did have a few issues. The air conditioning unit has a really loud high pitched noise when turned on, which can be disruptive at night. Additionally, the second night we stayed, someone was pounding on our glass door at 1:45am, which isn’t what you want to hear in the middle of the woods! The last night, our fire alarm was beeping all night due to low batteries, as the batteries were jammed inside the detector and it took us almost an hour to pry them out with a key. I don’t think we would stay here again, but we were in a pinch when we booked this.

What an oasis! This bright and cozy room has a comfortable bed, free standing tub with fireplace and a steam shower! Plenty of towels and robes as well as a Keurig coffee maker, microwave and mini-fridge. Lovely trails and scenic views.
Walkability: It’s in the mountains so it can be steep. There might be loose rocks or slippery leaves when walking. There was handicapped parking but it didn’t seem super safe for a wheelchair!

Lovely little mountain getaway especially for a romantic weekend. Close proximity to Sylva, Cherokee, and Bryson City with amazing local restaurants. Great recommendations for local things to do and see. Comfy bed, great onsite hiking, and beautiful grounds. Loved it and highly recommend!

We loved our November stay at Outland. We were looking for a place to get away from the city, to be in the quiet of Gods nature and be central to hiking and the small towns. Perfect location and desirable place to return to after a long day of hiking and exploring. I can’t imagine staying at one of the “motor inns” right next to all the other tourists in the towns! Great communication and nice room! Thank you!

We spent a few nights in one of Outland’s fireplace spa suites and absolutely fell in love with the property and the surrounding area. Some of our favorite amenities included our huge soaking tub, on-site trails and overlooks, dual porches equipped with rocking chairs, and cozy fireplace clubhouse. The proximity to nearby Sylva, NC, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and Great Smoky Mountains National Park was the cherry on top!

We loved spending time at the Chalet Inn and Suites years ago and now LOVE that Outland has stepped in (and up) to put a new spin on this beloved 22-acre property. The Outland staff excels in communications, making sure every need is met for a relaxing mountain vacation. As remote as this property feels, great restaurants are only 10-15 minutes drive from here. Suite 201 has a mini-fridge, Keurig, microwave, and little table for two. We had no need to go out for breakfast and enjoyed peaceful, lazy mornings in the suite. We enjoyed the balcony overlooking the mountains, the hiking trails (nice variety), and the use of the Club Room in the main lodge. Mattresses and pillows are very subjective, but we found both to be comfortable. The gas fireplace was used first thing in the morning and also in the evening when we returned from dinner - so cozy! Couples will love the suites. Friends and large families will love the lodge.

I highly recommend Outland to anyone looking for a place to stay in the great smoky mountains! We had a small wedding and rented out the whole property. The rooms all had a nice charm and our guests loved having a private bathroom for each suite. Our group spent several nights in the club room telling old stories and making new memories. We comfortably had 26 people stay between the chalet and the suites. The property itself was immaculately maintained with nicely cleared hiking trails, and ample parking on site. The properties ability to host small events such as ours was really impressive at this price point. The entire outdoor space is worth a separate review, we stayed in peak season during October and the whole area was gorgeous. For our wedding reception, we used the event lawn. The lawn is equipped with several power outlets and plenty of space, while still keeping the intimate setting we hoped for. The ownership team went above and beyond making sure we had everything we needed during our stay. The Outland is nestled on the side of a mountain off a nice, quiet street. However, still being close enough to visit Sylva, Cherokee and Bryson City within 15 minutes of the property. This was to the delight of our guests as outside of our wedding day, we went out to see everything these lovely small towns had to offer. We visited local breweries, tried delicious eateries, and enjoyed the friendly local shops.If you’re a couple or even a large group like us, we can’t recommend the Outland Chalet & Suites enough!!!!We hope to return in the future.Nearby activities: Recommend all the local food, breweries and shops!Noteworthy details: The serene feeling of this property is highlighted by the breathtaking views at the top of our favorite hiking trail behind the chalet!

My husband and I stayed at The Chalet Inn for 3 nights and it was absolutely wonderful! The owner is very warm and welcoming and made us feel right at home. She gave us wonderful tips on hiking trails and towns to visit. The suite we stayed on the 2nd floor had beautiful views and was very clean, cozy and comfortable. The whirlpool bathtub was perfect after all the hiking we did. The property is beautiful, with hiking trails, fire pit, outdoor games and very close to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park and towns such as Sylva, Cherokee and Bryson City. We will definitely be back here for our next North Carolina getaway!

We enjoyed our stay at Outland Great Smoky Mountains. However, although each Suite has their own ac/heat control. The whole building is set to what the weather is outside. We stayed during 40-60 degree weather and we still like it cooler in the room rather too hot. & we could not turn the ac on because the whole building was set to heat. This would be our only complaint for our stay. Other than that, we had an amazing stay. The bathtub in front of the fireplace was splendid. The shower was great, the bed was comfortable. We enjoyed our stay and was able to come and go as we pleased on the property.The incline to come onto the property was a little much. Luckily, we were in a 4x4 truck.

What a beautiful place! We visited Outland for a private dinner on the property and for a one night stay. It was a magnificent location with walking trails, a spectacular mountain view, and amazing room. Very private location not too far from Sylva which is filled with great dining options including Ilda. Do not hesitate to book.

If you're looking for a feel of nature's charm and the great outdoors, but still want something well-maintained with modern aesthetic, then this property is definitely for you.
Layout of the suites offered the right amount of privacy to feel comfy & cozy. The place felt safe/secure with plenty of well-placed optional lighting. We were able to set whichever mood we liked. Plus, the interior designs and amenities were great.
But best of all, the hosts did good business. They were responsive via email/text. They did not hassle or intrude upon our stay. There was a detailed guide & a personalized touch found in the suite upon arrival. And the booking's incidental deposit was promptly returned with no haggles or issues.
An overall amazing stay.
